 Fuck's sake
Fuck's sakeShall we have a grown-up thread then?
Talk about jobs, or mortgages, or pensions, or something.
EDIT: Apparently Wednesday is depressing, because it's the furthest you can get away from a weekend. What cheers you up on a Wednesday?

B) I'd like to keep it to the peurile comedy, but people feel the need to constantly bring up the fact that I disagree with the government. I have many other outlets for political discussion, and frankly, I'm bored of justifying my beliefs to people on /OT who couldn't really give a fuck about politics, and just want to be antagonistic.

9.30-5.30 or "such hours as the firm may require you to work"
9.30-5.30 or "such hours as the firm may require you to work"then there are chargeable and non chargeable targets (about 150 hours chargeable and 40 hours non-chargeable a month, i THINK)

 But but but
But but butAssuming you have 8 hours per day down time, that only leaves 112 hours in a week! Do you work in some kind of extra-temporal space?
EDIT: never mind. I am a mong.

So 7 contractable hours a day (assuming an hour unpaid for lunch)
So 7 contractable hours a day (assuming an hour unpaid for lunch)Which is on average 140 hours a month (4 weeks x 35 hrs a week). In which you're supposed to fit 150 hours chargeable.
I assume you get paid overtime?

 We don't get overtime
We don't get overtimeBut you can take time off in lieu so long as you are in each day for core hours (10:30 - 15:30), and ask the boss in advance if you need to carry hours over to the following month (else they get binned).

I don't have a mortgage, although I'd like one and I don't have a pensionso jobs. My current career is now boring me. I no longer have the necessary interest in it that I require to keep up with the endless stream of qualifications I'll need to stay competitive, so I'm now seriously thinking about a move of some kind.

 That's the other thing
That's the other thingThere're so many things about our job that bore the ever-loving piss out of me. I like working with my hands. I'd be fine in a field engineer's job, except I'd eventually be expected to gain Cisco qualifications if I ever wanted to go any further than lifting and carrying. Unfortunately, the days of experience being more important than letters are starting to disappear for good.
I could probably keep up, but what's the point if it's only ever going to be a grind?
