I gritted the driveway of my work neighbour this morning as I knew I'd end up driving onto it and pinballing my way around the forecourt when I came to get my car this evening otherwise
In return they bought me hot chocolate to say thank you and invited me out for a snowball fight with their husky puppy at lunchtime. I have NEVER seen a dog love snow as much as he did :)

What nice things have you done for people that's worked out well for both of you?

AltQ: since Monty hates them, what's your favourite zombie film/computer game/tv show of all time and why?
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 14:18, 167 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
Probably Braindead
because of the bit with the lawnmower

or Boy Eats Girl because of the bit with the tractor-mounted hedgetrimmer.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 14:20, Reply)
Ohboyohboyohboy! this is my kind of question.
*asplodes thinking about favorite zombies*

I quite liked Dead snow just for the idea of zombies and nazis combined.

I'm still trying to convince my flatmate to watch that because its hilarious. She hates horror though :(

(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 14:25, Reply)
I've started to really enjoy horror films over the last year, I'm not sure what triggered it.

(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 14:35, Reply)
I have an unwatched copy of that.

Switch your brain off and watch it.

Fuck all
Every time I do something kind my heating breaks down or I have a pipe burst and then my landlady treats me like I've done it on purpose and shut shut up and enjoy having no heat or water.

So I'm doing fuck all kind things for anyone anymore.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 14:21, Reply)
Same
I bought my Stratford friends awesome birthday gifts over the year, and not one of them got me anything for my birthday. Still bitter about that after a whole month.

He says so
He said my pump had burnt out. It had not bunt out last night I was looking at it. I think HE has burnt it out this morning in the course of his FAIL.
He has fitted a new one. So, I'm assuming that whatever made the heating fuse yesterday remains undetected.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 14:38, Reply)
Ahh so it burnt in that special place that only people who fix things can see. Well done him
Wrap tigger round your head and you'll warm right up if it's not fixed
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 14:43, Reply)
he said "You'll smell electrical burning in your airing cupboard."
I said "I did not yesterday."
He said "Yeah. So I've put a new one in."
Tigger is very cross with him. You know how they demand warmth!

How's you?

Dodgy as scouse cunt!
I'm good thanks. Finals are a week tomorrow and as of 6.30 this evening, I'm on holiday for a week so I can revise. I can't wait til it's all over :). How's engaged life treating you?

Ahahaaaaa, I do love the idea of your dad calling djtp a prick and his bottom lip wobbling as he's about to cry at the thought! Glad it's all going well, non-blurry rock pics anytime soon?
I have no idea of what that translates to, but thank you love x

Main Q: nothing, ever.

Alright stranger?

*Baron Samedi, "Whisper", Moore's safari jacket, the New Orleans funeral scene, the funky soundtrack (apart from McCartney's effort which I concede is his second best song after Helter Skelter), the 'gator farm, etc etc but mainly JANE SEYMOUR .

Alright Monteh?
Nice choice, I used that in my dissertation years ago so I could waffle about the hegemonic stereotypes that were overused in the time period to cause moral panics about black people!

All they were doing was cashing in on the Blaxploitation boom, surely?

(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 14:31, Reply)
Fo sho, but it was also handy for discussing racismlols
The music wasn't really good enough to be considered blaxploitation imho
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 14:35, Reply)
It was certainly ‘Blax-lite’ but the costumes are excellent
I have a collection of Blax soundtracks that you would love. Best and most obscure of all is that of ‘Black Shampoo’* – the film itself is rare enough, the soundtrack even more so before it was reissued. Best Blax film ever? Superfly, for the middle montage alone, not to mention Curtis Mayfield's score.

*or perhaps 'Shaft In Africa'

Alt Q, Film: Dawn of the Dead, remake - I just love everything about it.
Game - Resident Evil 2, scariest game of my teen years.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 14:29, Reply)
Resident Evil 2 wasn't that scary, there was a couple of jumpy bits though
The interview room bit was freaky.

Silent Hill was fucking scary though.

Silent Hill wasn't zombies.

(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 14:34, Reply)
it was a good film though

(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 14:35, Reply)
Meh
Aside from the skin being ripped off, and the policewoman being burned alive, I thought it was pretty tame.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 14:38, Reply)
Yeah but it was watchable. Infinitely more so than the resident evil cunt excuse for movies

(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 14:40, Reply)
I think the first one was superb
2 was wank, 3 was so piss poor it was entertaining.

if I have them the right way round

also Mila Jovovich. What's not to like?

Alt Q: I don't know many zombie things, but I did like Shaun of the Dead. Also the zombies on level three (or possibly mummies) of Thief (or thief 3) were pretty good

I'm nice to people, but aside from chucking someone a few quid when they're short, I don't tend to do much. Although, I did set up my mate with a girl I really liked, does that count?

Alt Q: Resident Evil 1-3 for Games, Resident Evil for film, and The Walking Dead looks pretty good (Only seen 2 episodes though, Norman Reedus FTW!)

I'm interested to see if my pup likes it, currently she hates rain but likes the river, she tip toes around when theres frost in the yard
hmmm...I suppose by cleaning and cooking and providing food for my roommate for the past year, she decided to be nice and watched my dog a few weeks ago so I could go to a game.

Alt: Shaun of the Dead for sure. But Zombieland is quite good too. Haven't watched any others I don't think...

Question which doesn't deserve it's own thread
If facebook suggests a friend "that you might know" but you don't actually know them and then you request that person to be your friend, but they point out that they have never met you and then don't accept the friend request (and breath)

Is it weird to keep sending messages saying that they ought to accept your facebook friend request?

I only ask because someone from /links is doing exactly this to me and frankly, it's becoming scary.
