Amsterdam Bash

Come one and all to the smut capital of the world for b3ta based fun and frolics!
I believe most of us are coming across on Friday 21st and leaving Sunday 23rd, so it is in effect two bashes and then breakfast. Which is nice.
The best travel prices seem to be with Jet2...be sure to book early to get the best cheap flights.
I'm sure people will post places to stay in the thread below.

***Edit: We shall be meeting at Int Aepjen, close to Central Station (#25 on the map), on Saturday at...shall we call it 15:00 local time? Anyone who wants my mobile number need only e-mail.

I'm signing up

with my usual caveats about 'if I can get the time away from work'.

Should be ace :)

^This

But time away from work money

(, Tue 21 Feb 2006, 13:49, Reply)
^This very very hard

But I will definately try!

Tempting

Never been to the land of dykes and windmills before. Is there a campsite (of the tent pitching not mincing about type) near by, I prefer to camp.

(, Mon 20 Mar 2006, 11:01, Reply)
Not walking distance from the centre

Amsterdam's a big city. But there are campsites in nearby villages with a decent daytime public transport link. You may be fucked for getting home at night, though.

(, Wed 5 Apr 2006, 15:13, Reply)
If there are mice and windmills,

I'm in.

*checks annual leave*

(, Mon 20 Feb 2006, 23:11, Reply)
Since I'm half an hour away

it would be rude not to, assuming I'm in the country etc etc.

(, Tue 21 Feb 2006, 12:49, Reply)
I'm sorely tempted.

But scared about being the only girl.

*considers*

(, Tue 21 Feb 2006, 16:09, Reply)

Are bashes really that intimidating for a female?!

(, Tue 21 Feb 2006, 17:06, Reply)
Nope.

But they might be if I were the ONLY girlie!

(, Tue 21 Feb 2006, 17:33, Reply)
My G-Friend would be with me if we go

:o)

(, Thu 18 May 2006, 8:58, Reply)
I'm considering it with all my little pennies.

I could do that strikethrough myself you know.
(, Tue 21 Feb 2006, 20:51, Reply)
But you didn't

all n e
(, Fri 24 Feb 2006, 1:34, Reply)
if I can find a babysitter

and the money for travel/accommodation...

(, Tue 21 Feb 2006, 16:58, Reply)
As I suggested it, I suppose I ought to turn up. ;)

(Work/family permitting I shall attend.)

(, Tue 21 Feb 2006, 18:28, Reply)
You can...

get a flight to Amsterdam for 1p from Coventry, on the 20th July on thomsonfly.com

It saves about a tenner against the Jet2 one when you work out the tax and return. It works out at £50. Doncaster/Sheffield and Bournemouth also do this with Thomson.

(, Wed 22 Feb 2006, 5:09, Reply)
I'll be there

/on leave for most of July:)

(, Wed 22 Feb 2006, 5:20, Reply)
I

shall see if I can get the time off work for this and if I can then I shall make it over, only thing is as I cannot stomach flying I shall come over on the sea cat from Harwich.

(, Wed 22 Feb 2006, 5:42, Reply)
try to get from Harwich to Scheveningen

you can take a train to Amsterdam from there (about 45 minutes)

(, Sat 1 Apr 2006, 16:28, Reply)
I have the time off work.

So for just now I'm signed up as a maybe.

Edit: I'm definately coming folks, going to pop my bash cherry! Can't wait.

Edit Edit: Actually I'm not sure yet :s

(, Wed 22 Feb 2006, 23:44, Reply)
It seems you can fly to Amsterdam via Glasgow

Which is very useful for you, the airline is FlyGlobespan.com

(, Fri 24 Feb 2006, 2:17, Reply)
Oooh... that really is useful.

Thank you!

(, Sun 26 Feb 2006, 19:09, Reply)
You're goddamn right it is!

Kneel down and kiss my robes!

only kidding!

(, Sun 26 Feb 2006, 21:38, Reply)
The strikethrough's too obvious for that one! :p

(, Mon 27 Feb 2006, 10:59, Reply)
I might well

Turn up for this. Having never been there before in my life.

(, Thu 23 Feb 2006, 0:08, Reply)
It is lovely

You should go to Vondell Park and see the ducks

(, Fri 24 Feb 2006, 1:35, Reply)
I'm in. More than enough time for me to be ready for this bash.

Anyone willing to start suggesting hotels? It would be much more pleasant to be situated in or near the same hotel as other B3tans.

Edit - provisionally I'm looking to stay at Bellevue Hotel, it's quite expensive and is likely to be fully booked up by the time I have the money but it's centrally located and highly recommended.

(, Thu 23 Feb 2006, 0:49, Reply)
I've been trying to find

the hotel I stayed in last time I was in town, but it seems to have disappeared.

