They're very much like scruffy pigs to look at, and they've got big, knobbly warts and lumps all over their long, hairy faces. They are very, very ugly indeed.

He has inherited Chet Atkins crown as the world's best player in this style. He does sometimes descend into MOR hell, but when it's just him and a guitar it's very, very good.

I lived up near Postgates place in Blean about 20 years ago when he had a prop sale. I have an original clanger and two of the Nagoya's church mice.
Sad times.

They've been in the Beany Canterbury museum for about 6 years now. You can pop in and see them yourself. I paid a ridiculously low couple of hundred quid for them in about 1996 (I think.. Might have been 97)
( , Mon 2 Jul 2018, 13:18, Reply)

I met Oliver Postgate once and shook his hand. I saw tiny clanger's 'voice' and the actual bagpuss used in the show.
He talked exactly the same in real life as he did on the show. He had the sort of voice you would want to narrate your own death with the words "And then they went to sleep"
( , Sun 1 Jul 2018, 16:46, Reply)

I liked the story that all the Clanger whistling was actually scripted dialogue, and in one episode where a door sticks, Major Clanger is actually shouting "Sod it, the bloody things stuck again!"
When they released the speaking Clanger dolls a few years ago, the manufacturers asked Postgate what audio he wanted to put on the voice box. Guess what millions of childrens toys are whistling when you squeeze them...
( , Mon 2 Jul 2018, 23:17, Reply)

Wow, amazing.
Was that when you were a kid, or...? How did it come about?
What was "tiny clanger's voice" - a little sliding whistle of some kind?
Definitely a mesmerising and soothing voice.

( , Sat 30 Jun 2018, 9:46, Reply)

seems to be a massive disconnect between the backing track and the vocal as the main issue with this track. you could probably make something work quite well by being more creative with the sample eg. chopping and editing the backing creating new riffs with it as a sound source because the aesthetic itself isn't bad at all. I understand you're not planning to re-work this. just my pointless critique.
