New Thread.
No question.

ANARCHY, YEAH?

EDIT: Oh bollocks, that's a question isn't it? Ah, tits, that's another one. Technically an 'alt'.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 17:48, 268 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
Maybe later. Just got home and got a couple of things to do before I can get all anarchic and stuff.
EDIT: you don't really want anarchy - you were moaning (quite rightly) about the tube strike earlier, which is nothing compared to anarchy.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 17:49, Reply)
whereas your bollocks are just questionable

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 17:49, Reply)
And I thought we were friends. I still thought this.

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 17:51, Reply)
Why have you got to be so mean to me?
I'm nice. I'm never mean to anyone. This is just singling me out for the purposes of online bullying. Just because my bollocks are 'unique' shall we say?

I'm just a happy-go-lucky, fun kind of chap.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 17:53, Reply)
haha
massive bullying right here.

How are you Monty?
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 17:56, Reply)
Not bad thank you.
You were in town last night for a gig, right?

If so, who, and any good?
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 17:57, Reply)
Saw iliketrains
and most of the opening band who were called Honour and Glory I think. They were both enjoyable, and I actually really liked the opening band (who I'd never heard of before.) So a good night thanks

What have you been up to?
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 18:00, Reply)
Lots of work. Little else.
Saw my kid Monday and will do again tomorrow night so very happy with that.

Less so with transport chaos: I'm off to do battle with the underground now, actually.

Toodleoo!
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 18:07, Reply)
We had enough anarchy last night.
Has sexface been banned yet?

I missed all of that.
he posted filth, right? I was advised to 'ignore' him before going to /OT today, and did so. Basically a Baldmonkey copyist, done slightly too late and with even less cheeky charm, right?

Sadly for many people jaded by pictures on the internet
the reaction would be 'meh'

I know one of the main actors in that. He was also in 'Snatch' and 'Band of Brothers'.

I've never seen any of them, which is a little embarrassing.

He plays Al Capone in Boardwalk Empire.
He's fucking HOTT.
Tell him I said so. With a wink.

Rightoh, I'm back
after a day of the broadband being down at work because my goon of a boss hasn't paid the bill. At least he sacked two of the idiot corrupt drivers who I don't get on with, result. Today I got given a smart old digital camera and a bunch of walking magazines, I got two chickens dirt cheap which I've portioned and the carcases are currently boiling for stock, and I feel like I have another cold coming on. Eventful day!

What about you lot?
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 18:29, Reply)
I bought a 4GB USB stick for £1.75!
thanks to asda screwing up the barcode thing, I think.

what camera?
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 18:34, Reply)
Olympus SP-500 Ultrazoom.
6MP, 10x optical zoom, lovely. It was £250 when my folks bought it new and it's in perfect nick.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:04, Reply)
Incident!
I finally decided which camera I'm going to get, and now just to wait to get started at work and paid before I can buy it. Deep joy!
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:10, Reply)
eek!
which one?
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:12, Reply)
Nikon D3100
Entry level, but with a cock-load of features. Need to haggle and try and get a free lens upgrade too, and possibly a free case.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:16, Reply)
this is more than acceptable!
Nikon are the business. I think it was the 3000 that some of my students had, it's pretty nice. Congratulations!
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:17, Reply)
3100 is a huge step up too
Live view, HD video, new processor, better sensor, all sorts really. Win.

Add another being made redundant - won't know the package for another three months though
Found out yesterday so my missus took me out and got me battered on 8% cider then destroyed me in nice ways for three hours. Took the edge off somewhat.

Ah, shit news mate.
You are still coming up at New Year though?
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:06, Reply)
Oh hell yeah.
Got a few months breathing space to find something new so it's not disastrous.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:06, Reply)
Cool.
I was looking at trains to Edinburgh for New year's day but the price has been artificially hiked. However, on the 2nd, it's about a tenner return, train leaving Morpeth at 10:30 and returning from Edinburgh at 9pm. Tempted?
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:08, Reply)
Ooh, definitely!
Sounds like a good plan :)
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:10, Reply)
I'll get confirmed numbers and book 'em as soon as possible.
So far us, you and Blousey. Probably Dianne 'n' Reg, whom you've met, possibly more b3tans but we don't know for definite if they are coming up.

Also if you want to make a long weekend of it, come up on the Thursday; there's always live bands on at Bubbles...

Been thinking of something new so this is an incentive. Was a big shock though.

And on that cheerier note, off to pub quiz and I've been promised a repeat of last night's adventures by Miss Beekers so all seems right with the world :)
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:11, Reply)
Not a shock for me

I have been sooooo tired, Amberl!

