Good morning.

I had a lie in this morning instead of getting up at stooopid 0'clock to go to the gym.

Left the Manchester bash at 7.30pm last night and I have a sneaking suspicion that much fun will have been had in my absence.

Again everyone seemed like a lovely bunch and one or two had that B3ta naughty twinkle in their eyes. I'm naming no names.

Glad you got home ok, shame you had to leave so early.
I left about one o'clock, there were a few still going strong; I was pissed and needed some serious crash. Loads of photos were taken, no doubt they will end up on here. My camera's batteries went, as did the spare set I had brought with me. Iwouldn't mind, but being a photographer this was embarrassing.

A good bash had by all then, so it seems
If you guys would be so kind as to organise a qotw bash in Leeds on the other hand, I'm well up for that.

/Edit

This is fucking funny!

I didn't want to go honest.
But I had to drive from Manchester to West Yorkshire to get home and I'd been on the go since 6am so was understandably knackered.

Today will be spent in deciding if I like the expensive top I bought yesterday in the normal OCD manner of all women by putting it on every half hour and standing in front of the mirror ad infinitum.

Sounds like the bash was a good'un. Time for me to eat a bacon sarnie before tidying my room (boring), going for a swim (less boring) and finally watching the grand prix (woo).

Hello everyone! I'm sorry i had to leave early last night, i got a crate for the trouble though, so it's not as bad.

It was great meeting you all, especially aberracion, completely_underwhelmed and t0ria! Thanks to all, and i'm sure we'll see each other again soon enough!

Morning, hungover chums.
Glad the bash was fun.

Last night, I took two b3tans bowling and singing with my IRL friends. Today, I am happy to report we are all still alive, and all still friends.

Do you think the little Brazilian bloke can win the championship today?

Random thought of the morning: Do they call it a Brazilian in Brazil?
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 11:46, Reply)
Hello V!
Yes I do, but obviously he's relying on some pretty big screw up by Hamilton.

*crosses fngers*

But even if he doesn't win, I'm in rather a happy sport mood today, being as Tottenham won against Liverpool yesterday. Marvellous.

Hello All
I'm on the way back to London. How was the party yesterday? Really sorry that I missed it.
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 11:49, Reply)
Ah yes the spurs
That was a rather excellent result for you guys yesterday. I'm not too displeased with it either. Liverpool losing is always good.

Hamilton did kinda screw up qualifying yesterday (unless he's got way more fuel than the cars ahead of him) and he does have Alonso starting behind him. It wouldn't surprise me if Alonso somehow manages to miss his break pedal going into the first corner!
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 11:52, Reply)

Thanks - lovely to hear from you.

Yesterday was, erm, challenging. His passing came as something of a shock to everyone, not least his wife and kids.

Funeral's the middle of the week so it'll be full-on ceremonialness. I'll get my uniform out, as will many other of my former colleagues and we'll obviously NOT be crying. There'll just be a bit of extra dust in the air.

EDIT: Did Spurs win something?
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 11:59, Reply)
Absolutely, Edmund. That's the spirit.
I really hope it goes well and you can say goodbye to him in the way he deserves.
*hugs*

Edit: Spurs actually won a game, and against an on-form team, too! We've not been doing well of late.*

hello people
I'm here, yet not here.

Keeping a BBC on GP, but have lots of work to do as my company has been contracted for a MASSIVE job, requiring trillions of translators in all languages (earthly and otherwise), so I have to sift through mounds of shite CVs and see who's suitable.

Incredibly boring really
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 17:27, Reply)
Made it!
Have just returned from the Manchester bash and can report that it were fantastic!!!

Had forgotten the name of the pub, but found it when I found the street. Even though I've been to several bashes already, I still had the pre-bash nerves, but this time, they only kicked in on entry to the pub and instantly evaporated the moment I saw someone I recognised.

As usual, you were all lovely and the group was too big to properly chat with everyone. Was nice to finally meet the legendary Enzyme and watch him almost demolish a table. Was nice to meet everyone else too.

