Time to put that last thread out of its misery.
So that chap yesterday came a step closer to being allowed to choose when to die. What are your feelings on euthanasia /ot? Do you want to be allowed have your life ended to prevent you being a burden on your family? Or are you planning on lingering on and on? Whose life support would you like to switch off?

Alt: This was touched on in a thread yesterday: best/worst cover versions?

Altalt: Last 5 albums bought?

I think it should be allowed for anyone to kill themselves.
It's not nice and I don't agree, but I don't see why the Nation should stop someone doing what they feel is right.

It has the potential to be abused
this seesm to be the only argument against it.

Religeous arguments don't count.

I think it's no-one's fucking business except the person who is choosing to die.
In the case of someone making the decision for them, I think it's something that would need consideration, yes. If I were to ever end up with 'Locked In Syndrome', or one of the things like it, I'd want to be put out of my misery, certainly.

Alt: Best - Johnny Cash - Hurt & Forever Never - You're The Voice
Worst - Tori Amos - Raining Blood.

DO you think Suarez will go? I'd try and buy Torres back if I were you, he will be cheaper and you know he can score goals with that team.
(, Tue 13 Mar 2012, 14:11, Reply)
The reporting on the Suarez to PSG is quite amusing
So far, he's admitted to wanting to play alongside Lugano, and that he could see himself playing in France. Because of that, it's now being said that he "really wants to go to PSG". Mildly entertaining.

After the whole Torres affair, I have a fairly chilled outlook on the situation. If he leaves, he leaves. It will certainly be a shame, but whilst he is magical on the pitch, he is poison for PR (and going down like a fairy every 30 seconds doesn't help).

Tbh, I think Torres is past it now, the fact that we got £50 million for him is ridiculous. Granted, not as ridiculous as paying £35 million for Carroll, but ah well.

(, Tue 13 Mar 2012, 14:25, Reply)
Not necessarily his age is the issue, he just doesn't seem to be able to keep up with the English game anymore

You should tap up Roy of the Rovers on loan from Accrington Stanley

I don't waste my time hating races Spakkers, I narrow my focus on individuals instead. Umm I forget the rules, are we friendly during the day or in the evening shift? You CUNT/LOVELY MAN delete as appropriate.

yeah, I know people who say that
I just can't see why, his voice is fucking incredible... but mostly I can't see a characteristic in it that's unlikeable. it's not like it's whiny or scouse or summat.
(, Tue 13 Mar 2012, 14:03, Reply)
The thing is, I know it's a good voice, but for some reason, I simply don't like it.

(, Tue 13 Mar 2012, 14:04, Reply)
I know a fair few people who share your opinion
I'd just love to know what it is about his voice that sets people off, that's all.

If I knew, I'd tell you

I think Wainwright is a talentless cunt, but I'm with you on Buckley
Grace bores me rigid and is responsible for too many dreary singer-songwriters who think they are so deep with their shit falsetto singing.
(, Tue 13 Mar 2012, 14:06, Reply)
not disputing that for a second (what he spawned)
but he does have a very good voice. You can not like it, and you can think his work is dull, but his voice is still very good.
(, Tue 13 Mar 2012, 14:19, Reply)
He could sing alright
I just never could get into that album.
(, Tue 13 Mar 2012, 14:24, Reply)
I don't own a single other Buckley track
if that helps.
(, Tue 13 Mar 2012, 14:25, Reply)
No, that makes you worse than Hitler*

*Not really. Unless you bought it as part of a Facebook campaign to make it xmas number one, in which case you should delete your account... etc.

Hitler liked Jeff Buckley?
Fuck.

dear christ no, I've had it for years. I used to have Grace but *ahem* lost it.

The problem with allowing people
to kill themselves is simple the 100's of years of religeous dogma saying that it is bad, from a purely practical point of view if people in pain want to end it why not. We put down 1000's of animals who we wouldnt want to live in pain, however if it is humans then the church gets all uppity and talks about souls. Plus it would save the NHS money in care.

Alt best cover, Hendrix All Along the Watch Tower or (and this is purely personal) Faith no More's version of WarPigs.

Worst I fucking hate Ugly Kids Joe's version of Cats in the Cradle
(, Tue 13 Mar 2012, 14:38, Reply)
I didn't know that was a cover
What annoys me about the church getting involved is that if I'm not a Christian then what fucking business of theirs is it? Oh you're just trying to protect me? Fuck off you patronising nonce cunt.

Harry Chaplin
did the original, and I believe that good old cover king Jonny Cash also did a version before the California Cunts had a pop

Tell them your favourite Talking Heads song is 'How Bizarre'.

I loved their first two albums

(, Tue 13 Mar 2012, 15:04, Reply)
I had the first one as a first year student in 1992,
Then was shocked five years ago to find out that they had done anything at all after that.

Mind you, I had the same experience with Green Day, apart from the fact that as far as I knew they never did anything other than 'Basket Case' which I owned on a cassette that came free with NME.

(, Tue 13 Mar 2012, 15:10, Reply)
Ha. Yes, I guess so.
I also once walked past a massive queue outside The Manchester Academy on a trip back up there in the mid to late 90's. I asked someone who they were waiting to see. That was my first and still so far only encounter wih The Offspring.

(, Tue 13 Mar 2012, 15:11, Reply)
That one was great!
Vox used to do some good ones too.
(, Tue 13 Mar 2012, 15:13, Reply)
I discovered so many bands that way.
Although I still do today with the CDs that come with Uncut, Mojo and The Word. But the tapes were better.
(, Tue 13 Mar 2012, 15:12, Reply)
Uncut used to do that Unconditionally Guaranteed series
Which, while the tracks on it were usually pretty good, was flawed because they often had picked the only good song by a particular band.
Disappointing album purchases occasionally followed.
