of every minute detail. This is a pretty big scandal, certainly, but last week it was the Duke and Duchess's visit to Canada.
You can't get away from it. I'd like to hear about something different happening, not be constantly bombarded from all directions by analyses of all the tiny facets of this week's story.
It's *boring*

The 'news' is regularly fucking dull, and every tedious little story is eked out into an EPIC SAGA because there's not enough genuinely interesting stuff to fill the nosey, boring-lifed requirements of the mongs, proles and spastics who devour it voraciously.
On the whole if you read only the headlines you have more than enough to go on. Much more, unless the contents of Cheryl Cole's kippery minge hold a morbid fascination for you.
Hope this helps x

I hate him with a passion - 'Egypt's Indiana Jones' is about right: a fictional knob-end with barely any connection to serious archaeology, he's ruined almost every Egypt documentary made in the last ten years with his wild sensationalist speculation dressed as 'definite fact'. This is about systematically destroying the highly effective and innovative global media empire Mr Murdoch has work so hard throughout his life to build up. Why shouldn't he own BSkyB, after he risked everything to provide a world class service to millions of Brits and Irish.
Would the BBC and the newly re-Ideological Labour look upon this so harshly if this was Trinity Mirror? Would they my Arse.
I struggle to see how this is the Fault of the Murdochs.
When a rape is committed in a rented house, one does not apportion blame on the landlord.
(, Tue 19 Jul 2011, 10:19, Reply)
Media concentration is quite a large threat to the country. Secondly, need I remind you that it is in the BBC's mandate to actually have reporting from a neutral standpoint. Trinity Mirror is just one part of a larger press, of which 80% is mostly Tory-leaning anyway.
If you want a simple reason as to why Murdoch shouldn't own BSkyB, look at Fox News.

Rape is typically a crime of passion, and as such is rarely planned. Whilst one would not blame a landlord for a singular rape in his property, if a group of people were using a prominent, lucrative residence to persistently commit aggravated sexual assault over a period of several years, any landlord who claimed to have no idea of the goings on would have to be an idiot or a liar.

1: Monopolies are illegal. This is what Murdoch is trying to get and this is why there was controversy over him buying out BSkyB before this scandal hit. BSkyB is our biggest broadcaster. Almost everything that is not the BBC is owned by BSkyB
2: Biased media is not a good thing. Even a schoolchild such as you ought to be able to see that. Biased media makes it easy for powerful people to sweep things they don't want to acknowledge under the carpet. Fox News, for example, has not reported a single thing on the phone hacking scandal, not a sausage. With all our media controlled by one man, nothing detrimental to Murdoch would get reported.
3: Rupert Murdoch is a conniving, sly, dirty fucking bastard.

One might argue that he is clearly good at what he does to have done so well, and this may be true, but what he is good at may well be pandering to people's fears and prejudices, rather than providing fair and balanced news. Still a cut above all other modern pop, however. Judas is a great tune.

Really enjoying it actually.

I promise it isn't trollish. Although the guy does look a lot like Frodo.

Monty would of course hate it, as it isn't Vivaldi.
(, Tue 19 Jul 2011, 11:26, Reply)
In fairness most of what he likes is actually good stuff, but the list of what he hates contains a lot of perfectly decent bands too.
(, Tue 19 Jul 2011, 11:33, Reply)
it's all subjective, and happy as I am to hear someone explain how wonderful what they like is, deriding stuff you don't like is only fun if you're slating something you both hate with a friend.
Edited to add: My musical taste can be pretty fucking sketchy at times though.

and you're right. he does. in a really weird way.

I have even mixed into it seamlessly from a song by Monty's favourite band Combichrist.

He is the bestest sock ever and I (Nazi)salute you Monty. But I was referring to Darth's earliest insinuation that he was your illegitimate offspring.

he's going to convince us he's right, if he just tries hard enough.
(, Tue 19 Jul 2011, 11:15, Reply)
It's like a conspiracy theory who just won't shut up despite overwhelming evidence that they're chatting complete and total bollocks.
I had to deal with one of those recently. Fucking hell, what a dick.

entertaining as hell to see him arguing with someone like Enzyme

He's the best kind of entertainment. His utter refusal to back up his arguments with facts is hilarious.

Youth politics trap of having a radical phase and being all "down the establishment and western civilization".You know, the sort of views people generally grow out of once they leave Uni.
(, Tue 19 Jul 2011, 11:41, Reply)
and besides, you only have to look at Journalists like the Hitchens bothers and Melanie Phillips, and Pop Musicians to see how so many people go from radical to moderate.

Liberal (David Cameron), Libertarian (Portillo), Thatcherite, One Nation (Ken Clarke) or Traditionalist (Widdecombe)?
(, Tue 19 Jul 2011, 11:52, Reply)
You? when I saw you in the flesh I was frankly surprised that you were not Ann Widdecombe based on your expressed political views. This is probably offensive in several ways, for which I a sorry, but it's also true.
(, Tue 19 Jul 2011, 11:52, Reply)
I hardly ever talk about politics on here and when I do I'm quite clearly not Anne Widdicombe, I just look like her.
I realise ToryBoy will now be wanking at the thought

I mean, that's a lot of ugly to happen to one person. You'd have to be extremely unfortunate in your genes. Statistically unlikely.

And, no you don't talk politics much on here,(I try not to either as a rule, but I can't help it when FreeFare starts) but we argued about something a while back, when I may, just may, have been in a bad mood, and I formed that rather unflattering opinion at that time.

so long as you're informed and capable of mounting a cogent defence of your opinions, which you're not.

Being all radical and libertarian, and once you get older you'll become more conservative and Tory and settle down. I did similar I was more of an anarchist when younger (which is really just a less cunty libertarian) and as I get older I get more and more Marxist, it's just different sides of the political coin, combined with your inability to see that you are 16 and your views will change and mature as you do.

Just try not to stop questioning and thinking would be the only favour I'd ask if I thought you'd do me any. Take nothing on faith and don't be afraid to admit you're wrong, because you will be, often.