(, Thu 23 Feb 2006, 17:56, Reply)
You might be better in a hostel and it'd probably be cheaper.

But they are few and far between in the heart of the dam.

(, Fri 24 Feb 2006, 2:17, Reply)
I'll be going with a hotel

I'd be arriving Friday at the latest (may make a short holiday out of it) and leaving Sunday so I'd want somewhere comfortable and relatively safe to keep my belongings.
Before I went to Amsterdam I researched hostels but quite a few of the reviews put teh fear into me.

(, Fri 24 Feb 2006, 2:23, Reply)
^this (ish)

Hotel for me.

(, Fri 24 Feb 2006, 22:23, Reply)
I'm looking at the Tulip Inn.

It's 3 star, does a shuttle service to/from Schipol airport, & isn't far from the centre.
£94 for 2 nights in a double room.

Is anyone looking to share this sort of accommodation?

(, Fri 3 Mar 2006, 9:59, Reply)
Hmmm

There are certainly worse. I've decided not to set my heart on anything until the day I book it all.

I have however booked the time off work, the first step!

(, Mon 6 Mar 2006, 21:26, Reply)
My favourite city in the world

I don't wanna miss this one, noooo!

EDIT: Couldn't afford my passport in time, and definitely can't afford flights and cost of copious amounts of weed.. cockbadgers. NEXT TIME DAMNIT

(, Sun 26 Feb 2006, 18:56, Reply)
i believe i may have agreed to this

in huddersfield.

staying in hostel dorm stylee would be good. that way we won't all get lost/seperated whilst inebriated. well thats the plan...

EDIT: oh noes. i start a new job on the 3rd july and have to move down to essex with it. will not be able to attend due to moving. sorryo.

(, Mon 27 Feb 2006, 19:45, Reply)
Yep ya did

and talked me into it too :p

(, Sun 21 May 2006, 12:42, Reply)
Well, I've booked to stay

here... very basic, but right on the Damtrak and cheap enough.
(, Fri 3 Mar 2006, 14:11, Reply)
Good job you'll most likely be wasted

As I don't imagine you would normally get much sleep being above Damrak.

Excellent location for getting about though.

(, Fri 3 Mar 2006, 15:24, Reply)
Prezactly.

I'm a fairly heavy sleeper anyway; I've fallen asleep in INCREDIBLY LOUD nightclubs before now.

(, Fri 3 Mar 2006, 17:44, Reply)
bugger

my passport has run out but i may be able to get another in time, i hope (goddam postal service)

(, Wed 22 Mar 2006, 21:22, Reply)
Oh jesus christ!

Mine is about to run out too! Thank you for reminding me!

(, Thu 23 Mar 2006, 7:01, Reply)
I was thinking about going with one of the Flying Pig hostels

Looks pretty good to me... I just need to save up enough cash for it!

(, Mon 27 Mar 2006, 1:01, Reply)
bastards!

I'd love to go, but I get back from dubai that very day :( Damn you!!! :P

(, Tue 28 Mar 2006, 2:13, Reply)
I might find my way around to

Amsterdam that day.

(, Sat 1 Apr 2006, 10:43, Reply)
I might attend a day (or two)

if I'm in the country by then

/lives 30 minutes from Amsterdam

(, Sat 1 Apr 2006, 16:32, Reply)
Can anyone recommend budget flights from somewhere dawn sarf?

The closest airport to me that does such things is Southampton, and though I've flown on flybe from there for ridiculously cheap in the past the cheapest flight for Amsterdam on those days is over £200, which is entirely impossible for my pockets.
London airports might be OK if the flight is cheap enough. Really cheap. Any recommendations?

(, Sat 1 Apr 2006, 23:24, Reply)
Bmibaby do some alright deals if you book soon from London

(, Sun 2 Apr 2006, 1:22, Reply)
I just booked my flight with EasyJet.

Leaving Friday 21st at 06:10 and coming back Monday 24th at 09:00. Cheapest selection of flights coming in at £41.98, around £60 cheaper than bmibaby. But I will be staying a night longer than I planned for, but I don't mind.

I'd recommend looking at easyjet and bmibaby and comparing prices.

(, Mon 10 Apr 2006, 13:58, Reply)

Good thing

I don't have a woman to worry about.

(, Mon 15 May 2006, 23:07, Reply)
Pencil me in for this

Chances are I'll still be living in inland Yorkshire, so I may just brave the ferry from Hull.
Edit: bollocks! Guess I'll have to find cheap flights from a nearby airport....
Edit edit: found one, Doncaster Sheffield. I may be asking for lifts from car-possessing people living nearby.

no, don't - I'm not going!

time

I'm game, but i think 15.00 is a little early (well by local costums anyway) to go pubbing....especially with weather like this.
Will there still be b3tans around in the evening?
