Actually, dogs aren't entirely colour-blind.Like most mammals, it's like human red/green colourblindness. They still have violet / yellow discrimination.

Although pigs’ milk is high in fat (around 8.5% compared to cows milk at 3.9%) and is an excellent source of nutrients, sows are very difficult to milk. They have around 14 teats compared to a cow’s four, and they don’t take very kindly to having them touched by humans. They also get very agitated if you try to restrain them. Pigs also have a limited milk ejection time of around 15 seconds, whereas a cow’s can be up to 10 minutes.

The great thing about cows is that they eat grass, which is not food—at least not a popular human food—and they turn it into milk. It’s a net food gain.And what about pigs? They’ll eat a lot of stuff we won’t touch. I’ve seen pigs eating garbage. So if we could just get close to a sow, pig milk seems like it might be a net food gain as well.

At some point it became this very philosophical thing to me. Has nothing to do with extracting milk. It’s “How do I make this pig my friend?” I can’t force it, she’s too strong. They’re smart so there’s no way I’m going to do this by using guile. The last option is to earn her trust.
