Quick question
does anyone know anything about paypal? For some reason it says that my balance is £50 but my available balance is only £17, but since the £50 went in nothing has gone out. WHERE'S MAH MONEH BITCH!

I also have a boring Word related query if anyone wants to put their underwear on the outside and help me?

Alt hopefully less boring Q: what's the best holiday you've been on and why?
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 14:46, 219 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
what's the word query?
alt: 2 weeks in the Outer Hebrides earlier this year. Beautiful place, great food, just me and the mrs, got engaged. Lovely.

I'm surprised.

Whenever one of our secretaries highlights a sentence to make it bold or whatever,
it automatically updates the whole bloody document and messes with the margins, etc. I created a new template for her with all the correct fonts and stuff in the hope it would clear it, but it didn't. I've gone through the help bit which says to untick the 'automatically update' box for each of the formatting sections, but the box is already unticked. It's driving me crazy!
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 14:50, Reply)
It'll be a change in her normal.docx file
find that delete it, delete the system 32 folder.
Restart your computer. open word, make a new file go save as call it i'mamassiveidiot.doc and then jump out the window.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 14:53, Reply)
I've already deleted and created a brand new template for her
and it's not docx, it's word 03.

thanks for being a jerk though, that's helpful.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 14:57, Reply)
Did you delete the normal template though?
That's loaded in the background.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 14:58, Reply)
yes, completely.
I deleted it and created a brand new template. Is there somewhere else I should be deleting it from?
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 15:04, Reply)
nope,
Is it only when they highlight and type over?
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 15:07, Reply)
No
it seems to be no matter where or how you click the bold, underline, etc, it just turns the whole thing spaccy.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 15:09, Reply)
ps don't do any of that
but it'll probably be a change in the "normal" file which is the default template and is loaded everytime they open word.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 14:58, Reply)
ok I'll try deleting it again again.

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 15:07, Reply)
Don't bother

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 15:17, Reply)
I'm sorry can you explain that a bit more please?
I'm not that clevers.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 15:28, Reply)
that sounds annoying
and the sort of thing that I generally fix by fiddling with the appropriate settings until it sorts itself out.

Word is the most stupid of programs.

I would've thought making the new template would sort it...
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 14:54, Reply)
I wish people would try and fix things themselves,
but because they know that I can usually figure out how to fix things they don't even bother, they just ring me. I fucking hate it, I left IT for a reason.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 15:08, Reply)
I find the same
I fix almost all problems with computers that people have here, and the way I do it is by having a rough idea of how to use the software and then following some sensible avenues of investigation.

The level of ineptitude with IT in my office baffles me.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 15:53, Reply)
It's not ineptitude. It's fucking lazyness.
One of the reasons I retired.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 16:30, Reply)
The last one, to the South of France
although I was pretty torn up emotionally, it was a fantastic holiday, and just what I needed health-wise. Plus I got to try new and exciting things like veal, swim in a lovely cool pool and drink copious amounts of gin at any time during the day.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 14:49, Reply)
I know nothing about the other two, sorry.

Dah pretty ladies around the world
Got a weird turd to show you,
So tell all the boys and girls.
Tell your brother, your sister
And mama too, cause they’re
About to go down
And you’ll know just what to do.
Wave your hands in the air
Like you don’t care, glide by
The People as they start to poop and stare.
Do you dump, do your dump quick
Mama, come on baby, tell me what’s
The Turd, ah turd up,
Everybody say when you hear the call
You got to get it underway,
Turd up, it’s the code word,
No matter where you say it,
You’ll know that you’ll be heard.

Our next will be our fourth.

Only to pop in on other families staying at their places.
Is that fort in the Channel still on their books?

I always planned to have a truly debauched party there one day.

You could make the most amazing racket

I would definitely come to your party
and offer the services of my mediocre band
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 16:05, Reply)
We should
form our own super-group especially for the occasion.

we won't need to practice because it'll be one big psychadelic freakout

One of the best sleeves ever, that one.

Can't help with the first two.
Holidays, however... 3 weeks on the west coast of the states San Fransisco, Vegas, L.A. and San Diego) was pretty amazing; 3 weeks driving around Florida ditto; skiing in Vermont; every time we've been to Kos.

I shan't include the last minute week in Spain (got the shits for the whole week) and Gran Canaria (got ripped off to the tune of around £2500) in those.

My best ever holiday
(if you can call it that) was when me and my chum Nick were trusted to go unsupervised to the Treworgey Tree Fayre, Liskeard, Cornwall 1989. I was 15. It was incredible.

Foreign holiday-wise my tour of Ancient Greek sites (also '89) was incredible, and I managed to acquire a lovely girlfriend on that trip too. Seeing thick dawn mist rising at Delphi is a sight never to be forgotten.

New york for a week during christmas when it was snowing and OH WOW TALL BUILDINGS and walking all the way up'n'down the statue of liberty...
... and going to that toy store with the huge peino you stamp on.

Followed by a trip down to florida where we were invited to the Flordia Panther's first game by the NHS and disney world/epcot/that-sort-of-thing and swimming with dolphins.

I love paypal for its ease and like how loads of online shops use it, it means I can shop at work without having to get my card out.

I've been on loads of great holidays, probably the best was a month in aus with a long weekend in singapore on the way home.
