Similar, yes
But not the same. Robots are real (or at least a lot of them are), sci-fi isn't. You can shop Darth Vader in this challenge, you couldn't in the other.

I think the fine line between the original robot challenge and this one
is something only sci-fi/robot geeks will understand.
So that's 99½% of B3tards satisfied ;)

I suppose,
but through geeky pedantry, were Daleks robots or simply vessels/vehicles?
And was Darth Vader a cyborg, I mean all his limbs and as far as I know respiratory system were robotic, so surely he was more fitting to the compo then Daleks?
Same with AT-AT's they're vehicles, not robots.
I'm not trying to discredit your post/this compo, just saying the compos are pretty much open to interpretation anyway and so this one is very similar - but I shall welcome it as we couldn't have Carrie Fisher in a metal bikini in the last compo.

It's a slightly different excuse to pearoast slightly different pictures you did months ago and are hoping will be funnier this time round.

Eh, you're confusing me. I was asking why it DIDN'T get fp'ed.
Am I being stupid today? Just ignore me if I am.

that was placing robots in history.
this, as the spiel suggest, involves tarting up elements of sci-fi to make them more 'retro', hence steampunbking star wars, etc.
The idea behind it was to do something with the characters, ships themselves etc etc, and not just plonk robots in the past

Which is near enough
