no blackbirds? Crows? Thrushes? Sparrows? shame that...
Kinda lucky here... Just across the road are huge grounds and woods for a private school, so i get to see some interesting wildlife.
Had a Pheasant in the gargen (only once, and it was a bit of a shock), woodpeckers, jays... Even witnesed a Sparrowhawk strike a collared dove (Also seen a Sparrowhawk mobbed by crows)
And the there is the heron that keeps fucking about with the frogs in my pond...

In my mind I fondly imagine that the Heron you mention
Keeps knocking on the frogs door and running away, and doing things like unscrewing the tops of their salt shakers, and swapping the hot and cold tops on the taps...

fucking about?
they might be trying to create some sort of Frogron mecha-hybrid with a big hoppy beak
problem, it's not nice to find a half dead frog that has no chance of surviving so you are forced to put it out of its misery....

wait till you get two of the right halves and stitch em together

the starnge thing is, I've ot jurassic park on right now......

We've just moved a couple of weeks ago
and birds have only really just started to find the feeders I have put up. There's a gang of about 8 great tits that are the most frequent visitors. Other than that so far it's been the magpies and one sighting of a nuthatch on me nuts.
We also have a big wood just about 50 yards away so I'm hopeful more will find us soon. There is a local sparrowhawk family, and a hobby too (which I had to look up).
I dug a pond the first weekend we were there. The garden is already full of frogs and toads, so I reckon the pond will be well used in the spring.

here in Lincolnshire a couple of weeks back the local crows
from the rookery across the were kicking off big time. I went out to have a look and they where mobbing seven shades of poo out of a poor Buzzard that flew too close.

Last year in the highlands
I saw two buzzards attempting to mob a golden eagle. That was fucking ace.
