London bash

Cumberland Arms it is (we can always go somewhere else later if we want).

Nearest tube and mainline station is Kensington Olympia. Or you can walk there from Kensington High Street or Earl's Court if you're feeling energetic.

Bus routes:
Hammersmith Road 9, 10, 27, 28
Holland Road 49
North End Road 391
More bus-catching info here: journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk

BTW, I put 8 pm because that's when I'm planning to turn up - I assume the more hardcore drinkers will turn up earlier.

See you there!

my local is very sexy

and it's less than £3 for a pint

but we couldn't have a bash there...as I actually go there a lot and want to continue doing so. You and I can go there sometime, but minus the scary internet crowd :P

I will work on finding somewhere cool.

(, Wed 25 Jan 2006, 11:20, Reply)
hurry up

the cock.. clock is ticking

(, Thu 26 Jan 2006, 18:43, Reply)
OK, good plan

Somewhere cool would be good. : )

(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 18:38, Reply)
Since your One Life thing is in Kensington

How about somewhere in that area of town?

this advice obviously has nothing to do with the proximity of my house to Kensington...

(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 15:38, Reply)
That's not a bad idea

But I don't mind if other people would like it to be elsewhere, as I'll have to go back to my hotel and get changed in any case. And re-do my hair. And make up. And change my shoes. Etc.

(, Fri 27 Jan 2006, 18:37, Reply)
I've just realised I can't come

as I'm going to see Cat Power that night. I'll still try and scout out some places round Kensington for you though, if you'd like?

(, Tue 31 Jan 2006, 20:55, Reply)
That would be great, thanks

(, Tue 31 Jan 2006, 22:09, Reply)
Hmmm, I went to a place called the Greyhound on Kensington Square

Which was kind of generic, but cheap and had a fair few tables. This was a weekday though.

And another pub which was very nice, but charged £1.75 for la-de-la poncy crisps, and £2.50 for bread and butter. Gah!

(, Thu 16 Feb 2006, 8:28, Reply)

let's have it in guildford ;)

(, Tue 24 Jan 2006, 13:12, Reply)

(, Sun 29 Jan 2006, 16:11, Reply)
I thought Kensington was the mythical place

with streets paved with gold etc.

Do they even have pubs there?

(, Mon 30 Jan 2006, 16:12, Reply)
I don't think so

I heard normal household taps flow with fancy Belgium beers

(, Wed 1 Feb 2006, 11:19, Reply)

Wasn't there another bash there? What does everyone else think?

(, Tue 7 Feb 2006, 20:49, Reply)
it`s quite big and very very warm

but if you get there early and can nab a bunch of tables on the top floor at the back, it`s OK

.. if not, it`s hellish!

(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 21:57, Reply)
big places are a nightmare

if you want new faces to turn up. but if all else fails, a big fuck-off sign should work.

or just a bunch of little baby kittens draped all around the table.

(, Thu 9 Feb 2006, 12:02, Reply)
or a 2x scale model of rik

in the middle of the table

(, Sun 12 Feb 2006, 17:54, Reply)
Is anyone going to definitely be there early?

What time is that by the way?

I can't get there any earlier cos I'm working quite late.

(, Thu 9 Feb 2006, 18:36, Reply)
if i come i'll come early

edit: just realised how dodgy that sounded

(, Fri 10 Feb 2006, 12:39, Reply)
might be early.. might be late

it would help if there was a venue!

:p

(, Sun 12 Feb 2006, 17:55, Reply)
on second thoughts...

althought it's super nice, unless we get there before 6am, we will not be able to get a table.

(, Sun 19 Feb 2006, 13:21, Reply)
Cat Power's cancelled her gig

so I may be able to come after all.
You lucky, lucky people

(, Mon 13 Feb 2006, 17:48, Reply)

I can express no preference

because I know none of them. I'm guessing you live around kensington? :D

(, Sun 19 Feb 2006, 15:59, Reply)
No, I don't live in London, which is why I need help choosing a venue

I'm working in Kensington until quite late, and I don't want to turn up at a million o'clock, seeing as I'm organising it!

(, Mon 20 Feb 2006, 19:31, Reply)
I will be in Egypt

so can't make this one. Will I ever see you again??

(, Mon 20 Feb 2006, 11:29, Reply)
If you ever get your arse to the provincial bashes, like you promised!

But it's in Scary London,

so unless you re-venue the London bash to Leeds I won't be attending,

sorry.

(, Tue 21 Feb 2006, 16:59, Reply)

it`s just a dirty, expensive, depressing hole

there is a difference ;)

(, Wed 22 Feb 2006, 22:08, Reply)

Can't make it now on account of my sprog's birthday party.

(, Wed 22 Feb 2006, 9:43, Reply)

do you have some kind of thalidomide fetish?

(, Wed 22 Feb 2006, 22:09, Reply)
The infamous Cumberland

I'll be there as I live round the corner, and know the place well. There's even a nice ledge in the toilets for doing coke on, not that I'm into that kind of thing. I'm more of a Pepsi man anyway. Ah, the nights I've had in there! I feel a song coming on...

