I'm back in the country. Detachment was a lot more fun than I expected. It's just unfortunate that beer is astronomically expensive in Switzerland. And generally not very good. But fortunately I was able to make it to the Great British Beer Festival so all is well. And we may have occasionally snuck across the French border to buy affordably-priced alcohol to smuggle back to the hotel.
I also bought a plastic crow while I was out there. Also managed to get my hands on Emily Loizeau's new album (Pays Sauvage) and it's bloody fantastic.
How are the rest of you? Despite occasional access to b3ta whilst out there, I've missed most of what's been going on.
For those who would like a less positive and/or more technical vibe to this thread: why is my computer struggling? Is it really asking too much to run Winamp and Firefox simultaneously? Admittedly said computer is a bit old (~6 years) but has either Winamp or Firefox really become that bloated? Is there a good alternative music player out there which won't gobble up all my memory?

I finally plucked up the courage last night to ask the girl I've
Knowing what she's like I was torn between saying "do you want to go for a drink" and "do you want to go out on the piss". Sadly, I chose option C)
"Do you want to meet up tomorrow night, go for a piss somewhere?"
Oh dear. Anyone here humiliated themselves in fine style lately?
She thought it was hilarious and said yes, BTW, so I added that maybe we could have a shit if all went well...

Well I'm back at work and have noticed my bank have charged me £294 in "bank charges" for going into an overdraft I don't have because my financial situation isn't good enough for an overdraft but can obviously hold up to stupid charges. They have already charged me £190 last month. Stop eating my money you fucking clunge monkeys.
I'm massively pissed off which sucks after the awesome weekend.
I may have to kill my housemate and sell his organs. Talk about whatever you want I'm tired and angry and sulking today and can't be bothered thinking up amusing questions for you lot

The pics from last night's bash are now in the Flickr b3ta bashes pool.
ancrenne was given a little pony to decorate, and I made at least 3 different pants-related contributions to the evening.
Oh, and excellent choice of venue. It was nice to be able to all sit together and not be drowned out by background noise.

At five this morning and I was bongoed. I woke up at seven this morning in a panic as I was late for work.
Only after I'd had a shower and put on a suit did I realise it was Sunday and I didn't have work.
Has this ever happened to you?
Alternatively, what is the best ever Stone Roses song?

in its Friend's suggestions. Amongst them, 4 women I contacted via a dating site some long time ago. I never gave FB my address book details, and none of the women are in there anyway.
It's both freaky and slightly wrong. I've Googled about this and there doesn't seem to be a consensus on why this is happening. I imagine it's by these women using the "import my e-mail addresses" feature, not friending me at the time, but FB storing the addresses and deciding for whatever reason at this point in time to suggest them as friends.
Whatever, it's freaky and wrong. Check out (if you use FB) their complete friend's suggestions for you now...be interested if this is happening to everyone

Did you miss me or even notice I was gone?
I've been down to the West Country to see my folks.
We then went on to Cardiff to visit a friend who as just moved there.
He lives really close to Cardiff Bay. I was impressed to see a shrine to Ianto at the door to Torchwood.
What Sci-Fi related shrines have you seen?

Things I've found out this week:
Come On Eileen is not a good song to have in the background while getting down to some sexitiem. I found the 'too ra, too ra ay' bit dictated my rhythm and I found myself singing along.
Mistaspakkaman wears white briefs.
I would rather have remained ignorant of the second fact.
What have you discovered this week?

My contract with my broadband supplier is up in a few months and I think I'd like to change suppliers. I get a free router with my current one, but I have a netgear one in a cupboard that I'd rather use when I switch. My questions is, how easy is it to set up without a disc as I've moved several times since I got the netgear and have no idea on where the disc is.

Had a cracking weekend. Played a good gig on Friday night, followed by a great laugh with my mates. Had a good surf yesterday, followed by getting royally bladdered at a campsite, a good surf today and am going to get a chinese tonight.
Then pass out from exhaustion and too much sun.
Hope your weekends have been as good as mine!

Noting the prettiness of a brassiere in a high street store today, I moved in for closer inspection. Dear god they actually have my size, at a reasonable price, no padding (a bonus when you don't need to enhance your goodies) and decent support from the underwiring. Queued for 20 minutes or so to get into the changing sweatshop area, tried it on and found the flaw...elasticated shoulder straps. WHY IN THE BUGGERING FUCK would you make the straps elasticated, thus rendering it unwearable for any occasion other than for the 30 seconds before sexytiem when your chosen partner will admire it?
What other entertaining design flaws have you noticed recently?

My lad came in earlier with a DVD he'd borowed off his mate. I looked at the case, "Watchmen". I rolled my eyes. Yet another superhero movie. So he put it on and I had planned to go do something else instead. But in my procrastinating style, I couldn't be arsed to get up and watched the first 5 mins.
2.5 hrs later, I still hadn't moved. It was a fabulous film and worlds apart from what I was expecting.

is ace. Got utterly trashed on Bourbon Street last night - our hotel is a 2 minute walk. Ate a poboy sandwich. Now on a river cruise on the Mississippi and stuffed full of jambalaya and fried chicken. More beer!

every cunting time I order food from Tesco, they drive past the window five times before ringing me up bleating that they can't find my flat? With satnav?

Council madness, Maddie and free buttons to boot. How risible can this paper get? We should have a sweepstake. I reckon tomorrow will be a combination of Maddie, immigrants and free CD.

I have been mucking around with Spotify and have found a load of bands I forgot I loved... like THE CARS!! Ahhhh The Cars!
Soooo yes... have you found anything recently which you forgot you liked, or have you been listening to any exciting music today?
