It's supposed to be a secret ballot.

(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:30, archived)
# Hmmm
I try not to choose friends on the basis of their politics.
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:33, archived)
# If that's not shopped
then the world is just a little bit worse now
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:26, archived)
# Why have I not heard of the other candidates?

(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:26, archived)
# because you're not american
and they foolishly believe in the two party system
(i had heard of ralph nader)
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:28, archived)
# Because you are both Northern,
and silly.

But I guess that is a tautology :D

I had heard of Ralph Nader, but not the other person.
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:28, archived)
# I've heard of Nader, but not the other pair.

# The arrows
Was the election committee's attempt to avoid the chad fiasco. I opted out of the electronic machine.

BTW, I live in DC. it's going to go Obama by approximately 90% :-(
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:28, archived)
# Why on earth does that make you sad?
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:31, archived)
# It's difficult not to get involved with this thread
but I fear it may turn into a hatefest so I think we should try our best to avoid nastiness.
Unless of course we I crack ;)

# Any American
who wished for the return of the Republicans for the last term is decidedly unstable. Any American who would welcome the return of the Republicans for a third term is an insular buffoon and ought to be neutered for the good of mankind.

I find it astounding that these right-wing fascists still have absolutely no concept of their image to the rest of the world ( or even worse, they really do not give a a shit ).
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:34, archived)
# THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS^
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:38, archived)
# it's entirely inconceivable that a sane person could possibly disagree with you
the republican movement is not some fly-by-night small organisation, it is the majority of the population.
americans (on the whole) are rabidly right-wing,because that is how american society is set up.
yes, there is a huge (slightly more) liberal population keeping them mostly in check, but really, the whole country is fucked.
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:39, archived)
# Those damn fools will vote 'values' every time
never mind that the Republican economic policies are ruining them financially...it's all about 'values'. Idiot rednecks.
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 22:05, archived)
# "it is the majority of the population"
Interesting comment given that the Democrats won the popular vote.
(, Wed 5 Nov 2008, 9:42, archived)
# I think that their image to the rest of the world is irrelevant.
I personally do not appreciate the politics of a lot of countries around the world, but that is why I don't live there.

However, watching Jon Snow's America last night, I can't help but feel that certain Republicans are extremely backward in their world view and with the power that they currently wield, are dangerous for everyone in the world.
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:39, archived)
# When the country sets itself
up, unopposed, as the world police, then their image to the rest of the world should be paramount.
I don't want the US election to concern me in the slightest, however it does and I have no say in the matter.
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:41, archived)
# And here was me thinking you were a Daily Mail reader
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:43, archived)
# isn't suggesting
neutering people for various reasons also a tad right-wing?
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:45, archived)
# Yes.
but irony is wasted on the Americans.
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:53, archived)
# neutering people for various reasons also a tad right-wing?
That depends - the Swedes only stopped neutring people as unfit to breed in the late 1990s, and most people see them as lefties.

(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:44, archived)
# It's unamerican
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:28, archived)
# not confusing enough to the greyhairs.
here we have to fill in circles with black ink beside our choice. We used to use the 'arrow' thing seen above, but I guess that was too damned easy.

Yes, it varies across the country and in fact varies across individual states. Stupid.
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:29, archived)

(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:31, archived)
# then why is it spinning at the beginning?
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:33, archived)
# it just got out

edit : why else would it slow down when the hamster thing trips/stops?
(, Tue 4 Nov 2008, 21:34, archived)
# because they turn it off when it falls out
