Crap Films
I have just watched Death Race with everyone's favourite meathead, Jason Statham.

It was one of those films that was so very crap that it ended up being quite enjoyable. Fast cars, ridiculous explosions, and hilarious use of napalm equalled a fun hour and a half.

What films do you like that you really, really shouldn't?
(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 15:29, 179 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
KILLDOZER!
awesomely shit film.

The Fast and the Furious
I know it is a terrible film, but there is something so wonderfully mindless and fun about it
(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 15:31, Reply)
I agree
I also like Gone in Sixy Seconds for the same reason!
(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 15:32, Reply)
it's entertaining enough
but it is such a blatant rip off of Point Break, which is a far superior film
(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 15:38, Reply)
I bloody love
Point Break, it was one of the first DVDs I ever brought! Haha
(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 15:41, Reply)
Point Break
was amazing.

However F&F is bad enough, will it get me lynched if I admit to even having a soft spot for the sequels (apart from number 2)

tokyo drift wasn't as bad as I expected

Also... Jason Statham *drools*
(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 15:31, Reply)
Bio-Dome?
*high fives*

I made Kaol watch that once, he nearly murdered me afterwards.
(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 15:38, Reply)

I bet he did. Pauly Shaw is enough to make his head explode. Add a Baldwin and Kylie and you've got recipe for crazyiness

Hehe
It is terrible, but great, all at the same time!

Napoleon Dynamite is absolutely brilliant

(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 15:41, Reply)
i knew i was hooked right from the start
when he had the action figure dangling out the back of the bus, for no reason whatsoever. The whole film reminded me of the little known Weird Al Yankovic vehicle, 'UHF', which is utterly fantastic, highly recommended.

(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 15:42, Reply)
I actually prefer Predator 2

(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 15:44, Reply)
Under Siege 2 is actually better than Under Siege 1
Because it takes place on a train.
(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 15:47, Reply)
But Eliza Dushku is far too young in it.

(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 15:49, Reply)
You've confused Elisebeth Hiegel with Eliza Dushku
Eliza Dushku was a ten year old in True Lies, Elisabeth Hiegel is a 14 year old in Under Siege 2.
(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 15:55, Reply)
Oh she's plenty old enough then

(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 15:56, Reply)
You are, of course correct.
Which is nearly enough to make up for it.
(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 16:13, Reply)
WHAT?!!?!?!
Does Elenour Ulreniak that bird get her tits out?
(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 15:49, Reply)
Not enough, ridiculously gratuitous nudity in Under Siege 2.

(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 15:51, Reply)
But at the end
the train falls off a cliff and Steven Segal runs down the train in the opposite direction, jumps out of the back and climbs into a helicopter.

That is how fucking amazing that film is.
(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 15:55, Reply)
What's that film where Segal stops evil oil polluters
by blowing up an oil refinary?

THAT'S NOT GOING TO HELP STEVE!

Death Race 2000
was pretty damn brilliant as well. Stallone as a baddie, getting his arse kicked by an old man, Carmageddon-inspiring scoring schemes for running people over in entertaining ways and the literal hand grenade.

Hmmm, a shit films thread seems to be my natural habitat.

Probably due to being the exact right target market when it came out (i.e. a 14-year-old boy). I even pre-ordered the video from Woolworths to get the free t-shirt. Which I still have. And wear.

Also Marabunta (or 'Legion of Fire: Killer Ants' as it seems to be called on IMDB). Hilariously bad killer ant film with whatshisface Director Skinner from teh X-Files.

Flesh for Frankenstein
and Blood for Dracula, the Paul Morrisey films promoted by Andy Warhol. Very low budget yet strangely compelling, much like Trash, another brilliant effort with some truly life affirming performances.

Driller Killer as well. Unfortunately lumped in with the video nasty crowd, because of 'that' cover. Brilliantly observed descent into madness with the filth and squalor of downtown 70's New York, an underrated classic. Oh, and the directors commentary on the DVD is quite possibly even better than the film itself.

(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 16:13, Reply)
The Wicker Man is Hammer, isn't it?
If it is, it was remarkably better than any of their other ones, I grant you.

Ever see any of those Hammer House of Horror TV specials, with about 4 short films? I saw one where a bloke kept waking up into another dream and then waking up into yet another one etc - it was fucking nuts.
(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 16:18, Reply)
Nah, it was British Lion.
Christopher Lee did it because he wanted to expand his acting roles away from Hammer.

EDIT: The Wicker Man is fucking ace though. However, Nicolas Cage should be punched in the face, repeatedly (as should anyone else involved) for that god-awful remake that took the original story, bent it over, and fucked it to death.
(, Thu 3 Dec 2009, 16:21, Reply)
It was that very remake
that catapulted the balding, horse-faced 'action hero' to the very top end of my face punching list. What a fucking cunt.

And Raising Arizona was in no way as good as people seem to think either.

The cunt.

They don't make them like that anymore, that's a fact.

Screamers
The Legend of the overfiend films (random ultra violent manga with added extra tentacle rape)
Fifth Element (oh come on, it is very silly)
The Transporter films were amusingly terrible as well

I am crap with names. That one...
with Dolph Lungren and Gina Bellman playing snipers...
with George Cluney and Natasha McElhone on a space station...
where Catherine DeNeuve shags Susan Sarandon and keeps withered vampires in her loft...

DOA and John Tucker Must Die.
The former because it stars the very sexy, alien-faced, Devon Aoki and the latter because it stars my second-favourite wank-fantasy from TOTP the gorgeous Ashanti.
