Now: The Walking Dead (even though it was a bit of a let down)
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 15:27, Reply)
I thought the Walking Dead was class
Finished too early though.

EDIT:
Are the Wire and Lost that good? I've not seen either
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 15:27, Reply)
The first episode was great
and then they started talking about feelings and stuff. Just shoot something!
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 15:29, Reply)
Yeah
It was still very watchable and the effects were excellent. The zombie with no legs in the first episode in the park was terrifying!
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 15:30, Reply)
I think they spent a lot of their budget for the effects in episode 1.
As for "The Wire" and "Lost", yes, I think they are excellent. A bit daunting for a newbie as there are so many episodes.
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 15:35, Reply)
I'm hoping they turn up on Sky Atlantic or something
Am watching the Sopranos from the start on there at the moment.
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 15:37, Reply)
you can't debate that, everyone has their own personal tastes of what they like or don't like
it'll be an argument but everyone will be right, because it's what they like that matters

but, I'm just going to go ahead and say Jersey Shore here

TV Series of all time - Fawlty Towers, Firefly, Blackadder, Buffy The Vampire Slayer & Angel
TV Series of now - Chuck, Castle, How I Met Your Mother, Bones.
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 15:29, Reply)
I couldn't be arsed with Buffy and Angel
It all was a bit shit for me. Mrs Cow's daughter used to watch them constantly, along with Charmed (which has 3 good reasons to watch)
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 15:36, Reply)
Buffy had Alyson Hannigan, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Eliza Dushku, etc
Angel had the same, plus Charisma Carpenter, Amy Acker, Alexa Davalos, etc.

I watch Glee because I'm a fucking idiot
and a sucker for poorly-produced song & dance numbers. And the abuse that comes with watching it.
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 15:53, Reply)
And you review it on Facebook because...

Exactly

(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 16:04, Reply)
Bizarrely, a number of my friends have told me they enjoy my reviews significantly more than the show itself
Which I appreciate is not saying much. I review it on Facebook because that's what an FB status update is for; to self-indulgently alert people to what you're doing and assume they care.
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 16:06, Reply)
Yes, well
you're not telling them what you're doing. Then, you'd say: "Watching another crap chapter of Glee". You're reviewing the show. And you do it talking to them, as if they could listen to you.
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 16:14, Reply)
Well, they can
In the respect that they can read it, and reply, via the comments. I'm not sure what the problem with this is
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 16:18, Reply)
She was Rose McGowan.
Alyssa Milano was freezing cold for every single episode of Charmed, it was great.

I'll give you Glee
I'm easily entertained
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 16:08, Reply)

Amusingly,
Ms Foxtrot engaged me in a discussion about what qualities a Jedi should possess and whether I felt I pursued the appropriate lifestyle to qualify. She made a very valid point about Jedis using the Force to control their emotions. I did not care.

They are also celibate (according to Quai Gon Jin & Tonic)
but I just meant that you used "Darth" in your username
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 16:04, Reply)
Believe it or not
I put Jedi because I thought putting "Sith Lord" was TOO geeky. Yeah, you read that right. I use Darth in my user name because Obi Wan Foxtrot makes me sound like I've got a Ewan McGregor fetish
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 16:09, Reply)
All those dicks that put Jedi down add to the overall % of people that can be counted as "religeous"
giving pompous wankers like the Arch Bishop of Cunterbury the opportunity to talk about how X% of britain is religous, cis bollocks.

Also many people associate themselves with a religous group, ie I'm catholic, as that's how they were raised, they neither still believe nor are active so should answer none for all of our sakes.

I am gobsmacked.
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 15:46, Reply)
Oh come on.
It's rubbish and has been since the fucking 60s or whenever it started. It's like a bad American soap opera but in space - there's always some 'hidden' 'thought-provoking' message that's about as subtle as being walloped in the face by a brieze block and about as enjoyable.

It. Is. Shit.
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 15:49, Reply)
Why don't they shoot shit up more, because they are intergalactic benders, that's why
going where no man had been before was into an alien rectum
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 15:50, Reply)
This might amaze you
but a TV programme doesn't have to be subtle, thought-provoking, loaded with symbolism and real-world parallels or even especially well-acted to be ENTERTAINING. For some of us simple folk, the prospect of enjoying an hour of TV rather than sneering at its poor production values and listening to Electric Landlady for the thousandth time is quite endearing
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 16:01, Reply)
All time: Monkey! , Shogun, The World at War,

Actually, what am I saying? Match of the Day. Easy.

Alt: I genuinely have no idea. I assume he's just massively lonely and craves attention, or maybe has dyssemia or something.

I would agree to some extent
Firefly was never actually that good
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 16:07, Reply)
Yes it was
It was awesome
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 16:11, Reply)
It really wasn't
if it hadn't been cancelled, just left to limp out it's second season no-one would remember it.

Don't get me wrong, it was mildly enjoyable. But it wasn't groundbreaking, most of the characters were cliche stereotypes. I liked Simon and River, but most of the others just needed a kick up the arse.

It wasn't meant to be groundbreaking
The "sci-fi western" template was established by a little film called Star Wars and the Mal Reynolds/Han Solo comparisons are easy to see. What it did have was excellent dialogue, (mostly) great acting and a very intriguing setup. It was effortlessly entertaining from beginning to end.
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 16:21, Reply)
The acting was mediocre
precisely because of the stereotypes. The dialogue was clever in some bits, but certainly not all the time. It wasn't futuristic enough either. Fair enough it didn't have to be groundbreaking and awesome, but it could've been a bit more original than it was.

shows that aren't sci fi that have been cancelled and I like:

BSG is fucking awesome, by refusing to watch it you're missing out on one of the greatest shows ever made
purely because your attitude to the genre it's in. Which is beyond stupid.
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 15:54, Reply)
Plus it's excellent to watch while stoned.

(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 15:57, Reply)
why, I never...
it's fucking shit
maybe I'm just not into shows where people are lost, which seems to be a reoccurring theme in everyones choice of television on here

I'm not really watching telly at the moment, as in, shows other than cooking and hollyoaks.
I keep on meaning to watch quite a few though, Fringe, the latest two seasons of House, 24, Lost, no ordanry family, prison break.

Secret Diary of a Call Girl is probably my all time favorite series
I bought the first season on sale from a movie store that was shutting down and I've probably watched it 5 times this year.
Also, True Blood is pretty awesome and The L Word.
Along with Nurse Jackie, Weeds, and United States of Tara.
Boardwalk Empire and The Sopranos. The Tudors.
(, Wed 30 Mar 2011, 16:09, Reply)
