Holly and Phillip stunned as guest tells all on Prince Andrew Newsnight scoop

( , Sun 21 May 2023, 0:41, Reply)

I don't buy it, though. It reeks of latent homophobia, further bolstered by the revelations about his brother's noncery.
The whole Phil/Holly situation is utterly bizarre. I've always found the pair of them to be reasonably pleasant - if somewhat bland - daytime television hosts. Then 'queuegate' happened, and the entire population of the UK seemed to simultaneously turn on them. It seems that since that point, there's been nothing but a campaign of character assassination directed at the pair of them. Fucking odd.

Well there were all the allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a 15 year old showrunner. He did a Kevin Spacey and came out, except unlike Spacey he actually got away with it.
( , Sun 21 May 2023, 10:30, Reply)

But weren't the rumours of grooming just unsubstantiated gossip?
My understanding was that the showrunner had been mentored by Phil after starting work with ITV and that it hadn't become a sexual relationship until some time after (prompting Phil's rather abrupt, public coming out).
I'd certainly agree that getting into a relationship with somebody you had previously mentored is massively inappropriate/unprofessional, but again, I suspect that the rumours that anything sexual was taking place when the showrunner was underage, or that Philip was deliberately grooming this individual are nonsense fuelled by homophobia, his nonce brother and fucking 'queuegate'. I think comparing him to Spacey is maybe a little unfair

You could say that he did a runner.
He also failed to report his brother to the rozzers when he knew he was diddling a young boy. All in all he isn't someone I would call of good character.

It's just more than a little nauseating that he is being held up as "brave" for publicly humiliating his family. No-one seems to give a monkeys about them, including him. If he wasn't gay and had just left them for a young girl would anyone be quite so forgiving? Or if he had been seeing the girl when she was a teenager? It's the double standards that is hard to take.
As for Gordon the Gopher, what secrets does he know?

as a british australian dual citizen, the Stop the Boats campaign sunak has latched upon is a wierd deja vu for those familiar with australian politics of 20 years ago
It was pretty effective for the conservatives in australia, stoking and with the tampa affair, fabricating fears to get them across the line in two elections.
Im not sure the dog whistling will be quite as effective for sunak. different country, different circumstances. but if you've got fuck all else, it's probably worth a try. Maybe Stamer will go for Britain isn't working

This batch of tories are all about performative cruelty (I guess it's their version of what they falsely identify as 'virtue signalling') and they are already making Nazi apologist noises as well. They've banned free protest. They want to ban industrial action. They want to withdraw from our international commitments to human rights. They want to criminalise asylum seeking. They want you to hate judges, lawyers, doctors, nurses, teachers, trade unions, foreigners, the 48%, etc., etc., etc.
tl;dr: The tories are proto-fascist scum.

as some tips, mixing tracking with fixed position shots is jarring. You could start with the panning shot, and then make the rest tracking, It's a common form: establish the scene and then start moving through it.
though I think the one where you come out of the cave would be a great opener and you could cut the panning shot all together. Editing is mostly about what you leave out

I appreciate the input! I'm still learning so I'm grateful for the advice.
in my defence I didn't have much footage to play with, as I had my daughter there with me so didn't get as much as I'd have liked. I actually had this video half done for months and pretty much gave up on it (Hence it being winter in the video). but though fuck it, might as well try get a short video out of it.
I'll try to take on board your suggestions for my next video!
EDIT: Can I get your thoughts on the colouring? It was such a dull fucking day I really struggled to get any colour other than gray, and as i'd been staring at the video so long i can't actually tell if i managed to make it work or not.

for my work I have a few presets that I spent a lot of time googling at the time but have mostly forgotten what I did. In general, small tweaks are fine to get a bit more warmth, but if you want to make a shitty day look like a sunny one you're going to get a noticeably artificial look to it. this can be fine, plenty of music and surf videos crank it up to alice in wonderland trippiness. But it's a choice, and to me showing the beach on a windswept choppy day has a stark beauty to it, and not exactly out of the ordinary for wales. embrace the natural palette of colours
Another suggestion is the striptease. Don't open your coat and show them everything straight away. You could start with a tracking shot pointing straight down showing nothing but moving sand, or the waterline. Pique their interest. "What am I looking at? Where am I?" and then gradually build to the majestic wide shots, the final reveal and climax. It all learning, and thinking about the edit will inform the next time you film, what shots you go for

Where's that?
I was at poppet sands the other day, and flew it all the way out to a small fishing boat. Was extremely impressed at the range it got when unobstructed. Unfortunately then thick fog just rolled in.

If you were at the one near Pembroke it would be impossible to.miss. I just checked the map and saw there's at least two of em.
I recommend going down there. It's about 300m off the beach and quiet photogenic.

I can't see any other ones?
But looking around on Google maps I've just seen quite a few cool little islands that I'd love to attempt a drone flight to.

Hypothetically if you clicked on a link in Twitter or wherever to a GBeebies video on YouTube (or something the algorithm considers similar) then it will register that as you showing interest in that. You're not signed in and aren't curating what it shows you with their "Not Interested" or "Don't Recommend This Channel" functions, so all it has to go on are the visits to the video. It doesn't know why you've watched it either, so watching it to see what that braindead cunt said this time counts just the same as watching it because you believe in it.
It may not even be that you watch that sort of video, but based on the sort of video you do watch they can build up a profile and take a guess about what they think is likely to interest you based on what other people who watch those things also watch.

you'd think that me ignoring everything it shoves in my direction might encourage it to try shoving something a bit different.
