Seems a good idea
But the ability to hide replies would be quite welcome, just so they don't clutter things up.

I may be being really computer scaky here...
...but how does ona ctually comment on a story?
I clicked the the little thing in the corner of a post to be be faced with the usual options but no 'comment' button, do we just use the 'reply' button?
/edit - yes that's exactly how it's done.

I'm curious
I clicked through to the 2nd page - that is, the 2nd most recent (starting on latest and working backwards) and found a small message saying "1 ignored or deleted message" on page "Latest", followed by "2 ignored or deleted messages" on the next page. Is this because:
1) I ignored or deleted something in a drug-fueled haze and don't remember it
2) I have put someone on ignore and they have messages on these pages (in which case I don't want to know, that's why I put them on ignore)
3) Someone has deleted their own message and for some bizarre reason I am being informed of this
4) Some other thing I have not thought of because if I knew what it was I would have a lucrative career in IT and not be working in a shitty call centre
?
In any case, thank you for extending the Reply privilege to the QOTW.

Big ups!
It's great. But can you reply to replies? And will there be an option to collapse the replies, so you see only original posts? And will they ever bring back Caramel Wispas?

well
can we have a hint in the original that there exist replies under it? Ie "4 replies" or something?

purplegod, it already does that if you're on a page with more than one story.
haberman, it already does that if there is a comment. Although if there aren't any yet, it does just say "Reply".

YAY!
Yes, this will make the QOTW much less chaotic, methinks- at least when everyone gets the hang of it!

Nice
Is there any real reason that you can't reply to replies? People will still do it, and it'll still be annoying to read.

Could we not have:
a more button - and then all replys and sub-replys go on that page?

Right now (past midnight Sunday)...
"Latest" seems to be hitting pages 8-9 or so, whilst 10-11 are displayed but empty.
I'm assuming they're something to do with replies being counted as posts but hidden. Or witchcraft.
Damn witches.

AS, that's what the "N Replies" button does. If it just says "Reply" there aren't any comments anyway.
Noctu, thanks. Looking into it.
EDIT: fixed.

is it possible
to get some kind of option to show the replies on the standard qotw page, rather than having to check into them to see what new replies are there?

Already posted on the main bugs board...
but I don't think that the replies to posts should show in your personal profile. They can kind of look irrelevant on it (like when you do crap 'answer' posts that don't make much sense when you see them on their own - which I would imagine is one of the things this new idea is out to prevent? - and I know I'm as guilty as anybody for doing this). Perhaps the 'reply' section of the post itself could go green after you have replied? - like it does when you click 'I like this'. Maybe that would be more appropriate?
But what do I know? You guys are way cleverer than little old pooflake

Kind of adding what Vipros said to my last suggestion...
Could the amount of replies (with link) show on your profile too? It then saves you having to pile through everything to try and find your post(s) and check if you have any replies.
I know, I know...I'm a fussy git aren't I? In the words of Freddie Mercury:
"I want it all...and I want it NOW!"
(Although I don't think he was referring to B3ta additions...and I can only hope he wasn't referring to cock up his arse)

love it!
usually i read the qotw and have funny thoughts but i rarely have an interesting or appropriate story. now though, i'm having so much fun posting a reply to other people's posts that i may never post my own qotw story again.

No we don't need replies to replies
I have no idea how it looks on your browser but on any version of Firefox the replies to replies on b3ta look like crap once there are enough to push the reply over to the extreme right (visually, I mean) making it impossible to read. Just reply to the main story and copy-and-paste if you need to.

How about option to make replies appear on main page
I mean, having the replies hidden by default. Maybe, if a message has replies, you could have a coloured bar, with the option to click it and open up the replies.
Top feature, though!

I'm having trouble with the page refreshing when I edit my reply here.
I don't know if that's a problem with my browser or with the forum though.

How about...
a link directly back to the QOTW page you were on (ie the post you are replying to) without having to hit "back" or go to the QOTW directory page?
