Sunday plans? Mine are to blitz the flat all over, get the whole lot cleaned up and looking good again, not that it looks bad now, it could just do with a bit of a top-up. Ma' is then taking me to some homeware store to look at tealight holders and bits'n'bobs like that, might get some photo frames and maybe some art or whatever. I want to do some work on my mobile app that I was working on before, bring that project to life again.

The missus is being heavily courted by Qatar University.
Pros:
-up to about $90K/year tax-free income. (Above that it gets taxed at US rates.)
-housing and utilities provided.
-free education for me, if I want to get a Masters.
-lots of expatriates to hang out with.
-a three year contract (in case we hate it).
Cons:
-hotter than hell.
-loads of sand and not much else there.
-limited number of places you're allowed to drink as a non-Muslim adult.
-to get said free education I'd have to wear native garb. (Although an Arab man-dress might be comfortable...)
-being halfway around the globe from my family. (Which might actually be a pro, now that I think about it...)
-hotter than hell.
-did I mention the heat?
Anyone else got input on this? If it comes available, should we go for it or avoid it like a biblical plague?

My housemate's Dad seems to think he can improve the fuel efficiency of his car using water, that it's the hydrogen from the water, apparently splitting the water molecule using the leftover heat from the engine. I think he is wrong, as it takes more energy to split said molecule than what you will get by burning the leftover hydrogen. This caused an argument by the way. Can you settle this?

Time for a BBC newslink.
There's been some discussion on the radio this morning about this: www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-16535191
I general I think I agree with the principle, but is there a difference between a teacher not being competent, and a teacher being unable to do their job properly because of the badly behaved, disruptive little shits they have to try and teach in the first place?
I'm not giving you an alt as no doubt you'll find some other way to amuse yourselves anyway you undisciplined spastics.

Not running ones but in fact Monty's faves. I'm currently having to deal with a Swedish chap who is the archetypal stereotype of a Scandinavian. He is 100% logical and also refuses to admit when he is wrong
Tell me of your stereotypes oh please, denizens of offtopic

My ex just told me she's taking my kid to church this Sunday - this is a ruse (too late anyway I suspect) to get her a place at the Catholic primary school where she's currently doing pre-school.
I have a massive moral objection to the Catholic church in particular. CofE are just amiable and stupid, but I genuinely believe some of the principal tenets of Catholicism are actively bad and I really don't want my daugher to be fed a pack of lies and be left with guilt complexes and other wrong things. The idea that you can be exonerated from anything you've done by repeating some fucking mumbo-jumbo is extremely bad news if you ask me, and don't even get me started on transubstantiation...
BUT - all the non-faith schools in our area are really, really shit and all the kids struggle with English. Which is worse? Having a sub-standard academic training or a better one but being fed a pack of evil lies in exchange? I really am troubled by this.
