Not sure if this has been covered, but some of you who are on my Facebook list will have seen that I eat a lot and mostly crap.
I have a secret as how to I'm keeping trim - it's high metabolism and stress.. Mostly stress - not the most ideal way to do it, but it works..
(Admittedly I'm a heart attack candidate which isn't right clever...)
So how do you do it - if you do? Or tell me your eating habits...

but remain a size 10 simply through the filthy art of poledancing! I took up a pole dancing exercise class and it's got my weight down to a nice 8 and a half stone and removed all traces of muffin toppery, w00t! Plus it's really fun to do so you don't feel like you're exercising.
However, it does lead to the belief that when drunk you'll be able to spin like a professional round lamp posts, which results in bruising of bottoms and egos.

My advice is do it before you hit 40 because it's a fucking nightmare to shift it afterwards.
I eat well but heathily and go to the gym about 3 or 4 times a week.

Not for me to be honest, but I can relate to the drunken pole thing - Not that I would admit to having danced around a pole in a club in Aberdeen.
Whoops...
:)
Edit - 40? I've got another 8 years to go then....

I do about 35 mins of cardio vascular, 35 mins free wheights and 15 minutes core maybe 2 or 3 times a week, and have gone from a quite pudgy 12 1/2 stone down to a very slight stomach podge and much leaner top half of body 11 3/4 in about 6 months, haven't changed diet hugely but cut out the kebabs, eat more pasta, try and eat small and often (that is fucking difficult) go wholemeal instead of white, add some colour fruits to diet (kiwis, plums, berries plus nuts for energy)

I had a McDonalds breakfast yesterday and I used to exercise a lot, but I got old and demotivated.
Fatness is sure to come...

Is much easier than I expected.
Stop snacking.
Eat a good breakfast, a decent lunch (finish it with something like a yoghurt for extra weight loss) then eat a good tea.
Just don't eat anything in between, I stopped snacking for a month, and lost a stone.
However, that just shows I snack too much!

You are younger than me so no excuse!
I used to stay thin from stress and nicotine, now its gym and nicotine!
( , Tue 18 Nov 2008, 14:43, Reply)

Not sure how exactly. Maybe the fat can't stand being in a miserable body and it all poos out.
( , Tue 18 Nov 2008, 14:44, Reply)

climbing twice or three times a week and by climbing I mean indoor rock climbing - going up and down an indoor wall around 20m high or so.
I was also adding in a bit of cycling (both on and off road) and the occasional bit of swimming too.
Then I fell off my bike in Scotland back in June.
I had niggling pains in my hip but put it down to the weather, age, too much exercise, not enough exercise, etc. etc.
I've climbed maybe three times in the last MONTH!
*cries*
I went swimming on Sunday for the first time in ages and I've paid for it with pain over the last day or so, but still not as much pain as when I climb.
I'm on the doctor's list to see the physio.
Have I phoned to nag them?
I, like so many of you, am a procrastinator.
I'll do it tomorrow.
The fat is increasing.
( , Tue 18 Nov 2008, 14:45, Reply)

whatever the hell you want, and as little exercise as you like. I've got a ridiculously fast metabolism, so I can't put any weight on.
*smugs*
( , Tue 18 Nov 2008, 14:49, Reply)

Chronic depression is how I got fat in the first place.
It sure liked clinging to my miserable body.
( , Tue 18 Nov 2008, 14:49, Reply)

They won't stick around. I'm not entirely sure what happy fats are, or whatexactly we're talking about, or whether I'm even awake as I type this, but I am definitely, definitely right.

