NEW IMAGE CHALLENGE: DESKTOP ICON ART
This week's challenge is to make a picture using the icons on your desktop, like the example from thescotsman above. Or thereabouts.
Challenge inspired by this image, suggested by rob, and voted for by YOU.

How many of you bastards are now making a cock out of folders on your desktop?

I only have the recycle bin
which I lovingly try to position appropriately in the scene.
Not sure that qualifies though.

It's taken me YEARS of fighting my natural messiness, and finally an upgrade to Windows 7, to reach no icon nirvana.

Yet another challenge I can't do as it involves being able to "draw" (which I'm SHIT at).

I have the key.
I'm now working on a hole in the bin, into which I shall be pissing.

What I'm saying Redsushi is....
It involves being physically creative. The good thing about photoshopping is it meets you half way, the images are already out there, you've just got to cut them up & piece them together. This challenge involves actual artistic ability.
Sorry to bitch on, *climbs off soapbox*

it requires building a picture from desktop icons
rather than drawing. I like drawing.
but, meh. it doesn't matter, the challenge doesn't suit everyone.
just a bit odd having a challenge where the first image is quite so formidable.
I'm going to be spending more time wanking and crying this week, I can tell.

Anybody still have the link to the website this image came from?
not that I want to pretend anything from there is mine of course

It would be awesome if more than 3 people would actually make some like that.

I personally like the idea.
It would mean people making more of an effort.
Well, hopefully anyway ;)

Yeah, but lots of those who hang around here don't make that much actual effort with the image challenge.
If I could figure out how to change my background without crashing my laptop I'd enter.

I right click set a 20mb image of some spacey nebular thing as the background.
It looks pretty but now the display settings crashes everytime I want to change it.
I don't know how to without losing the spacey image. Does anyone know the file where the desktop images are kept?

What Operating System have you got?
There might be some way to reset the desktop automatically?

XP, I could probably right click save as desktop, but I don't want to lose my pretty space one.

Did you set it as a desktop direct from firefox or from a downloaded image?
I'll replicate what you did and see what happens.
I assume you did a search for the file already?

Direct from firefox. It's a very big image.
I don't know the name of the file, I could try searching for all pictures over a certain size. I didn't think of that.

I have a feeling that the image is renamed anyway
but searching for large images might work.

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox
But replace "User" with whatever your computer profile's name is.

The one plus of this compo is that it will be very hard to do quick and dirty efforts.
Okay I may be underestimating the retardedness of some, but in general this needs some time and effort. I reckon we'll get the best entries in a few days.
It might all work out okay :)

No real reason
I've always used it. Bit of a pain TBH - it saves as a TIFF as default...
