Generic Lunch Thread
I got Chicken Teryaki Noodle Soup. I wish I got this years ago, it's so lush, loads and loads of chicken and noodles.
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 12:32, 56 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
I do like noodles
I had a turkey and stuffing sandwich.
Turkey meh
Stuffing excellent.

Subway, I'm less than pleased about this

(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 12:37, Reply)
I am going to have what is locally referred to as a dog shit sandwich.
That is, pork, dipped in something (I'm not quite sure what, exactly, but it's thick and brown and not gravy) with stuffing. It looks like dog shit, but tastes excellent.
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 12:38, Reply)
HaHa. Pork 'n' Sump Oil.
Lunch of kings. Nearly as good as a savoury dip (bread bun dipped in hot fat and filled with mashed up left over meat with stuffing and pease pudding).

sounds weirdly good

(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:02, Reply)
Nice
Can I try one while I'm up in January? There is a good chance the mrs will be coming with me now.
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 12:46, Reply)
Of course.
They really are very tasty. Remind me when you're up again?

I love weird local things like this, I don't think London has anything like that =(

(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 12:49, Reply)
I think jellied eels are quite weird and local to London.

(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 12:55, Reply)
Double double's are London's speciality along with eels.
But I think the fact that in town you can get pretty much any delicacy from round the world is London's 'thing'.
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 12:58, Reply)
Yeh', that's true.

(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:02, Reply)
Still a dogshit sandwich runs that pretty close, eh Gonz!

(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:04, Reply)
can't get staffordshire oatcakes
and that's racism
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:06, Reply)
Don't Sainsbury's sell them?
They are great with bacon and black pudding.
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:14, Reply)
years ago they used to round here
but not any more :(
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:19, Reply)
'El Goog' tells me you can buy the mix on line.

Wooo!
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:27, Reply)
someone made some for me once
they were good, but I think it might be beyond my abilities
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:37, Reply)
A fucking tramp's shoe
would taste great, given enough bacon and black pudding.
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:30, Reply)
But nobody eats them except tourists.

(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:02, Reply)
They do round my way.
Proper East End pie & mash is fucking revolting too. There's a gorgeous looking place just up from my house, I went when I moved to the area. Never again: the pies are fucking repulsive.
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:15, Reply)
I've started messing about with variations on the recipe in the link
www.grouprecipes.com/4185/budae-jjigae-army-base-stew.html

I've got a really basic version for work which is noodles, 1/3 can of corned beef & hot sauce - It sounds grim but you get a really meaty broth mixed in with the noodles and a bit of kick from the sauce. I like it though, plus it costs fuck all to make.
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 12:44, Reply)
That looks fucking hideous, if I am honest.

(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:29, Reply)
I had Scotch broth
chilli Doritos and cranberry juice for lunch
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 12:45, Reply)
Just had the new flavour Innocent veg pot (peri peri) and a mug of green tea.
Now enjoying a post meal cigarette. Great days.

team christmas lunch
i ordered ages ago, think it's goats cheese and mushroom something, followed by vegetable pancakes, followed by triple choc cheesecake. but i fully intend to expend my time and energy on vodka, not food!
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 12:48, Reply)
Chicken sammich and french fries snacks.

(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 12:50, Reply)
Pea and ham soup, smoked salmon pate and crackers.
Dull, dull, dull.

I'm not in the best of moods today,
It would take something very exciting to not be a dull lunch.

(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:33, Reply)
Pre-cisely.

(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:36, Reply)
i have super noodles!
Interview done, already knew all the interviewers, possibly intimidated the next candidate as I was talking with one of the other lecturers about people we both know.
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:01, Reply)
Cheese and branston pillocks.
On a multi seed baggit.
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:05, Reply)
I have mince pies
Because I was at Tesco, and felt Christmassy. Heating it up in the microwave made it fall apart though.
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:06, Reply)
The only way I can force a mince pie down
is by prising the lid off and putting a fucking great lump of brandy butter in it, and the pouring cream over the top. Without that, they are dull, dry, nasty little fuckers, I reckon.
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:12, Reply)
I hate mince pies and christmas pudding.
I do however indulge in a little fruit cake and cheese at Christmas.
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:17, Reply)
I have fruit salad instead of Christmas pudding,
and used to have a chocolate and cranberry cake in place of Christmas cake, before I confessed I didn't even want chocolate cake so my mother stoped making me one. It's all about savouries for me.

Cold roast potatoes dunked in bread sauce, gammon, a selection of mustards, fine cheeses....that's what I like about Christmas fare. Those and vintage port.
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:20, Reply)
You're so wrong
a decent homemade mince pie is a thing of gorgeous beauty, and christmas pudding, especially homemade pudding, is just wonderful.

(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:23, Reply)
Can I be Lily?

(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:26, Reply)
It's a deal!
*warbles and waddles*
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:29, Reply)
Let's face it you have more hutzpah to be Bette.

(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:30, Reply)

which is no bad thing

(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:31, Reply)
Done

(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:32, Reply)
I'm just trying to decide this very issue
I think I may go for soup, sammich and nana.

I have a bastard sore throat. I don't think I could manage anything crunchy.
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:25, Reply)
And what does your nana have to say about this?

(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:29, Reply)
So long as it's not MY nana
She's the only one I have, and she's just got some new snow-spikes.
(, Thu 9 Dec 2010, 13:29, Reply)
I had a whole rack of lamb
AND a ribeye steak.

Meeeeeeat!
