Before Xmas we've got Hallowe'en to get out of the way
My wife views trick or treating as glorified begging. Have you ever done it and are you now faced with carting your little darlings around the neighbourhood to stock up on haribo?
Also, what's the best costume you've ever put together?
Alt: What's the laziest piece of writing/book you've ever read. I've just finished the latest 'Alex Cross' book and it's a strong contender.

I went to one as a spider which was basically sticking newspaper into two pairs of black tights stiffened with coathangers
Sewing pingpong ball to a hat and string to make the arms move with mine.
It went down well but it kept knocking shit over.

I devoured the first 10 or 12 when as they came out. Up to about The Hogfather, i think. That wasn't very good.
Then I read a couple more and thought they were basically all the same and didn't read one from the first vampire one (Carpe Diem?) until I picked up Going Postal a couple of years ago. Now I quite like them again. Although the recent football one wasn't very good.

I used to love trick or treating
but then I lived on a very very tiny estate, everyone knew each other and which houses not to bother knocking. As I was the oldest kid several of the parents used to give me a few quid, I'd put together costumes for their kids and then take about 7 or 8 of them out all at once to give their parents some peace and quiet.
I was a zombie cheerleader last year, Poison Ivy the year before that... I wanted to go as Mystique this year but I'm really not thin enough to do a catsuit justice.

'Trick or treat' is American. I have never done it.
An ex of mine answered the door to some local yout'man dem in balaclavas with toy guns 'trick or treating'. I had to pretend that I didn't find it funny because she was in tears for about an hour. Good old Hackney kids.
Apart from a Sunday school play when I was about five I can honestly say I've never worn a 'costume' in my life. Unless you count the stupid clothes I have worn over the years.

Could have been.
I don't think it was the first one I just remember giving up when I got to the line ""blah di blah di something or other" said harry and Ron" Up until then I'd been trying to do the voices for the different characters, but the idea of 2 characters speaking a full sentence in perfect unison was too much for me. Reading something aloud is a god way to tell if it's well written.
