So it appears I have zero friends
I posted a York Bash on the calendar and no takers. I am going to be very VERY lonely.

Any takers from OT? Mistaspakkaman arranged the last York one but I haven't seen him on here in ages.

If you relocate it to the Shoulder of Mutton, Bradford or the West Riding Refreshment Rooms, Dewsbury, I'm in.

(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 18:21, Reply)
Defeats the point of a York bash if I do that really
Isn't York more pleasant than Bradford though?
(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 18:23, Reply)
York is ace for pubs.
Shit clubs though.
(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 18:28, Reply)
This is true
But Fibbers has just been taken over by Tokyo industries, as well as what was Toffs, so York will finally have decent clubs.
(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 18:30, Reply)
I know the bloke who runs Tokyo Industries
He was knobbing my housemate. Up his own arse but does great nights at all the places in Newcastle (and Factory in Manchester).
(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 19:30, Reply)
You should offer a bigger incentive to come to York
Like Massive Drugs.
(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 18:28, Reply)
It's certainly more expensive, and a higher percentage of the population hails from Surrey and High Wycombe.

(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 18:28, Reply)
Ulan Bator
Is probably more pleasant than central Chavford.

Shoulder of Mutton - is that the one behind Barclays? Always looks a bit scary to me.

West Riding Refreshment Rooms is quite a pleasant boozer though. And I'm told that the old station at Mytholmroyd has now been made into a boozer as well.
(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 19:58, Reply)
that is not a word
unless you make it a double L, then it's welsh
(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 19:58, Reply)
What isn't a word?
All of my word are words, although they might just be my words exclusively.
(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 20:13, Reply)
Mytholmroyd

(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 20:14, Reply)
Mytholmroyd.
No, it's not a word, it's a place.

A real place in West Yorkshire.
(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 20:17, Reply)
That's the one.
It's a bit spit and sawdust, but the beer is well kept and it's less than £2/pint. The City Vaults round the corner isn't bad either.

Also, "pleasant" is very subjective. For instance, London is often hailed as heaven on earth but to me it's just a miserable grey shithole full of third-world poverty and arrogant pricks who don't know the meaning of courtesy.
(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 20:51, Reply)
Fair enough
I live in the bit of Bradford that we call North West Leeds, because Bradford is embarrassing.

Loads of good boozers in Idle and Thackley. Saltaire - the new Chapel Allerton. Superb night out.

Less than £2 a pint
Is this pub in 1986?

(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 18:42, Reply)
York's not the most popular of places

(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 18:47, Reply)
Especially when it rains.

(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 18:49, Reply)
I've never been to york, and I can't seem me ever going, sorry.
*turns this into a generic evening thread*

I've made pizza tonight using garlic chiabata as a base, did my own sauce and all that. I'm such a chefologist, it's a crime that I'm still single when I can cook like an adonis.
(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 19:08, Reply)

(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 19:33, Reply)
i just poured some wine in some food while it cooked
the wine was well past drinking-stage (was opened months ago). Tasted nice in the bolognaise, though
(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 19:58, Reply)
Lovely !

(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 20:53, Reply)
Can you beat my pancetta-wrapped chicken breast with leeks and thyme?
Well, can you? Fresh thyme is fucking fiddly, I tell you that for nothing.
(, Tue 7 Sep 2010, 0:02, Reply)
york is nice
but hundreds of miles away
(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 19:12, Reply)
Spakkaman
Landed a decent redundancy payout and has gone to live the dream in America, so I believe.

York isn't too far from me but I work weekends, otherwise I might have made an appearance.
(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 19:52, Reply)
If you relocate it to Marbella I probably still won't come

(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 20:07, Reply)
Don't worry, no one even cares that I'm dead

(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 20:23, Reply)
You're dead?
You look well for it.
(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 20:27, Reply)
Thanks
It's amazing what you can do with a little foundation
(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 20:35, Reply)
Bit far
and I no longer drink so I don't see the point. I'm vaguely tempted by the wigan bash.
(, Mon 6 Sep 2010, 22:37, Reply)
I like you a lot PlumDozer, I really do.
But.....the north...? Come on now, be sensible.
(, Tue 7 Sep 2010, 8:39, Reply)
I dig you too Monty, but I do in fact live in York, even though I am Scottish.
I do love London though, but I am experiencing such cash flow issues right now that I have had to let my pastry chef go. If it gets that bad that I have to fire my sommelier then I will, quite frankly, be contemplating suicide. Either that or joining the proles in the workhouse, whichever is least bad.
(, Tue 7 Sep 2010, 18:13, Reply)
Don't think I can make it.
Enjoyed last year's piss up though.
