Need some advice (God help me)
It is to do with the female of the species. Broke up with the wife a while ago, and have been dating a young lady of which I know. Much teasing, all that sort of thing, the usual, but no actual physical contact until the other night. Things got a bit hot & heavy, SHE stripped off, and had my jeans & boxers round my ankles, and I turned her down, as it didn't feel right. And I just wanted to be a bit respectful.
Now she's saying I'm an inconsiderant shit, and it was there on a plate, why didn't I take it, etc etc.
So- if a man acted like that towards you, lady people, what is the reaction? Bearing in mind I wouldn't sulk and throw a hissy fit if she said no....

So walking home just now
a group of teenage kids threw a McDonalds milkshake over a wall and it hit me.

When they came round the corner and saw me. I said something like 'well done you idiots'. They walked off laughing.

I went batshit. I went after them shouted that I wasn't going to let a group of little idiots like them get away with it and demanded an apology. Which I got.

Did I do the right thing?
I feel bad about it now, they couldn't have known that I was on the other side of the wall.

Who is going to be......
....the first celeb / famous person to snuff it in the New Year?
bit morbid but my dad just asked having been reading the Blackpool Football Club Supporters Forum - thought it would be a great one for here.

Please can it be Anthea Turner. Please.

If Not Ms Turner please make it that pair of loathsome bitches, Trinnie and Susannah.

Oh - Happy New Year everyone xx

Guests
I like having them, and I enjoy being one. However, there are rules, limitations and so on that must be adhered to, well, as far as I am concerned there are.

2 days, aka 48 hours is about as much as I can stand, whether I am the guest or the host. Even then there has to be extenuating circumstances. Usually when I have folk over to stay it is because we are partying for one reason or another and usually end up mashed. Waking up the next day/afternoon and having to entertain them all over again, but this time with an angle grinder against my head is none too enjoyable and frankly gets on my tit end.

The best guests are the ones who are up and away even before I get up, the noise of the front door closing envelopes me like teh sound of pound coins being discharged from a fruit machine. They don't need to have tidied up or made their bed or anything, just be away to do whatever it is they are doing. Failing that, a cup of tea and some brekkie, then get on their way. By that time my hospitality hasn't worn out as such, it's just that I can't be fucked anymore and want to veg out and stoat about the place not having to worry about about anything or anyone.

I realise this makes me sound like a joyless nugget, but we all have our preferences and we prefer if people silently obey them, dont we?

Best of 2009
Come on then, what were the best records, books and films of 2009?

I've not been impressed by any new music or films at all. Revelation by CJ Sansom was my favourite book - it's been a while since an author has consistently written stuff that kept me up reading til stupid o'clock in the morning because I simply couldn't stop, but this fellow is a superb storyteller.

I've just recieved
the loveliest card from Tourettes and DG.

This has put me in a very fluffeh mood. I'd like to publicly thank all of the following:

Tourettes and DG: two of the nicest people I've met in my lifetime. I really can't say enough good things about them.

BGB- though times have been trying, she will always hold a very special and deep place in my heart.

Enzyme, Prof. Kenn Martin, Jessie, Pooflake, Cap'n Placid, Rakky, Herr Docktor Leminge, djtrialprice, Empress Bob, Boss Keloid, porkylips, althegoeordie, clendrix, DIT, ancrenne, mistaspakkaman, PJM, chickenlady, bill, The Stig, grandmasterfluffles, Kristine (and anyone else I may have missed, forgive me for I've been drinking), I'd like to thank you all for being so kind to me. You're all wonderful people, and I can't say enough nice things about the lot of you. All of you have been very kind to a middle aged septic who's been going through the shit.

Ah, and a special congrats to Porkylips- very glad your son has benefited from the blacksmithing books, and I hope he will prosper by them. And a great thanks for the Shakespeare- I will indeed treasure it!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again- b3ta is inhabited by some of the nicest people I've known, and I'm honored to be part of the ranks.

Happy new year to you all.

Avatar 3D
I'll keep this brief.

Visually stunning. the graphics are considerably better than anything I've seen before.

3D stuff: pretty cool. particularly floating motes of ash and stuff like that. Not a lot of stuff coming out at you. I would happily watch films without it for the rest of my days.

Story: almost nauseating in its "developed world raping the developing of its resources with no care for life, culture or history of those who live there"

Worth a watch though, if only for the spectacle, as others have said before.

bbc2 animated series
Anyone remember a dark, twisted animated series that appeared on bbc2 a good 10 years ago about a guy who IIRC was a single father dentist?

GAAHHH!
As I'm still an unemployed wanker, I'm applying to graduate school in hopes that I can change career paths. This has involved getting letters of recommendation from various people, getting transcripts from my previous schools and taking the GRE exam. And now I need to write a self statement about what I can bring to the field I'm trying to get a degree in, as well as fill out about fifty pages of information which can all easily be found on my CV.

I've also been applying hither and yonder for any and all vaguely engineering-related jobs that I might qualify for, with no success to date. Then this morning I check the website of my last employer, only to find that my account has been temporarily locked- and everyone's gone until Jan. 4.

I'm ready to bite chunks out of granite.

Tell me something to cheer me, b3ta.

Silly Ma'
Got showered and dressed, went out shopping, made some soup, dinner and desert for about 10 guests. All ready for New Years Eve. She put out all the crisps on the table, put out some nice candles, got herself ready, put on some make up, put on a nice dress.

Basicly, Spent the day running around like a blue arsed fly, getting everything ready.

She's now sitting down, bored, waiting for her guests to arrive, when she calls her best mate and says
"Come over early, we'll crack open the wine",
"I can't I've got people over tonight?",
"What do you mean? You're coming over tonight ! I've put everything out I'm all ready !",
"[mum's name], It's new years eve I'm coming 'round"
"yeah', tonight."
"That's tomorow"
".......ooooooh".
