Hi,
I've just seen some of your stuff on B3ta and thought you might be interested in entering a viral competition.
We at Bore Me (one of the world's largest viral web sites) have teamed up with Channel 4 to create the UK's first viral competition.
It's really easy to enter - just create a viral, or send in an existing one you've made this year to www.channel4.com/germ. Your hard work could be rewarded with an NEC Flat Screen, a Palm T650 or a Sony Ericsson K608i and be exposed to the world.
Remember, this is with Channel 4 so please, no defamatory, indecent or illegal stuff - we may laugh but it'll go no further. Lawyers love virals too but also have families to feed.
Find out more at www.channel4.com/germ
Closing date is Monday 5th December.

P.S. The competition is called Germ.

The defamatory and indecent are both endearing qualities in virals. Damn the PC-brigade!

Which is why they are spamming every email address they can find in b3ta profiles (including mine which is obfuscated like a bastard).

you can find their ISP and lodge a complaint with them
then report them to the likes of spamhaus and spamcop - they`ll blacklist them and any ISPs who use their block lists will block their future e-mails

They're are specifically asking B3tans who have put email addresses in their profiles if they'd like to enter a competition that may very well appeal to them.
It might be a copy/pasted email, but it's not really spam.

I don't think it's spam really. My email address isn't in my profile so they must have got it from my site.

I wrote some stuff for them and they put it in the Germ website - and they show a couple of my pics.
As I said to them, the copyright thing would be the greatest problem for me what with using a lot of news pix for my shopping.

they emailed me too - "i've been looking at your site and thought you might be interested in an image competition"
BUT, my site is alnost entirely text. the exceptions are:
a background image [not made by me],
a logo-thingo [not drawn by me]
and a photo [of me, but not taken by me]
so they obviously didn't look at it very hard, did they?
how very odd...
