Not sorry to threadstomp.
I'm babysitting instead of doing Ebay shit tonight. I get my daughter to myself (albeit at her house), a baked potato and some beef stew. These are GOOD THINGS. But it means I now cannot go and see my GF afterwards. This is a BAD THING.

Is your evening going to be full of GOOD THINGS or BAD THINGS?
(, Wed 1 Dec 2010, 16:38, 131 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
Good thing I had an e-mail saying 'wanna go to the pub?'
Bad thing I had a second e-mail a few hours later saying 'subject to me getting enough work done'
(, Wed 1 Dec 2010, 16:41, Reply)
supposed to be going to the gym
for the 8th day in a row, get me. but now my demon colleague is suggesting taking me to "fire and stone" and if you've never been there..... well, their international pizza menu is ridiculously fit. so i am weighing 2 hours of pain against options like these examples:

Cairo: Mozzarella, tomato sauce, roasted red & yellow
peppers, courgettes, aubergines, balsamic roasted
red onions, crumbled goat’s cheese and pine nuts

New York: Mozzarella, tomato sauce, crispy smoked bacon,
garlic & rosemary roast potatoes, caramelized onion
jam, topped with sour cream and smoked paprika

Jakarta: Satay sauce, mozzarella, satay chicken, spinach,
aubergine and red chilli, topped with slow roasted
tomato chutney, roasted peanuts and coriander

and the pasta/salads are just as good. well, almost. insofar as a salad can compete with a pizza.

Surely if you're babysitting then you're supposed to secretly invite your GF over to the house and make sure she's out of sight before Mum gets home?
As for me, well, BAD THINGS as I'll be in the office until quite late.

Good - I have a new place to move into
Bad - I have no way of getting things from my parents to my new place, as everyone is either busy, or scared of a little snow.
(, Wed 1 Dec 2010, 16:44, Reply)
My day has been full of GOOD THINGS.
I went walking, took lots of photos, only fell over once, and played in the snow.
So far, the only BAD THING that has happened is my host's train has been delayed, and he's supposed to be taking me up the road later. But I'm sure it will all work out and be a GOOD THING.
(, Wed 1 Dec 2010, 16:45, Reply)
'Taking me up the road'
is the most thinly disguised euphemism ever.
(, Wed 1 Dec 2010, 16:46, Reply)
wasn't being euphemistic at all, he's literally driving me to my next host family because they're half an hour away and the buses are cancelled.

Glad you are enjoying our weather though.
(, Wed 1 Dec 2010, 16:48, Reply)

Like Norway or Canada. They know thay are going to have snow and prepare for it.

The once every two months club night, Hard to Love, is on tonight. It's the best thing in Newcastle by a mile. My dearest mother has transferred money to my mate to give to me so I can 'buy food' (spend it on booze and horse tranquillizer this evening), I met Sportscow this afternoon who is a fine upstanding gentleman and because today is the first time I've had a few beers for about two months, I'm currently rather merry.
I am very much looking forward to the rest of the day and night.

York.
Great for shopping, bad for living.
(, Wed 1 Dec 2010, 17:08, Reply)
I love York
Best place in the country for pubs bar none. On the flip side it's absolutely terrible for clubs.
(, Wed 1 Dec 2010, 17:15, Reply)
well, I'm going with the old woman and her bezzie
so there won't be much pubbing and very little clubbing.

But they do know how to shop, so a good time should be had by all.

Assuming they can make it - they both have to get to Edinburgh to catch the train first, and I think Scotland is up to its collective tits in snow at the moment. We have literally none, and I feel very left out.

I want snow, dammit!
(, Wed 1 Dec 2010, 17:18, Reply)
The Edinburgh train to Kings X (that stops at Newcastle then York) is currently delayed by 300 minutes according to my mate who as we speak is coming from York to Newcastle.

As a non doctor I can give you the reason.
In the cold, your body gets rid of fluid, as it only has to keep it warm if it keeps it on board. You de-hydrate, similar to getting drunk, and this is a common reason for headaches.
