Taking the Mrs up to London on Saturday to see Dara O'Briain at the Hammersmith Apollo.
So my question for you nice QOTWers is simply this: Can anyone recommend somewhere nice to have a pre-comedy meal somewhere closeish to the venue? Anyone know of places to avoid?

Good on telly, good on DVD but disappointinly piss-poor live I'm afraid. Saw him about 3 months ago in Bristol and was gutted at how shit he was.
Probably 3 jokes and then an hour and a half of Q&A with the audience. He didn't even have the decency to take the piss out of them.

I've seen a couple of his stand up gigs on DVD and he was brilliant.

but everything I'd seen until that point confirmed his well-deserved high comedy standing.

It's so upsetting, i listened to Green Day - Wake Me Up When September ends for an hour and a half because it was the only song that suited my mood.
God i'm depressed.
A friend from on here (Spikeypickle) found this, and posted it on here. As a result, it was decided that I'm a massive emo, and I'm asleep most of the year. If you notice, there are many jokes about waking up, and all that nonsense. I simply decided a countdown to the date would help.

There is this resturant called "Subway", it's quite good, they do these sandwiches with different fillings.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 12:24, Reply)
They have a large assortment of condiments too, some are exclusive to their store, like this one called Ketchup, which is based on a tomarto sauce. I think they import it from the 'states because I've not seen it anywhere else.

is AMAZING and about 2 mins from the apollo.
it's run by a pair of indian/iraqi brothers, and it is absolutely stunning food. or if you walk down king street there are dozens of restaurants. it's not particularly scenic, but there's everything there.
or walk up towards high street kensington (about 10 mins), where it's a bit posher and even more choice.

I think they are lying about being brothers. possibly for marketing reasons. Terrible injustice.

That's where you order sausage, then the waitresses put on a little show for you, isn't it?
Mind, you have to wash the sausage after.

Dear Philip, Holly & the rest of the ITV ‘This Morning’ Team.
My average morning starts with me waking up, taking my tablets and watching Jemmy Kyle. I do enjoy watching it, it sets me up for the day, and reminds me that however bad my life can get, there are always people who are worst off than me. I once saw a women on there who looked like a Pug, I like Pugs, so was thrilled to see her. I can’t remember the story line; I was just so enthralled by the pug women and her angry antics.
Normally while this is on, I don’t concentrate, I sit in the living room with my laptop watching the latest news on the Internet. Today I got distracted, I get distracted often; like this one time when I was cooking a roast chicken with lemon, onion and garlic, but I saw a dog outside my house chained while someone went to the shops so I was looking to see if the dog’s owner would come back, eventually an hour later they did, but by then my chicken and burnt and I had to bin it.
I suddenly looked up at the telly to find that you had ‘Ste’ on, from Hollyoaks. I’m a big fan of Hollyoaks, for years now it has chronicled the trials and tribulations of the village of Hollyoaks, archiving the strife that teenagers and young adults go through throughout the decade. I believe it was the first television show to show an interracial kiss. Or that might have been Star Trek; I get the two confused sometimes. For me, it’s on at the perfect time. When I hear the ‘dow dow dow, dow dow’ of the theme, I can get some food on and close down my work for the day. While it’s on in the background, I potter around the kitchen and then I sit down with my culinary invention during the +1 version. It breaks up my day nicely, and I’m quite interested in the story lines.
On this section of your show, you showed all the stuff that ‘Ste’ has gone through over the years, from crashing the stolen car with the rest of gang, to knocking up Amy and knocking her around, to moving into a lovely young man trying to get by looking after his kids.
I was casually watching this, when you committed a terrible act of grievance and showed a future story line where Ste and the new Irish fellow engaged in a homoerotic act. Like with most regular watchers, I didn’t expect this would happen, Ste has never shown any homoerotic urges in the past, and this new Irish fella hasn’t hinted at anything along these lines. Well, I was shocked, not because of it being two men engaged such activities; I once saw my friend James kiss my other friend John, they were drunk though so it didn’t count, besides, they were both crossing their fingers behind their backs. But seeing these two characters in my favourite show getting together shocked me. I’m not entirely happy by knowing this in advance of watching the show. It’s worst than that time than I found out that Darth Vader is Luke’s father; Bruce Willis is dead; Neo is ‘the one’; and the Titanic doesn’t make it to New York. There were no warnings in advance telling us loyal fans that there are spoilers in the clip. If only I knew, if only there was a way of turning back the clock and unseeing what I saw, then it would be a surprise at the allotted 18:30-19:30 slot, or if I’m late that day, the 18:30-20:30 slot on “+1”.
With this, I kindly ask you warn people in advance if you’re going to reveal storylines on beloved television shows. How about a big red sign filling the screen and some white text (I like the front Impact) saying “We are about to reveal unaired secrets about this television show. Cover your ears with your hands, shut your eyes and go ‘nanananannan not listening’ for the next 45 seconds”. I think this would be an effective method to stop accidental revealing of shows that would be in tune with your shows current branding.
Thank You and Kind Regards,
Paul.

How can Ste get it on with Seamus O'Seamus! There are no gay Irish men! And he's a gangster, not a bummer! Bummers can't be gangsters, they aren't scary enough! They mince and flap their wrists like the Supreme Crow, they don't scare people!

edit - Hollyoaks is garbage mind. it's no 8 simple rules.

the only reason to watch it was for the daughter and she is in Big Bang Theory, when she is older, hotter and much much less annoying.
you'll be telling us you like Everybody loves Raymond next.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 13:53, Reply)
It starts as I get back from uni usually. It is easy watching with the blonde and the woman who voices Layla. Also Burt Reynolds joins the cast.
Everybody likes Raymond is toilet but Frasier is good.
Also stop telling me everything I like is shit, some people think prog rock is bollocks!
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 13:58, Reply)
Frasier is good.
It's not because you like them, it's just that you happen to like things I really dislike. I know plenty of people dislike prog rock, means there is more for me!

and I refuse to slag off pastry.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 14:06, Reply)
I don't eat as many croissants as people would have you believe.
I don't like prog rock exclusively. I listen to quite a lot of metal and more conventional rock, like Clutch.
My top few bands are probably Tool, Clutch, Big Elf, Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.
I like all sorts though. For future reference, I like cooking, surfing, playing guitar, reading sci fi and fantasy and smoking pot.
I suspect that you can't find much wrong with those interests.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 14:14, Reply)
Cooking is a bit dull.
Top few bands for me are, Guns n Roses, Metric, Deftones, QOTS, Alkaline Trio and The Cardigans.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 14:36, Reply)
I was big into the Deftones in my late teens, until they released White Pony really. Just stopped listening to them one day, which was odd.
Around the Fur brings back some really good memories for me.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 14:39, Reply)
haha, Around the Fur was also brilliant. But White Pony has everything on it including MJK on Passenger which is the best driving song ever.
Metric - canadian band my brother was into and I adopted as my own.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 14:49, Reply)
I will have to listen to that song, because I love everything else that MJK has been involved in.

Typical mid 90's Northern American rock/pop band. They are not amazing by any standards but her voice get's me and they have some brilliant tracks. Only four albums though.
blacksheep - was used in the recent Scott Pilgrim film. Good song.
