Do you have any phobias? Know anyone who does?
I'm doing a section on them for the juicer quiz tonight. There's some mad ones out there.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaetophobia
sounds a good one.

I'm well known for my manly phobia of moths

(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 13:46, Reply)
Is that a real one?

(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 13:48, Reply)
Real in that I turn into a flapping embarrassment when I see one
Dunno if it's a recognised phobia, mind

(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:19, Reply)
fear of the number 13 is a random one
as is fear of teapots

mine is pretty standard: fear of fucking spiders

i used to be petrified of strange showers, not in people's homes, but in changing rooms, esp the old school kind that look like PRISON. but i've not been near one like that for years, so probably ok now.
(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:09, Reply)
You don't want to pork a spider?

(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:11, Reply)
Why would you want to fuck a spider in the first place?

(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:12, Reply)
no, fear of them fucking one another
and then BREEDING
(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:12, Reply)
Spiders are excellent
natural bug killers, great creatures.
(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:17, Reply)
triskaidekaphobia.
So, you really wouldn't want to see the solar tarantula I got for a primary school science club, then?
(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:14, Reply)
why, does it have 13 legs?

(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:14, Reply)
no, because you are scared of spiders.
So a model of a spider that starts moving if you expose it to sunlight probably isn't going to do your nerves much good.
(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:21, Reply)
you've given me goosebumps
and NOT IN A GOOD WAY
(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:24, Reply)
That sounds very cool

(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 15:30, Reply)
I'm trying something different for the quiz tonight.
They're getting a series of lists, and have to match up with a corresponding list. 4 biographies, 5 state capitals, 6 members of the shadow cabinet, 7 currencies, 8 inventions of the 20th century, 9 sports grounda and 10 phobias. Cool story or what?
(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:11, Reply)
Those dolls they make for women who have had stillborn children that fucking look like stillborn children
Any dolls in fact. It's a well established scientific fact that they come alive and kill people.
(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:13, Reply)
fuck the dolls
it's the women on those programmes who are terrifying. there was one who had dropped thousands of pounds on clothes for it.

and another who'd had an exact replica of her grandson made. the kid was about 7 and clearly creeped out by it.
(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:14, Reply)
I'm 20 years older than that kid and would be rather peturbed to go round my nans to see she had replica of me made up.

(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:16, Reply)
i think she was in the uk and the family had moved to australia
so she had the doll made instead. but by the time the programme was made, the kid was about 7 and you could see he did not like watching the doll on skype!
(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:17, Reply)

I used to write for a toy company, and we'd get sent samples of the toys.
My colleague was sent one of those life-sized dolls of a 7-year-old, which I discovered by walking into the office at 8am with a chronic hangover, and seeing it stood on the floor, and slumped over his chair.

Obviously I couldn't resist it.
(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:47, Reply)
I'm not very good with heights.
Even watching a film, if they go over the edge of a cliff or summat I feel it!
(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:13, Reply)
Heights is something I've neverhad problems with.
I'm not good with clowns though, they freak me out.
(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:18, Reply)
heights isn't a phobia, the LOVELY chutters
unless it's a phobia of being, say, a foot off the ground.

It's only a phobia if the fear is out of all proportion to the danger presented by the thing.

(, Mon 28 Oct 2013, 14:18, Reply)
They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on Earth
But instead, there was in-store Santa
Fur trimmed red stretched across his girth

I remember one Christmas morning
Left in his care while mum did her shop
Red-cheeked and drunk
Smelling just like a skunk
In his cave with plenty of grot

She sold me a fake Dad Christmas
Was more of an uncle type
He pulled me up on his lapland
Then touched me on my tiny pipe

I'm still scared of Father Christmas
Since I sat on his lob on with shock and surprise
When I stifled a yell
As he entered me, well
Just after he undid his flies

I'm not sure I've got any phobias,
but i can work myself up in to a right old state of fear in the right circumstances.
I was home alone yesterday, and the wind and rain getting up, coupled with a spooky book got me in a right state. Like a child.

This is why I don't watch horror films.