Now that enough people have met me in real life, I can finally wear a different outfit to a b3ta bash.

I'm on dialup at the mo, so I won't upload my pics until I've got broadband.

Hope everyone else made it back safely.

I think (and I'm ready to be on the receiving end of abuse, for this opinion) that Mr Massa's winning this GP and losing the world championship to Mr Hamilton would be a good result; what do we think?
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 17:39, Reply)
Well, I'm glad you asked, flesh :)
This is LaTeX: www.latex-project.org/intro.html
It's a typesetting package for geeks. It's very, very good.

My novel is about eco-terrorism. It will also have sex in it because I reckon a good novel has some dirty bits.
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 17:40, Reply)
don't know about that exactly Edmund
I quite like Massa, but I'll be throwing it in the faces of all the Alonso-supporting scum around me when Hamilton takes the title.

If ever there was a man who you would never tire of punching in the face, it's Fernando Alonso, smarmy twunt

/rant

EDIT: Eco-terrorism huh? like State of Fear type thing (Crichton). Don't remember if there was sex or not though.
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 17:42, Reply)
@CHCB
When I was leaving school the headteacher told us a story of having met Agatha Christie on a train and she'd told him that every good story had to have sex, mystery and religion in it.

He then set this as a task to his English class where one comedian decided to answer the assignment with one sentence:

"Oh my God, I'm pregnant, who did it?".
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 17:45, Reply)
@Flesh
Yup. Alonso almost makes me sad that there is such detailed safety equipment in F1 vehicles...

Hello My Lovely Munchkins Covered in Custard
I've started the new job, but unfortunately no B3ta at work, and as I'm usually drunk and aggressive after work I may be a more infrequent visitor.....

I would like, for once seriously, (never 'appen)to say that you lot have made a big fucking apricot-coloured curry-flavoured difference to my putrid existence over the last few months of unemployment hell. The QOTW band are completeley wonderful, except for Kaol who needs to refine his slaughtering methods before I'll let him in the Bundy Club. And PJM, who needs to sort his lefty tendencies out. And HCFM Batman, who needs to buy me ten pints of 80'. And BGB,and ..... fuck it, you are all lovely.

I may noy be around much from now onwards due to time, children, and a frantic need to earn money by flogging my bottom doon t'docks, but one day I will appear at a Bash.... and hide in the background, follow you home, and eat your pets.

I'm glad you had a good kiddo-based weekend.
What soups did you make?
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 21:30, Reply)
Hiya clendrix :)
Daughter and I made real-deal leek and potato soup, and tomato soup with tinned tomatoes, which was surprisingly nom. She loves cooking so I always make sure we try at least one new dish a weekend :)

How're you?
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 21:40, Reply)
Oh No3L
you sound like a good dad :)

I'm good thanks. Spent last night bowling (not successful - see sig), singing (only partially more successful - see friends' eardrums) and indulging in one of those glorious conversations one can have when one has a good friend, a good sofa and plenty of coffee and smokes. Went to bed at 6am. Marvellous.

Hello everybody!!!
Sorry I haven't said anything before. As some of you know I had a hard morning of baking cakes and then a birthday, so I haven't had a lot of time to write. I tried to see the pictures to show you to my "not-internet friends" but it's not working for me (even searching for warmfuzzyfeeling)

Anyway, it was great to meet you all. I had a very good night and I wish I could have stayed later.

Thanks BGB for meeting me earlier and make me feel safe. You're great!! And thanks Antichrist for organizing and being so friendly! And thanks for the free beers too! In fact, thanks everybody for being so nice and change my awful/lonely weekend for a great one. Thanks for all the hugs and the kisses. You're a great bunch!!!

And enough of softness now. I support Alonso, and I don't like the way you talk about him. If you want him to die you are as bad as the Spanish supporters who want Hamilton to die and that you criticize. Hamilton has done great this year, but I still think Alonso is better and finishing 6th with the car he's got is very good.

Well, what I said: it was great to meet you!!!