(, Thu 23 Feb 2006, 14:45, Reply)
Excellent

Look forward to meeting you. :)

(, Fri 24 Feb 2006, 9:04, Reply)
are we likely to get chucked out for being a bit noisy?

(, Sun 26 Feb 2006, 18:03, Reply)
Hmmm

Well never having been to a B3ta bash before I don't know what level of noise you're used to. Speaking of which, I've never been there on a Saturday so I don't know how noisy it is! Fridays are usually packed and fun, and Sundays are quiet and laid back. If it gets too bad we can always go to the Fox around the corner, it's always full on there - but I'd only use that as a last resort.

(, Tue 28 Feb 2006, 14:53, Reply)
we tend to get rowdy

I'm normally in a partial coma by 8pm

(, Mon 27 Feb 2006, 10:49, Reply)
Yup, I think most of the regulars will get there before me

Not sure what time though.

(, Tue 28 Feb 2006, 9:46, Reply)
Bah...

Gotta work saturday so won't be making it till 7 or 8 after all :(

(, Wed 1 Mar 2006, 10:37, Reply)
oh you

so stole my colour chart!

(, Fri 3 Mar 2006, 22:42, Reply)
I`d walk from Baron`s Court or West Kensington

waiting for a the Olympia tube is a really bad idea - there`s about 2 trains an hour and they`re packed to faaaaack

(, Wed 1 Mar 2006, 20:37, Reply)
So, who's going early?

And what time?

You see I might have to leave early again as some cahnt has just announced they're having a 21st Birthday party. And the party will be full of drunk young ladies

(, Thu 2 Mar 2006, 10:38, Reply)
6.30ish for me

(, Thu 2 Mar 2006, 14:17, Reply)
I`ll aim for about 6-ish

but it`s a bit of a walk from teh tube (again: do not wait for that district line! - trust me on nothing ever but this one small thing)

(, Fri 3 Mar 2006, 22:20, Reply)
I've experienced the vagaries of the district line and agree

I shall be walking from the nearest picadilly line station (although the picadilly shuts down most weekends!)

(, Sat 4 Mar 2006, 9:58, Reply)
fuck I forgot to check

all travel plans are officially scuppered!

www.tfl.gov.uk/tube/travelinfo/picc-dis-weekend-closure.asp

here`s the online maps for anyone interested: www.tfl.gov.uk/tube/maps/

fucking useless cunts

(, Sat 4 Mar 2006, 13:11, Reply)
for fuck's sake

It would take me an hour and half on a good service

I think I'm gonna be a blow out as I wasn't satying all night anyway

(, Sat 4 Mar 2006, 14:20, Reply)
Aye, this begins to look dodgy

but we should be strong and try and make it...

I think I'll central line to Shepherd's bush and walk, be about a mile by my reckoning (bit worried about being able to find my way back at the end though!)

(, Sat 4 Mar 2006, 14:39, Reply)
if you have a travel card, claim for the journey anyway

say that because they cancelled your service, you couldn`t make your journey - you`ll get 2 refunds

the cunts`ll have to learn some day that 7 day travel means 7 day travel, not "16 hours travel, 6 days a week, on a mode of transport that we decide for you"

(, Sat 4 Mar 2006, 14:41, Reply)
ranting aside....

can still get shitty district to Earl's court and walk, or central line to notting hill where you can get a 28 bus straight to the b3ta table.

I realise that doesn't really work for you!

(, Sat 4 Mar 2006, 14:58, Reply)
I`ll try the walk from Shepherd`s fucking bush

hopefully be there by about 7:30 :/

(, Sat 4 Mar 2006, 17:38, Reply)

You love London really
\

(, Sat 4 Mar 2006, 17:25, Reply)
Hmmmmmmm,

I am tempted by this, must see if I can find a London sofa to kip on, tho.

(, Thu 2 Mar 2006, 14:11, Reply)
Come

Someone will be able to put you up.

(, Thu 2 Mar 2006, 15:48, Reply)
i won't be coming to this now :(

i hope you all have a good time!

(, Fri 3 Mar 2006, 11:19, Reply)
useless cunt!

you will be sorely missed.

(, Fri 3 Mar 2006, 12:01, Reply)
I`m thinking of cancelling

without Piccadilly/District lines, this place is going to be a bollocks to get to

.. will look at the maps a bit more and decide :\

(, Sat 4 Mar 2006, 13:21, Reply)
wuss!

either take the circle/district line to earls court and work something out from there (walk / bus / olympia tube)
or take the hammersmith&city to hammersmith and bus/walk a couple of minutes east along hammersmith road

(, Sat 4 Mar 2006, 13:55, Reply)
but it ain`t running that far

we`re coming from west London (despite what the geographic cunts might say) - there`s nothing after Acton Town

the only way I can go is via Northolt (a good 30-45 minutes) to Shepherd`s Bush (shite shite) and then try something from here

but it`s supreme hassle - at least I could have made it to Teh Imperial! ;)

(, Sat 4 Mar 2006, 14:39, Reply)
it does make you realise

how easy the Imperial is!

(, Sat 4 Mar 2006, 14:59, Reply)
ALWAYS

pick a pub near at least 4 tube lines

lesson to be learned by young pachey!
