well. I think I do. It may just be platonic drinks. But even so, DRINKS. With a MAN. A cute man, no less!
What's made your evening/weekend?
Alt: if nothing has made your evening or weekend, what would?

The only downside is, I think he saw me gleefully skipping to the car. And it might just be friendly drinks rather than sexy drinks, if you see what I mean.
(, Sun 13 Mar 2011, 21:44, Reply)
he'd probably have cancelled :P
Good for you! I'm glad you got the courage
(, Sun 13 Mar 2011, 21:45, Reply)
I said I'd been out last night and he (jokingly) said 'well, where was my invite?' so I just shrugged and asked him if he fancied going for a drink on Friday.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
(, Sun 13 Mar 2011, 21:48, Reply)
where I just said it without really thinking it through and then went aaaaaaagh why did I say that? How did that slip past the internal editing process? but he just went a bit pink and laughed and gave me his number.
How's stuff with you anyway? Any progress on your cute man? And the dreaded 't' word?
(, Sun 13 Mar 2011, 21:53, Reply)
thought it was time to break.
No progress I'm afraid, though I keep bumping into him. I messaged two people on okcupid though.
(, Sun 13 Mar 2011, 22:01, Reply)
I shall encourage you to make overtures to cute man. Not like symphonic overtures. I mean sexy advances. I'm sure he'll say yes.
Are the two on okcupid cute too?
(, Sun 13 Mar 2011, 22:08, Reply)
on the basis of the stuff they've written. But since my own profile is completely blank, I haven't messaged them.
I very much approve of the first link, he sounds - and looks - lovely. What makes you think you're not the third ones type?
(, Sun 13 Mar 2011, 22:19, Reply)
he's quite different. Looks fun but I doubt we'd gel.
Well neither has replied and one of them has definitely been online. I think I need a cuter picture
(, Sun 13 Mar 2011, 22:23, Reply)
possibly too much of a party animal to keep up with though! I felt tired just reading that. But meh, what have you got to lose by messaging?
And I'm sure he - whichever one it was that was online - will get back to you, maybe he's just thinking of something charming and witty...
(, Sun 13 Mar 2011, 22:26, Reply)
and I'd probably break him.
Let's hope so. Let's hope that if he does I've found a picture that doesn't make me look like an obese Camilla Parker-Bowles crossed with a marmoset
(, Sun 13 Mar 2011, 22:32, Reply)
you are very pretty and very clever. If they don't message you back it is very definitely their loss.
(, Sun 13 Mar 2011, 22:36, Reply)
I am actually bloody proud of myself. And filled to the brim with GLEE that he said yes, obviously.

That sounds good!
I'll be honest, I've not had a great weekend. I'm stuck in the middle of an argument between friends, and while I completely agree with one of them, it would be hypocritical to take sides. However, I've got this to calm me down, a nice few glasses of cold cider to end the weekend.
However, something very odd has happened to me. A girl I really liked has just got a new boyfriend, and when I said I was happy for her, I actually was. Any other time, I'd be bitter and pissed off. Is this what growing up feels like?
Alt: More booze!

One of them has just texted me, asking if I want to go for a drive with her, it's her way of relaxation.
(, Sun 13 Mar 2011, 22:54, Reply)
I hope I calm down between now and friday though or I'm going to make an almighty tit of myself...

I'm punching well above my weight with him, I doubt it's any kind of big deal for a girl to ask him out!
(, Sun 13 Mar 2011, 22:27, Reply)
but that would mean admitting I have facestalked him...
(, Sun 13 Mar 2011, 22:35, Reply)
Only assholes. And he went pink when you spoke to him? Sounds like he likes you. A lot. Unless he's painfully shy with everyone, in which case he's probably easy anyway. I reckon you've scored and it should be difficult to fuck things up.

quite cheeky and flirtatious. But believe me, I am perfectly capable of unintentionally sabotaging a date by saying or doing something reeeeeally stupid!

and then was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour (at 27) so I'm kinda realising all my whiny shit about working too much was, in the scheme of things, totally fucking pointless. In fact most of the shit people bitch about on here is totally fucking pointless because none of them are dying
Instead I'm thinking, all in all, life is pretty good and I should start making the most of the time I do have. Maybe I'll try learning a new language

Bit on edge all weekend tho, some residual unresolved shizzle, I dunno, but just saw a good film and shed a tear at the end.. I actually love when I cry at films. I'll sleep well tonight I think.
+ had beers in the sun with my best mate (he works for an airline, got a fiancee in a different country, so don't see him much these days) with just t-shirts on our torsos for a few hours earlier and had a good chat about anything and everything. The good weather's coming back. Touch wood (my head) but it seems like the good times are coming back. A good Sunday.

Was in Glasgow on Friday for Levellers / Wonderstuff gig, which was marvellous. The missus has just got from seeing them again in Newcastle (her mate got free passes), and has returned minus her bra, which is now probably being used to clean the windows on their tour bus...
(, Mon 14 Mar 2011, 0:14, Reply)
you could make a film out of that.
I've always found Miles Hunt to be an entertaining front-front man. Did they play 'Circle Square' and 'It's yer money I'm after baby'?

They now also have a rather hot female fiddle player. Miles was in a very good mood on Friday night, too.

plus some b sides and a couple of later tracks (of which Beautiful Day was one). Superb.

(, Mon 14 Mar 2011, 0:33, Reply)
If me, then no apart from a mate's charity night on Good Friday; three very good local bands, playing a benefit gig for another mate who died suddenly last year. Apart from that, nothing - need to start trying to get the overdraft under control again.

but I have 19 years of continuous service, so the payout is worth taking. I can pay off some debt and have enough to live on for a year, although I hope it doesn't come to that and I get another job fairly quickly. I am bricking it a bit, though.
On that note I'm off to bed. 'Night all!

But fear not, the "Where was my invite?" line implicitly wraps up sentiments along the lines of, "I like this person, I want to get them on my own in a social situation without embarrassing myself by being too forward. And then I want to dye their hair red, call them Mary Jane and spiderman them!"
That last part might just be me though. You should definitely feel confident in it being sexy drinks. I promise.

I go for real life mentals too, sometimes. It's just that internet mentals are more frequent because I spend more time on here than I do in real life.
I am not convinced and I will remain unconvinced until, ooh, probably about three pints in on Friday when I start to get a bit lairy and inadvisable, at which point he'll either totally go for it or tell me to fuck off.
