i remember going on a school trip to twycross and when we walked into the inside enclosures of monkeys, the first thing we saw was a ginger monkey wanking furiously... honest to god... I didn't even know they could do that at the time. hahaha

An article about "listening dogs", who are helping children to read aloud as "... part of a scheme that originated in the US". You don't say.
"It helps with their self-esteem in reading out loud because he is non-judgmental". Well of course he is; he's a dog.
I'll admit, the last paragraph made me awwwwww.
It's an odd story this, not sure how I feel about it.

i hate cyclists... but would only ever passively aggresively swear at them quietly in my car.
( , Tue 1 Mar 2011, 10:06, Reply)

And I was a little bit worried that exactly the same thing was going to happen!
I'm all for raising awareness of and asserting cyclists' right to be on the road, but I really wasn't comfortable with the degree of deliberate obstruction and inconvenience to other road users, especially given that it takes place every month. The most cringeworthy part was making pedestrians wait for us all to pass as we rode through pedestrian crossings with the (traffic, not pedestrian) lights on red. I never went back.

Just came across this and think it deserves a post. This intro sequence is impressive by todays standard. But to think it was made in 1937 is just wow!! Comments on the youtube page kind of explain how they managed to do this. Even with all the modern technology 74 years later I dont thik I could make anything like this!
( , Mon 28 Feb 2011, 22:53, Reply)

You are looking at an actual scale work of art, built by Alexander Golitzen. If you look closely, the globe has two sections, the plexiglass constructed upper text half spins, the lower half is a reflection of plexiglass stars twirling. The entire logo shoot was done by John P. Fulton, ASC's special photographic department.
BTW I have no idea if that's true or not, I just copied and pasted from one of the comments. But it sounds convincing!

Hello you. This is my 3rd free EP of the year with 4 tracks taken from my second album. It's indie rock.
Here's a live version on the first song.

and give it a plunk at work tomorrow, ta!
Edit: also, have you thought about using BandCamp? They don't suck for hosting, will sell your tracks if you wish, and I believe they don't take a commission. Hard to argue against....
( , Mon 28 Feb 2011, 20:41, Reply)

I use reverbnation. They also don't charge commission on sales, only a one-off hosting fee then send it to tons of major music download sites.
( , Mon 28 Feb 2011, 20:52, Reply)

then bandcamp is a bit nice than divshare (? if that was where you hosted the EP).
Cheers for the tunes, hope that I am not sounding too ungrateful!
( , Mon 28 Feb 2011, 21:00, Reply)

I just use divshare for my free stuff. I know it doesn't always work but over the years it has been alright for me.

Modern take n a motown track, had a bit of grit and humour to it. But now I am fucking sick of it, and all the twazzies with loud copies of it playing it on the underground, singing it on the street and beating me over the skull with a rolled up copy of it.
( , Mon 28 Feb 2011, 19:56, Reply)

I mean it's a great song and everything (& nicely sung above BTW) but it's like cake, a nice treat now and then but if you have it all the bloody time you're throwing up all over the place
( , Mon 28 Feb 2011, 20:19, Reply)

i don't watch tv or listen to the radio much at all so i've only heard the tune maybe 4 or 5 times. so i really enjoyed this version.
