I'm trying to work out if there's ever a situation where it would be a good thing for an architect to be able to say "I was published in the Sun" ;)
And no problem.

that when you tell somebody you are ignoring them, that doesn't really count as ignoring?

of ignoring someone is to at least tell them, and the bystanders that you are doing it?
* oh and don't abuse your powers and look who is ignoring who ;)

I have powers to do anything?
Besides, the whole point of being able to ignore people is so individuals can take away the posts that annoy them, rather than have all the trolls getting more replies than the non trolls.
Except it turns out people like being all superior and shouting at trolls more than they like having the annoying posts being hidden.

But the problem with the current system is that ignoring a user ignores all subsequent posts and nobody wants that. We would rather have a line that says "post/user ignored" than have whole portions of the board missing because we don't want to see the rants of dickheads. It then becomes more fun to say " I'm ignoring you, twat. I'm telling everyone too" ( i do tend to follow through with my ignores, I just don't tend to make them last more than a month because of the reasons stated above )
And it was me that said you had powers to do stuff, up there, see?

The replies are going to be nothing but people saying, "Cock off, n00b" or "La la la... I'm ignoring you".
Though admittedly, this is probably more coherent than the normal board chat.

It's just me being picky I suppose. Also my old board runs on eve ( old infopop ) enterprise software and I'm used to shit hot features. ( for 6 grand a month I should be )

I'd find it more annoying to see the replies, but not the original post. I'd be tempted to keep un-ignoring them to se what the replies are about.
Much better to just ignore anything to do with that person in my opinion.
