This is a normal post There's a strange willful groupthink in certain places
- where everyone agrees to say "fairies exist", often without any actual belief as such. It's sort of like Father Christmas, but not so restricted to pretending for the sake of the children.

I mean there's a Fairy Bridge on the Isle of Man, where you have to greet the Little Folk, or they'll fuck you over quite royally.
And being an atheist engineer, I find it quite strange that even I will always say "Hello Fairies" when crossing that bridge - the thought of not saying it feels kind of weirder than doing it!

This is a normal post I was once lucky enough to spend an afternoon in their 'Atelier'
Exterior: a bog-standard light industrial block in Borough, SE London (with an ancient bicycle chained up outside as a clue).
Interior: Exactly like a Quay film set, modeals and sets in mid-animation, with an old not-quite-tuned wireless quietly playing Radio 3 while we drank tea from old cracked teacups. They were ever so nice, once you get over the whole Wyrd Brothers appearance.

This is a normal post top text parsing, monkeon
on a related note, the first development software I learned for work was the long obsolete but brilliant Authorware (which launched Macromedia). It had more native functions for parsing text than any software or coding language I've encountered since. Things that now you still have to write your own functions to do and build loops and arrays. We tend to think that things progress forwards in software development, but it's not always the case. Like flash, it was doomed by its plugin and adobe cunts

All the people criticising him for that look very foolish now.
(, Sat 15 Aug 2020, 14:22, Reply)
This is a normal post No, he wasn't.
Sockcooker claimed that anyone who didn't wear a mask from the beginning of the outbreak was as good as dead and that we'd all be sorry for doubting him. That was (and still is) utter nonsense. Wearing a mask doesn't significantly reduce your chance of contracting the virus whatsoever.
The primary purpose for wearing masks is to help reduce the amount of virus being spread by infected people. They're only really serving a purpose if you're already a carrier. You don't know if you're a carrier, so that's why we all wear masks.
Nobody ever questioned the fact that masks reduce the spread. You'd have to be a fucking idiot not to realise that the only reason the Government didn't advise mask wearing earlier was because there was already a significant shortage and they didn't want people fighting each other over face coverings like they were scrumming for the last roll of toilet paper. The NHS had clear priority.

We were criticising Sockcooker because he was panicking unnecessarily like this was some kind of great plague that was going to wipe out 50% of the population. Maybe it still will. Here's hoping. But it's really fucking doubtful.
