I say the word 'awesome' way too often. I need to sound more like a grown up when term starts, so what good words are they I can replace it with. I'll need a few, and I do intend to sound eccentric

I love saying that word. it's ace.

as well, because I'd know I as referencing Dr Who from the 80s

Ace is what I use also. However my brother wanted to call his son Ace but his wife wouldn't let him. I think that may be why I use it so much.
And obviously Ace Rimmer.

I've already started dressing more like an art teacher, too

Which is very teenage and then hsould be frowned upon.

Preface these adjectives with "pretty damn" for an intensifier.
"That's good" becomes "that's pretty damn good"
"That's awesome" becomes "that's pretty damn awesome" which is a lot better than just "Awesome"

top hole!
Can see that one getting a teacher into trouble!

top hole would be the nose. Unless you're standing on your head, then it's rude

Then "coooool" and "nice" should be the only words you have recourse to use.

but close enough. And not only will I call yellowy brown, yellow ochre, but I will give you a long dull story about ochre

rather than "becoming more like an art's teacher's [which it should be, as I am one, or close enough]"
Our Art teacher was bonkers. Absolutely mental. I was never any good though so I didn't have to endure it past the age of 14.
I do like colours, though. Though you'd be hard pressed to describe the colour of my hair a few months ago. Crow said it best when he described it as "sunburst"- almost white at the roots, going yellow and orange towards the ends. Truly spectacular.

there's a really good book about colour by victoria Finlay. It's all about where dyes and pigments come from. It led to many of my friends never mentioning colours around me in case it set me off on one

We had an English teacher who used that and "scoot" without a hint of sarcasm.
He was always flushed, as if someone was constantly whispering dirty jokes in his ear; plus, he walked with his head bent at 45°, like he'd forgotten to take the hanger out of his shirt. Mister Askew he was called.

Like Spiffing. Yuck. Should only be used with tongue firmly in cheek, and then sparingly. Awesome is a good word for fortunate happenings beyond the usual day-to-day humdrum. A little ironical what with the associations with surfer dude types in the movies, but it's widely used nowadays. There's a lot of mileage in Awesome.
If in doubt Good is a good word. Don't come out with some poncey 19th century tongue-twister just because you're confused and gasping for "interesting" words.

since excellent had already been taken.

I origionally was being sarcastic or ironic, but it's built into my vocab now.

* Home made: Red Wine, Carrots, Red Onion, Paprika, Tinned Tomartoes, Peppers, Celory, Chili.... and, erm, loads of other stuff.

It's another winner, this is a great one, doesn't need the chroizo if you're vegiterians.