Evening all
Are we well? I've just spent the last hour being beaten at darts. It was rather depressing.

All have fun at the bash last night?

aberracion
I must defend myself here.

I don't wish death on Alonso, or anyone for that matter.

I merely said that I hated his attitude, though I respect his talent.

I hate more the fans round me than the man himself.

And I live in Spain, amongst most of his "fans"

@Abberacion
I'd never wish death on any F1 driver, but you can't ignore the fact that given identical hardware last year, Hamilton beat Alonso fair and square.
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 22:12, Reply)
Well

Alonso is a fantastic driver, but I think if Vettel had a Ferrari (a proper one :P ) or McLaren he could win the championship as he is fantastic!! Although I did have a bit of a noooooo moment as he overtook Hamilton.

BK was far too excited about the whole thing.

*hands out cake*

I ended up shouting at the TV
For about the last 10 minutes. T'was rather exciting really. And got to agree with TGB about Vettel, some brilliant driving from him, especially considering the car he was in.
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 22:16, Reply)
If you compare how well
Vettel drives compared to Kovaleinan (however you spell it) and what cars they have I think it shows that whilst the technology plays a part if you have some raw talent who drives consistently you can pull anything out the bag!

I love Berger though, he seems to be the only team boss who is actually having fun at the races!
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 22:23, Reply)
I think
that Vettel is possibly one of the best drivers of the bunch, and I'd also like to see what Sutil could do if he was given a decent car.
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 22:27, Reply)
hehe
I was reminded of the joke war between Berger and Senna
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerhard_Berger

Oh if only he had been aware of the Practical Jokes QOTW a while back! I'd have clicked!

So how the evening go with your special friend Duckie?
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 22:29, Reply)
Well...
I'm a firm believer of taking things slowly, and this was only the second time we'd met together in real life.

I pulled out my complete arsenal of secret cooking weapon recipes and it seemed to do the trick. My special friend arrived at 5.30pm, and we spent the next 11 hours getting on like a house on fire. It was one of those situations where you just can't stop talking to each other :)

I'm taking her out again on Tuesday :D

Glad to hear it's going well Duckie
@TGB The Berger is quite possibly my favourite F1 driver simply because he's so darned cool.

The last lap of today's grand prix was amazing. I was cheering with joy when I thought Massa was going to win only to see the back of Glock's Toyota in the distance as Hamilton started his climb up the hill.

One of my favourite grand prixs ever even though the result wasn't that for which I'd hoped.

Duckie and his special friend
sitting in a tree :p

What happened to Glock's car? I didn't stick around for much of the after race stuff as I wanted to get back before it got too late

Evening All
Well back to work tomorrow.

How was the Manchester Bash?
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 23:03, Reply)
@TGB
He didn't come in for intermediates when it started raining at the end. That's how he ended up in front. As far as I know the reason Hamilton caught him (just!) is that the slicks were just a bit too slow.

I'm here!

I'm back again, but I can't promise I'll make much sense as I've had a whole bottle of wine to drink :)

Aww
Thanks ancrenne. *hugs*

It feels good to have something nice happen, as I've spent the last 3-4 months feeling lower than I can ever remember.

Yea I've had a pretty good weekend thanks. Nice and relaxing and generally feeling quite chirpy.

How about your good self?

And hello duckie and Mrs Bin.
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 23:27, Reply)
Hello Captain!
Ancrenne - coincidentally that's what I'm doing on Tuesday. I'm going to see Quantum of Solace with my special friend.

I didn't get to do shakedowns of the QoS Aston Martins though like I did with the Casino Royale ones though. *sulks*
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 23:33, Reply)
We thought about going to see QoS
but I resent paying the prices the cinema charges.
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 23:34, Reply)
We are very lucky here
in that we have a multiplex for all the chavs and an Art House cinema for the rest of us. If you are a member, which is free, it's only £3.99.
They show most of the big films as well as art house. So we might go and see it there.

I'm just very tight, that's my problem.
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 23:40, Reply)
Well I guess it's back to school tomorrow
so I'd better go to bed.
