This is a question Bugs and feature requests

Found a problem on B3ta? Want other features that we don't currently offer? Type your ideas here with your finger-mouths. (We don't promise we'll act on any of it, but we will read it and your words could even prompt us into action.)

Not sure if this is what Capn Tallbeard was saying below,
but to link to a previous post, I have to write down the link by mouseovering the icon, then enter it by hand.

Is there already a way to link to previous posts or could a way be found?

/board request line
Not for compo suggestions, but for individual pics?

I have a bunch of ideas that would be funny, but no 5k1llzorz!!!

Why not have a way to post suggestions for pics we'd like to see but can't be arsed/can't do ourselves?

I'd like to see how many people
'Liked This'

Not who, just how many.

I want to see how popular my most QOTW answer was, and the feel inadiquate to say, frankspencer, or apeloverage.

QOTW
There has been a message for ages saying that a reply function is "coming soon" to the QOTW board. It's been there for months and I know that the QOTW regulars would like to have that function.

when editing an archived post;
add an option to upload the image to $GENERIC_B3TA_FRIENDLY_SERVER,
and re-write the link. This means it'd be easy to
future-proof the archives; for many images will currently be on $RANDOM_USER_WEBSITE_THAT_MIGHT_DISAPPEAR

Simple enough idea
Make the b3ta image in the top left corner of the front page a link to the front page so that those of us with broken F5 keys can refresh with our other hands

How about a 'Linkify' button on the normal reply/post new message screen?
i.e. not the quick reply, the one where it goes to a new page

THIS HAS SOME AGREEMENT WITH QOTW USERS
I think we also need a QOTW Talk board so that we can have live multi-person conversations as well as the Official QOTW board for proper on-topic answers.

General chit-chat and slanging is a lot of fun, and the QOTW users are pretty distinct from /links and /talk users...

Posting limit
Wouldn't it be nice if there was a limit on posts per person per QOTW? I mean, every week now there are many nonsense/repetitive posts from a couple users that just takes up space. :P Apologies if there is already!
Oh, and it would be nicer if you could use that high tech FULL OF BS filter. You know, the one that catches all the "friend of a friendthe of a friend of a friend's story" -aka- urban legends. :B

Much as I am reluctant to suggest this
I feel it has merit.

How about a "for fuck's sake MODs please do something about this spackwit" button?
Perhaps a Klaxxon and a blue flashing light could go off to alert you?

Prime example : b3ta.com/board/7618109

Basic filtering
Some basic filtering would be nice. On things like how long they've been a member, How many people have hidden a thread, How many people are ignoring a twunt etc etc etc

Request: Could we have Preview in gaz please?
Not terribly important, but something I miss when composing a message is the ability to see how it'll look to the reader.

Replaces the spaces
in the links that follow posts (I like this!, Message Me etc.) with  s so that they don't get broken at the end of a line.

Just a purely aesthetic suggestion.

Enigmatic said on /talk:
I am now convinced I am invisible. Not one question I have asked today has been answered.
This would be a great way of banning, the banned person sees their posts as if nothing is wrong, but no one else sees, and the person has no idea. [my emphasis]

I agree; this would be ace.

API...
...Make a B3ta API for us geeks. Also, more stats/graphs, etc.

How about a new question of the week?
The current one is more tired than a granny doing the London Marathon.
(, Thu 30 Aug 2007, 11:32, Reply)
Ignore is potentially too severe (and final)
How about giving the option to ignore for a day/week/month/whatever as well as a final doomsday option.

Failing that, simply allowing a user to add a comment in his/her ignore list as to the reasons for the ignore being issued e.g. "obviously pissed, give him another chance" or "complete bawbag! GtF!".
(, Mon 27 Aug 2007, 21:15, Reply)
Make everyone
use <span style="font-weight: bold;"></span> instead of <b></b>, in the interest of web standards.
(, Sat 25 Aug 2007, 16:49, Reply)
A link to the /links board,
from the front page. You could always remove the /talk button, for example.
(, Sat 25 Aug 2007, 0:18, Reply)
let us use the underline tag! <u> </u>
it can't possibly do any more harm than strikethrough.
(, Fri 24 Aug 2007, 17:37, Reply)
Tag posts for /links
So when you post a new link you can tag it as "games" or "youtube" or "cute kittens"

Would make it easier to find stuff that's been posted before

Achievements.
Some sort of Xbox Live style achievements, like "X amount of /talk popular posts" in the profile.
(, Sat 18 Aug 2007, 12:30, Reply)
a list of dull users
so that we can ignore them. maybe when a troll comes on there post could be marked with a nice shitty brown colour, and what Nobby said down there v

I want a ten minute delay after JMG posts a talk thread before anyone else can post a follow up
that is all
(, Tue 14 Aug 2007, 23:53, Reply)
I'd like to be able to
see in my profile how many people have me on ignore. I don't need to know who they are, just how many.
If people see they're being ignored it might make them try a little harder to play nice.

Isn't it time for a new interview?
I'd love one with Stephen Fry.