How you doing?
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:30, Reply)
That sounds like an ace night
the babylooking after sounded incredibly tiring.

I'm still pretty tired from last night, but good thanks. Apart from the being blonde moments!
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:35, Reply)
Did you get roped into Brighton or were you good?
I didn't even do any middle-of-the-night baby shifts, but as well as a full time job and all my other sheeit it got me well tired.
He is a joy though.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:37, Reply)
nope
but couldn't find my bus back (doesn't go from the coach station) so me and my brother wandered around for about an hour. Feet are killing me now. I've agreed to try and make it down for his 21st though I have no idea why he'd want me there!

Is it making you broody, or proving why you never want kids? The mum must be really happy to have some help though
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:48, Reply)
I've always loved kids
I used to think that meant I'd want to have one. But I'm not a cavewoman and I have been able to ignore the biological urges thus far.
There are too many fears and worries and changes to lifestyle that I don't think I'll ever bother confronting. There's time for me or dj to change our minds but it looks unlikely. Looking after babies is simple. Rearing someone from child to adult is another task entirely.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:52, Reply)
I've never had those urges.
I think I'm broken.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:56, Reply)
I've never had them either
but then I'm a realist
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:58, Reply)
You're only young so they might kick in yet.
I think if I'd have been with someone long time who wanted kids then I might have been persuaded.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:59, Reply)
I doubt it
I have a large family so I know what babies/children are like. I also know full right and well that I could never offer the same care and sacrifices that my mum did for me. Plus the whole revolted by pregnancy thing
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 20:01, Reply)
Realist in what sense?

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 20:00, Reply)
I'm not maternal
loads of female friends are already saying they can't wait to have children, or complaining of baby urges. Plus I have very specific career ideals and ambitions that don't mix with children, and I'm deadset on them
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 20:03, Reply)
Not being maternal isn't the realist bit. Your opinions and decisions are.
In a way I'm more of a realist because I have those hormonal urges but allow my life choices to give me the strength to ignore them.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 20:04, Reply)
That is realistic
Also I'm quite selfish. I'd never want to have a child and then deny it what it should have because I cared more for something else
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 20:06, Reply)
Good for you : )

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 20:05, Reply)
They're rubbish those urges.
They make you get physical pangs when you hold a baby and they make you sniff babies' heads.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:58, Reply)
I love sniffing babies.

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:59, Reply)
How do they get that smell?

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 20:05, Reply)

I'm thinking I'll likely have a baby before I get married
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 20:05, Reply)
I thought a few years ago about giving up on me and having a baby
Not telling the father and raising it with my family.
It was a ridiculous idea.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 20:06, Reply)
that is a ridiculous idea
glad you decided against it
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 20:08, Reply)
Me too!
Poor little bastard would have been insane
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 20:11, Reply)
I just couldn't handle the responsibility
and I'm way too selfish.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 20:12, Reply)
were you just going to pick up a stranger and have a go?

(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 20:12, Reply)
No
I hadn't planned that bit.
Even jizz by moped for £2000 was considered.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 20:15, Reply)
^this is truth
besides now relatives of yours are spawning you can satisfy baby urges by buying them stuff and fussing over them
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:59, Reply)
I'm hoping this will be enough for my mrs
she has said that seeing her sister have her kids has made her want them less. I take that as a very positive sign.

I bought 2 for £7 wine which was First Cape stuff. Drank it back with a friend and it tasted like fruit juice. It was 5.5% volume which was not advertised on the front- it just looked like their normal Cape Wine stuff
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:15, Reply)
Bastards.
If you have an Asda nearby go there. 3 for £10, several £5 - £7-odd bottles of proper stuff.

Also, Morrisons are doing half price Baileys this week, £9 something.

Sadly no ASDA
two Sainsburys, and in the last month a Tesco metro has opened up nearby.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:24, Reply)
I find Asda's wine deals to be better than anyone else's.
Which is about all that keeps me going there to be honest.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:26, Reply)
Thanks for the tip anyway
might visit my dad soon and there's probably an ASDA near him so might pop by. Also worth getting the Baileys
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 19:35, Reply)
^ definitely!
They have new flavours: hazelnut, creme caramel & choc mint.
1 litre bottles, half price this week at Morrisons :)

But once I had a rat. I tried to catch it in a humane trap by offering it sandwiches, but it kept eating them and getting away.

Eventually found it dead after it drowned in a small box of water :(

I once worked with a woman who used to sneak off to the loo every hour to take a slug of vodka. Poor cow was ratarsed by 2pm. She was eventually sacked for not handing money over that the punters had thought they were paying off their social fund loans.

Nice.