Now there's an idea...
I'm 32 so taking up smoking now would be ridiculous, but for some reason tempting....
( , Tue 18 Nov 2008, 14:55, Reply)

So my metabolism is ridiculously fast. Even though I do almost no exercise at all I have to eat a steady 5-6000 calories a day to maintain a weight of around 10 stone, and I'm 6'1".
Bet you all hate me now.
( , Tue 18 Nov 2008, 14:57, Reply)

You'd probably hate me a bit less if I told you how much it costs to feed me...
I'm back living with my parents at the moment and they're constantly bitching about it, even though I do pay board!

which allows me to not gain weight. I stopped growing at 14 and still wear the same size clothes. Eating a balanced diet helps - I find a pie & chips in each hand is balanced enough!
No seriously, I have kids, so I have to make the effort to eat a proper healthy diet. I also don't ever sit still - even at work I fidget constantly. Not having a car helps - in winter I only walk as far as the bus stop, but at least it's walking!
My colleague has just achieved her target weight after three years and losing more than I actually weigh. She swears by drinking a half pint of water before eating so you feel full sooner. The bonus of this is you get more exercise running back and forward to the toilet!
( , Tue 18 Nov 2008, 15:11, Reply)

You have diabetes which isn't a nice thing to have.
I now hate the Weewitch : )
( , Tue 18 Nov 2008, 15:15, Reply)

if it's any comfort, I'm not that bright and not that pretty. Just thin.
( , Tue 18 Nov 2008, 15:18, Reply)

I don't eat very much at all during the week, maybe a couple of toasted muffins for lunch and a pint of milk in the evenings, but I make up for it at the weekends.
I am a steady 85 kilos.
13.4 stone.
( , Tue 18 Nov 2008, 15:20, Reply)

We are however, very funny and that is better than nothing : )
Edit - Himjim, Kilos? what's that in real money?
( , Tue 18 Nov 2008, 15:22, Reply)

I used to be thin as a rake, but after breaking my leg and being in a cast for 15 weeks, I put a fair bit of weight on (parents taking care of me :p).
As a result, my metabolism plummeted, and it took a long time to even build the muscle in my leg back. I try to eat healthy at times, and maintained a steady diet and exercise regime for 6 months, but saw absolutely no change.
Which depressed me, and I turned to pizza :p

18 months ago, I weighed about 17 and a half stone (245 pounds). I now weigh 16st.
I've not done anything to lose weight. I'm no more active than I was, my diet hasn't changed either. I saw the doctor and I don't have anything wrong with me that I didn't have before.
I've been 16st now for maybe 4 months. I have a half-decent exercise bike I should go on, but I can't be arsed. (This should be on the QOTW)
( , Tue 18 Nov 2008, 15:49, Reply)

I was an absolute rake. 28" waist, no body fat whatsoever, fairly fit due to a lot of walking - probably 2 - 3 miles a day.
Then I hit 25 and the weight just sort of flubbed onto me, probably due to several years in a job that involved me sitting on my arse all day and not taking a lot of exercise. I now fluctuate between a 34 - 36" waist. I did start to go to the gym 3 times a week once I hit 30, for a good 2 - 3 years, but then a combination of fucking my achilles tendon and my dissertation conspired against me and I haven't been back.
Agree that stress is a good way to lose weight, as I lost about a stone when I split with the ex wife - the appetite suppressing qualities of Prozac helped on that scoire though. It soon piled on again when my social life life coincided with takeaway pizza.
However, I don't like to think that I'm grossly overweight or anything - I prefer the term 'relaxed'.

to about 14st and satisfactorily muscly (albeit retaining a bit of a stomach) by first following the "smoke yourself thin" diet, then by taking up surfing and becoming hooked.
I eat well, but healthily, and have cut down the drinking somewhat.
Mrs V on the other hand joined weightwatchers, and has lost almost two and a half stone in 6 months mainly by cutting out snacking and drinking bugger all booze.
We still eat basically the same meals as we did before, just slightly less.
I recommend eating a lot of vegetable soup to aid slimming too.

Eating Less by Gillian Riley.
If you know you overeat and are somewhat compulsive about it, this book will make a lot of sense to you.
Edit: reading through the replies... exercise is all well and good, and I recommend it for general wellbeing, but if you eat a lot of rubbish and too much fat/carbs, then exercise to lose weight, you're putting a more stress on your body than you need.
Controlled eating and light exercise will see you through.

I might have guessed. I deliberately put that line in just for you.
I eat healthily most of the time. But eating healthily, and eating late at night aren't necessarily a good combination...
