Weekend lolz
What are your plans? I am going to IKEA (yeah, I know) then buying spirits to work on my cocktail making.

alt: What would you ask Murdoch if you were an MP on the DCMS Select Committee?
(, Fri 15 Jul 2011, 7:17, 174 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
Drinks with mates in the city, some early birthday presents hopefully
I might actually go to Ikea, I need a bunch of stuff for the new place - a coatstand, some kitchen shelves, a PC workstation/little desk - and it seems like it might be worth a look.

I'm told the one in Beijing is a Mecca for foreigners finally able to find stuff they can understand
Chinese furniture/homeware is often kitschy beyond belief.

Very quiet one this weekend
Having been at two gigs in the last two evenings I'm knackered.
Incidentally, don't suppose any Manc-based peeps heard anything about a fire at Manchester Catehdral last night? We got evacuated during Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan and the gig got cut short.
(, Fri 15 Jul 2011, 8:37, Reply)
Oh, what a shitter.
Where they good? That guy really has got a voice like a bag of spanners. In a good way.

They were amazing
They did an hour and a quarter so we didn't feel too cheated.

It was a surprise birthday present from Miss Beekers
I had no idea they were playing 'til she handed me the ticket.
I missed Potiche last week at my local cinema. Had something else planned every night it was on. I'll have to wait for the DVD now.

How's the house buying going?
(, Fri 15 Jul 2011, 9:01, Reply)
Slowly.
Kinda assuming that no news is good news. I'm sure if there was some horrible error, the bank'd've shouted by now.
(, Fri 15 Jul 2011, 9:03, Reply)
Or they're stringing me along, like the bunch of cunts they are.

(, Fri 15 Jul 2011, 9:04, Reply)
It's more likely that one or more people involved in the whole situation (bank, solicitor, other vendor)
is a disorganised twat and forgot something.

That pretty much always happens, don't sweat it.
(, Fri 15 Jul 2011, 9:07, Reply)
Yeah,
I'm just waiting really. No hassle either way, worst case is it all falls through, and I've paid a bit of money out to survey-stuff. That happens, I'll just start looking again.
Anyway, best be off, time to go work.
(, Fri 15 Jul 2011, 9:09, Reply)

She kicked everyones arses so it went as smoothly as these things can.
(, Fri 15 Jul 2011, 9:27, Reply)
when we bought ours was fine, but the one working for the guy buying our flat was fucking useless
she'd set deadlines for stuff, everyone else would be ready and then on that day she just wouldn't be in her office, and not even her assistant knew where she was.

Our flat was built on an old brickyard as well, and for some reason she decided she needed to see the planning permission for when it was turned into a brickyard in 1934...
(, Fri 15 Jul 2011, 9:29, Reply)
I'd have been more concerned that it was built on a load of shit that they chucked in the ground after the brickyard closed.

(, Fri 15 Jul 2011, 9:30, Reply)
it's fine
I looked through the remediation report and it's mostly inert and stuff. They built the play area on the bit that was dodgy.
(, Fri 15 Jul 2011, 9:33, Reply)
Was this produced by an independant investigation
or was this the report provided by the landfill operator?
(, Fri 15 Jul 2011, 9:39, Reply)
it was independent as far as I recall
it was some years ago now.
(, Fri 15 Jul 2011, 9:44, Reply)
As long as it's only the children that'll fall into a sinkhole.

Gigs and not gigs
I'm going to see these lovely people tonight: www.youtube.com/watch?v=EY_ishoqpl0
And I was supposed to be playing a gig myself on Sunday in that London, but it turns out that the organiser got his dates mixed up so now I'm not.
Alt: If I let you off, can I have a lucrative job writing a column in one of your rags?
(, Fri 15 Jul 2011, 9:07, Reply)
Out with my chums this evening I think.
Supposed to be doing a ten-mile walk tomorrow but it looks like it's going to piss it down for the majority of the day so that might be off in favour if sitting in a pub and eating and drinking for the afternoon. Sunday I'm going to a barbecue which is likely to be washed out, so I guess I'll be going to a living room and kitchen squeezed full of people who keep looking at the sky.
(, Fri 15 Jul 2011, 9:15, Reply)
I went to google DCMS Select Committee then realised even if I found it I don't care enough to read it.
My plans is to sleep in tomorrow. Then I'm going to go for a walk if the weather holds. And I'll probably study a bit.

as you age you will realise just how stupid most people are.

(, Fri 15 Jul 2011, 9:30, Reply)
If I'm honest, I only watched it because I was feeling like a thicko in my Functional Anatomy class.
it was just an overload of information and I needed to just shut my brain off for a while. Worked a treat!

In unrelated news, there are a lot of sparrows nesting in my garden at the moment, and from where I am sitting I can see them hopping about finding bits and pieces. It's very sweet.

I visited for a month in 2003
then I lived there for a year between November 2003 and November 2004 which is where I met my now wife, then I went back for three weeks over New Year in 2008/2009, which is where I got engaged.

And I'm heading out again next Feb/March.

Sydney.
The best city.

My cousin lives there, and now so does one of my best friends and her husband.

I've been there twice
it was warm and cold, respectively.

But it's not as good as Sydney.

A nice relaxed weekend
Some of it playing tour guide and pointing out some of the nice bits of Sahrf Lahndin (yes, we do have some).

Alt: Does this smell like cyanide to you?

It occured to me this morning
That most of us at 16 probably said some really fucking daft things (and still do) we just didn't have the Internet to do it on. So I am going to cut freefair some slack. Plus when I was 16 I wanted to fuck all the 15 year old girls in my year.

That said if he isn't for real he can get to fuck the dirty paedo.

He's for real
and I agree it's fucking stupid telling a 17 year old he's a nonce.
