That's quite clever fella.
Except there is a flaw in your logic ;) Oasis have clearly evolved to be a far better band than the Beatles ever were and with slightly less drugs. Probably.

you thrive on the anticipation of the debate that's now gonna kick off, don't you ;)
/although saying that, I never really rated the Beatles much

I much prefer the Stones as a group
and always remember that a rolling stonehead gathers Kate Moss

i'm with you
they were ok
mind you, the beach boys were a musical revelation when they were first around, but they're wallpaper music these days - maybe it was the same with the beatles

more than likely, I don't dislike their music, it's just very 'samey'
some of Lennon's solo stuff is superb, and I'd much rather listen to that

so do i
but having grown up with them, they don't sound revolutionary

Oh yes, see what you mean.
I remember when we moved, my dad made sure I had a copy of Pet Sounds... :D
No, not revolutionary to me- but then Frank Zappa doesn't confuse me down to my Pops as well. I think it's fathers, they brainwash you into it.

i own trout mask replica
but i've only played it once,
well, some of it
well, some of bits of it

Trout Mask Replica
was probably the most unlistenable 'music' I have ever encountered. Captain Beefheart's other albums weren't much better.

Have you heard Besnard Lakes?
Kind of Beach Boys high floaty vocals, but with Arcade Fire / other alternative type bits... they're rather wonderful...

They did some good tunes
but compared to the total number of tunes they wrote my verdict is mediocre

an intersting theory.
i've always thought they were a tad over rated but i guess they were original.
oasis on the other hand are just plain shit.

I find changing the lyrics in your head makes any Oasis song sound infintely better...
"I said may-beeeeee, I'm sure I ordered chips and gra-vy" works fine for me.

Correct.
And the rolling stones are only slightly more shit than Hendrix, The Doors and Bob Marley. I loved the Beatles and bought everything they ever released and on vinyl. I'd still rather listen to Oasis than them these days, Old stuff is just too dated. I'd rather listen to The Freemasons or Soulcast than Oasis. hed Kandi all the way for me as I like to think I progress with the music. There might be less genius around than in the past ( and remember I was there for most of it ) but modern production techniques make for some seriously clever stuff today that was not possible in the 60's.
Mostly people's defence of their musical past is just a misguided self-hypnosis to convince themselves that there really were those 'good old days'
But essentially I just said the first thing that popped into my head that I knew would cause a row ;)

All the above posts are simply wrong.
The later Beatles stuff is still amongst the best music ever written. Oasis are like puny torch bulb running from a nearly dead 1.5V battery in comparison to the floodlight of the Beatles.
That is all.
