I'm going to see some bands this evening, that you probably won't like.
What do you like that everyone else here probably hates?

Alt: Why do you all hate sportscow so much?
(, Wed 26 Feb 2014, 15:42, 237 replies, latest was 11 years ago)
Me.
Alt: because he likes me.

Sirrius: I do like the fact that as I get older, the music I like becomes more and more affordable (I still buy those CD and vinyl things).
(, Wed 26 Feb 2014, 15:44, Reply)
Yeah, but you have to catch up on all the stuff that you couldn't afford to buy when you were younger and keep buying new stuff
It never ends.
(, Wed 26 Feb 2014, 15:46, Reply)
A lot of the stuff you couldn't afford when you were younger probably sells for 1p on amazon marketplace (plus about a quid postage).
Because that's where the stuff from Music Magpie goes and the bots undercut each other.
(, Wed 26 Feb 2014, 15:55, Reply)
The days of picking up cheap vinyl seem to be behind us now
Every seller now has a copy of the Record Collectors price guide and unrealistic expectations.
(, Wed 26 Feb 2014, 15:57, Reply)
Oh yeah, that's gone.
Even charity shops have worked it out.
(, Wed 26 Feb 2014, 15:59, Reply)
Oxfam are the worst
Shitty, knackered old copies of stuff, with a price tag for a mint one.
No wonder all them brown kiddies are starving.
(, Wed 26 Feb 2014, 16:02, Reply)
... and this is why replies should win.

(, Wed 26 Feb 2014, 16:17, Reply)
that, and the fact that the Governments are corrupt and keep all the money for themselves,

(, Wed 26 Feb 2014, 16:27, Reply)
No it's definitely the overpriced records thing

(, Wed 26 Feb 2014, 16:29, Reply)
Not to mention those pictures that they put on adverts.
They should put puppies or kittens or whatever, not some kid with all flies all over them.

Cricket is reasonably divisive, I also like astronomy and have a telescope which people can make fun of because it's dead nerdy but have you ever taken a really wicked picture of Saturn? No, didn't think so.

Me being a massive prick is irrelevant
I clearly stated "that everyone else here probably hates"
If you are looking for advice on what to think, I would suggest thinking that Rev Fister is a bit of a nob.

Dunno. Old things, I guess.
I'm going to repair my grandad's old record player this weekend, for example. People will probably say "why don't you get one of them CD burners that play that MPOggvorbs music what lives on your computer?" but I just like the idea of fixing somethign with my own fair hands so it can return once again to play some scratched up bits of dustbin cut-offs that had shit audio quality when they were new.
(, Wed 26 Feb 2014, 15:47, Reply)
I'm with you on this krone.
Modern stuff is useful, but nothing beats a good tinker to fix up old things.
(, Wed 26 Feb 2014, 15:48, Reply)
Old stuff has more personality.
I have an old car, I prefer to get my shoes resoled rather than thrown out, I'm capable of most household maintenance jobs that went out of fashion in the 50s.

I'm a bit of an anachronism, really.
(, Wed 26 Feb 2014, 15:55, Reply)
I know it's good for tradesmen that people can't fix their own shit.
But it's still a shock when people can't even do simple tasks like putting up a shelf.
(, Wed 26 Feb 2014, 16:01, Reply)
I'd be ashamed of myself if I paid a man to do a job I could do myself.
I'll have a crack at anything short of mains electrics and structural stuff.

Rebuilding things is great, a few weeks back our front door lock broke and the missus wanted to pay a fortune for a locksmith I just cut the fucker out with a hacksaw and put a new lock in. I turned to her expecting to see lustful admiration, and she passed me the fucking hoover. MAN POINTS DESTROYED

I'll have it when you've fixed it

(, Wed 26 Feb 2014, 15:48, Reply)
No you won't
It's going to live on my hifi cabinet being a conversation point.

People will go "Hey, it's one of them gramophonotables, me dad used to play Shakin' Stevens on one of them"

And I shall go "Hactually I prefer the sound, it's warmer and less clinical than CDs, hactually" even though I don't and think that people that do are cunts.

Lift up centre for a turntable and woven fabric covered speaker bays. There was one on eBay the other week. Proper cherry wood. Lovely.
