We wanted a monkey butler and bought one off eBay. Imagine our surprise when we found it was just an ordinary monkey with rabies. Worse: It had no butler training at all. Tell us about your duff technology purchases.
Thanks to Moonbadger for the suggestion

Sorry Dyson lovers, I'm nominating our Dyson vacuum cleaner
Can a product be over-designed? I think so. My main problem with this thing, is the hose. Designed to flexible for ease of storage, the hose has a habit of kinking when you go round a corner and the vacuum cleaner that is supposed to NEVER LOSE SUCTION, loses suction! and the bag-less vacuum thing? Great, until you need to empty it -when you end up breathing in a toxic dust/shite-cloud.
And those hand-dryers are fucking over-rated too!
Has anyone tried their bladeless fan? I bet that's shit as well.
Fuck you Dyson, you smug knut!

It's all form over function
the vacuums fall apart once bashed around a bit because they've got so many pieces. I'd rather have a Henry, they're actually built to last. You don't have to open 50,000 catches and other over engineered crap either.
Also, the Dyson ball? I never saw anyone with one of his wheelbarrows and I've never seen an example of this poorly cut-and-shut design either thankfully! RANT!

Yep, Dysons are shite
Ive got one and have sent it back to them twice because it lacks the ability to suck up anything. It loses suction all the time. bunch of shit bastards!
I do like those handjet dryer thingies though

^This
The Dyson hand driers are the only ones I've ever used (and I must have used 50 different brands over the years) that actually dry my hands.

Shake off excess water,
activate the drier, and rub hands together under the warm air until dry. It's not that difficult.
All the AirBlade does is remove the need to rub your hands together, replacing it with an up-down motion, which seems to confuse children.

I do this, every time.
Every other drier still leaves my hands warm and clammy.
The AirBlade seems to generate much higher (or more focused, which is the same thing) air pressure, hence its greater effectiveness.

I saw one of those bladeless fans
in a comet or some other soulless electrical warehouse. I must say i was pretty wowed by it. I stood there gawping at it for a few minutes. To be honest it was over priced and didn't shift that much air but it did amaze me. No one else would have thought so laterally about redesigning a technology we take for granted. I say fair fucks to the man, but then again I own a Henry so my floors are clean and I don't have to inhale dust/shite clouds on a regular basis.

I stood in wonder too
intil I seen the price and nearly had a shit! Id rather have blades for 10 bucks than bladless for 800! Cheeky bastards.

I quite like my Dyson,
but the claim that they "never lose suction" ought to be picked up by the ASA, given that it's an outright lie.
Come to think of it, all the attachments fell off it, too. Based on the praises being sung this week, I'll get a Henry, when the time comes to replace it.

They seem quite adamant that they don't lose suction
I think this page proves that wrong

I'd heard
that the fans are one of the few Dysons that don't suck

Yup, Dysons are plasticy tat
Miele or Sebo are the way forward.
Or a Henry if you want to look like a builder.

I like our dyson
it's equally effective on bare floor boards and shaggy rugs.
Also, it's my primary line of defense against spiders. I know any vacuum cleaner would work equally well for this, but I will become emotionally attached to anything that eats spiders for me.

Have to disagree here..
as the owner of two Maine Coons who seem to spend the day tearing fur chunks off each other, I've found nothing to beat the Dyson at getting the two inch layer of cat hair off the carpet every day.
-sob- every. friggin. day!!!

I have to go out in the garden to catch flies for my venus flytrap so it doesn't starve....

We've got a Dyson
And it sucks like an asthmatic, consumptive Victorian prostitute who's spent her entire life breathing smog.
Well, it does when someone forgets to remove the filter and rinse it out. Once this is done it's marginally better.
And the fans? They still suck air in from the base and blow it out via a thin exhaust in order to get air flowing through it and in practice they aren't any more blowy than a proper desk fan jobbie. The solution to a problem that no-one has asked.

Henry rocks
The polar opposite of Dyson - tough, functional and still made in this country. Plus unless you are terminally grown up you get to smile every time you see the friendly face on your faithful vacuum cleaner.

Both the fan and the airblade
were being sold in Japan before he 'invented' them.
