Closely followed by crunchy-grilled Red Leicester on lightly toasted white farmhouse loaf.

Cheese-wise, Stilton, cheddar, crumbly Lancashire would by my favourites, but has to be Roquefort. Pity it's so expensive.

Bear with me here, it's a winner. Slice gorgonzola and put on bread. In a small saucepan heat up chopped dates with a splash of water to make a datey paste. Spread paste on cheese and put more bread on top. Behold the sandwich of the gods.
