POLITICAL REFUGE
This is the thread for discussions of anything but politics.

I don't know why they stopped selling Lucky Charms in England, they were my favourite breakfast cereal of all time. I know they sell them in Selfridges now, but they're well expensive!

What do you miss from times of yore?

Yore mum.

(, Thu 6 May 2010, 9:10, Reply)
Pan Yan pickle
I miss it with all my heart.
(, Thu 6 May 2010, 9:11, Reply)
What is that?

(, Thu 6 May 2010, 9:27, Reply)
It was a small brand of pickle, far superior to that overly-vinegary Branston muck
I miss that too. It was seriously good stuff.
(, Thu 6 May 2010, 10:04, Reply)
I'm upset that I've never experienced an alternative to Branston pickle
I did branch out the other day and buy Sainsbury's own mayonnaise and it's fucking gorgeous.
(, Thu 6 May 2010, 10:55, Reply)
There are efforts being undertaken to re-create PAN YAN.
They have found old jars and are trying to analyse the contents. The original recipe has been found too, or something.

They're major sad-face groups.
(, Thu 6 May 2010, 10:40, Reply)
I do hate them so
I investigated one when they first appeared and it wouldn't let me off the webpage it took me to, so I had to close down Firefox, but it being Firefox it remembered the pages and opened them all up again next time so I had the same problem again.

not always true
incest is illegal and that wouldn't be fun, my sister's horrible.
(, Thu 6 May 2010, 9:31, Reply)
No they aren't.
When they were legal you could get a huge variety of mushrooms: Thai, Australian, Mexican etc with ease. Since the law changed you can only get the UK native Liberty Caps. And they really are completely different from the foreign ones - for one thing they're about ten times smaller and the effect entirely different.

He very loudly shouted at the one with the hat "Oi, you with the stupid hat, would you and your mates mind moving out of the way so the rest of us can get a drink" Mr Stupid Hat guy and his minders moved out of the way. When I was at uni
my friend in the states sent me a package with 6 boxes of lucky charms in. I was over the moon, she sent them by surface mail so they took three months to get to me. I ate Lucky Charms every day until one day they were gone. I have not had any in ten years. I'm a sad panda.
(, Thu 6 May 2010, 9:24, Reply)
Get your arse down to Selfridges
They're about £6 a box, but it's nice to treat yourself every so often. I went to Florida when I was a teenager and binged on them all week and then brought as many boxes back as I could fit in the suitcase.

Is it instead possible to transmit cereal via underground tunnels?
(, Thu 6 May 2010, 10:00, Reply)
Surface mail is simply the alternative to air mail.
What that has to do with tunnels I don't know. The Ocean has a surface.
(, Thu 6 May 2010, 10:04, Reply)
I'd just never heard regular mail described as such
And wondered if there was scope for a sort of sub-surface mail, involving tunnels which transmit cereal. Or other stuff, depending on your needs.
(, Thu 6 May 2010, 10:06, Reply)
Surface mail is for Non urgent international mail
and its too big/expensive for air mail you send it surface mail, see. cereal tunnels direct to my home would be awesome, maybe a cereal tap next to my water taps.
