No, but I had a friend who worked at the Atari company.
Things were actually made in the country of origin back then. His dad was one of the first silicon boule engineers. Not very exciting times.

I was being somewhat facetious.
During the home computer boom of the early '80s, there were many manufacturers in both the UK (e.g. Sinclair, Acorn, Dragon, Oric, Amstrad) and the US (e.g. Apple, Commodore, Atari, Radio Shack, TI), but not many of the ones made over here were popular or even released over there, although most from there were available here.

Like tv shows. Fucking usa. I'm just grateful some station ran The Young Ones.
I still can't believe I was right in the middle of all of that stuff. I even know someone who had 10% of Apple, but whose attorney ran off with the money. Nerd history.

I miss my speccy with built in tape-deck. The top of the play button snapped and fell out so I had to jab a compass into the gap of the tape-deck and use it to twist the play button. Ahhhh those were tup days.

Bloody luxury. In my day we were using the sellotape to hold the 32k RAM pack to the back of the ZX81.
In a shoebox in the middle of the motorway.

The nurses used to keep one of these in the fridge for the stroppy patients who for some reason would decide to get their vaginal discharge checked out whilst drunk on a Saturday night. Trufax.

That's what the B3ta jingle's for. If we would only sing it together he might hear it from beneath his rock in the depths of the Lonely Forest on the other side of Mordor.
