there was a time, a long time ago, when this was about the only image frowned upon on b3ta. not shure how it works now though, more of a linker than a boarder.

It's a shocking image but I really think it's shocking for the context of the image
rather than the nude child - when I did my GCSE in Photography I used this image along with several others to debate the Objectivity/Subjectivity of Photography - that the camera never lies.
I got an +A for that essay which I am proud of.

"maidenart.co.uk is being constructed" - do you have one of those "under construction" gifs on it, as seen back in the day? *checks site* - NO! good god, i is disappoint.

actually if you look at the recent work section the 3 placeholder images are Under Construction .png
it's under construction as I need to refresh my memory on how to code a php image gallery to work with css and for it to look better than some "cookbook" php image gallery. So waiting for inspiration and in the meantime reading some books and searching for good tutorials.

Lovely
I want to do some photography and do some HDR treatment to it - so how many bracketed exposures do you take, and what exposure gap? ie 1/3, 1/2, 2/3, 1 stop each?
(maidenis filmed before a live studio audience,
Sat 30 Apr 2011, 17:53,

thankayous :)
cool - in the urbex environment I always shoot 6 exposures = -3 to +2 with a 1-stop gap (because of the bright windows/dark corners kind of thing), but in many situations 3 is just diddly fine (-2/0/+2)
this one was 6 exp but 3 probably would have done as there aren't any particularly bright areas :)

Thank you
so the more extreme the exposure range the more shots you take with a smaller exposure gap but in general 3 shots 2 stops aparts?
(maidenis filmed before a live studio audience,

yea alot of the really good stuff people do is done with 3 exposures (if they're telling the truth)
I think camera quality plays a part in it but essentially the more extreme the difference in light, the lower down you'll need to go with the under-exposures to avoid blown-out highlights in windows etc.
the exposures do need to be equal distances apart or it spazzes out - ideally I would shoot -4/-2/-0/+2/+4 (and probably not use the +4) but my camera ain't all that :(

I have a Nikon D70, various lens ranging from a 105mm Macro
to various zooms I also have a nice 50mm Prime. It has a very good range of exposures and I normal use 200 ISO which for some reason is slowest ISO most Nikons will shoot (except the newer expensive ones) various filters including Neutral Density and Grads. It's only a 6 megapixel DSLR (defunct now in the Nikon range) but the quality is still far better than a compact can shoot.

yep, that should do the job
check out the auto-bracketing feature and see what it can do (Nikon have always been a bit better with this than Canon - I have a Canon 400D, it came with a free dinosaur)
(dutsOptimus whut?,

Yeah I can select anything from 1/3 of a stop upwards in 1/3 increments
and can auto bracket for up to 3 shots
