The difference between funk and of what you speak can quite clearly be defined
by listening to The Meters 'Africa' and Red Hot Chilli Peppers 'Hollywood (Africa').
One has funk, has groove and has soul, the other is totally lacking - yet it's the same song.
The diference can also be summed up by looking at someone like Chad Smith and comparing his lifeless, hard hitting drumming with that of someone with geniune funk such as Jabo Sparks or Zigaboo Modeliste.
