He should have stayed on the run.
I've heard plenty of cases of people outrunning cancer.
(, Tue 26 May 2009, 10:49, archived)
It just means cancer will mutate into faster tumours on pogo sticks
it's short-term thinking.

I don't trust it.
It didn't stop the mum from breeding.

She's a daft woman but I can kind of see it
sometimes the treatment for a condition can seem almost as scary as the condition itself.
(, Tue 26 May 2009, 10:51, archived)
It wasn't for her though, it was for her son,
so the 'what's best for my child' reflex should have kicked in, surely?
(, Tue 26 May 2009, 10:52, archived)
But anyone who has ever seen what chemo does to a child will see how scary it is
to know you are willingly poisoning your child, even for the best reasons, must confuse the parental instinct.

Never stopped me getting cod liver oil as a kid

One of my Dad's friends has recently got some kind of nasty cancer,
but her only hope of survival is some kind of experimental treatment that's only got a 20% chance of working or something, so she's not going to bother.

human reason has the power to overcome instincts,
for better or for worse.
(, Tue 26 May 2009, 11:09, archived)
Sometimes
but when it's a very treatable condition, I don't see how it's scarier than watching your child die a painful death.
(, Tue 26 May 2009, 10:54, archived)
My late god daughter had cancer three times, had chemo each time but in the end it was the chemo that killed her
the chemo gave her the best possible chance and there is no doubt it was the best thing and she would have died even earlier without but the pain she was in over treatment was horrific.
(, Tue 26 May 2009, 10:56, archived)
I'm sorry to hear that.
*hugs*

Plus they're from Minnesota.
We've all seen Fargo. She can always feed him into a wood chipper if the chemo doesn't take.

I have no idea where that religious belief could possibly come from.

(, Tue 26 May 2009, 11:02, archived)
Or why it kicked in so late.
Maybe a Damascene conversion to Amish ways.
(, Tue 26 May 2009, 11:03, archived)
As far as I can tell,
even the Amish go to hospital when they need to.
They're not as daft as they're cabbage-painted.
(, Tue 26 May 2009, 11:04, archived)
Sounds more like some kind of pagan Mother Earth bullshit.
For which they will burn in hell for all eternity.
