BEARS
Last paragraph: it is possible to hybridise grizzly and polar bears to make some sort of über-bear.

Which animals would you hybridise? I'm tempted to try and hybridise carrion crows with ostriches to create a race* of enormous novelty crows.

*Possibly an army

Cross your fingers for me folks

I've got an interview on Wednesday. Same place but different department, more pay and, crucially - I'd finally move up a 'band' to management level, after a decade at 'senior NCO' grade.

I tried my suit on this week for the first time since...well, probably since my uncle's funeral in 2005 and, surprise surprise, it's a little bit tight around the middle. I may have to purchase a pair of those special magic-pull-you-in-pants tomorrow (or borrow Mrs G's).

Anyway, France vs Wales should be good tonight.

Geeky help please. First time asking.
My sister needs a new powerpack for her monitor but has been quoted £30. I figure I can get it cheaper on the tinternet but need to make sure I get the right thing.

12 volt
4/5 amp
+ to tip
2.1mm dc jack (I can only find 2.5mm)

Anyone able to linky to correct item to purchase please?

Edit - Having looked again I think the price she's been quoted seems reasonable. If anyone knows of cheaper than please let me know.

Fanks!

Motivate me.

Morning all!
I'm in a very good mood this morning, for several reasons.
1. It's payday
2. I've got a night out tonight with several mates
3. I'm only working 2 days next week
4. The police called me last night, told me that the Scrote who stole off me has finally been taken into custody and charged. He's been given his court date, so things are finally happening! I'll be getting money back soon, and he's likely to be fined a rather large amount of money.
5. Liverpool won last night.

How about you lot, what's making you cheerful today?

EDIT: Whoops, sorry. Started making this thread a while back, didn't realise someone had posted since. Actually, it looks a rather boring thread, so I'll leave this here.

I woke from a nightmare
so here I am, until I can get back to sleep.

I don't know why, but somehow seeing celebrities with cats makes me have a somewhat higher opinion of them than I previously held. No matter how much of a twat I think they are, they can't be a complete waste of skin if they have a cat.

Well, except for Regis Philbin.

This is a thread purely for
telling Lab that he is GOING DOWN IN THE STOBART GAME. I am unbeatable and will remain so.

You can tell me what games you are unbeatable in but I probably won't care

I'm pleased about the new QOTW
only because I get to use one of my favourite (true) phrases.

It's ever so cold out and I'm ever so tired.
Can I come in please and put my feet up in front of the fire and maybe if it's not to much trouble have a bite to eat and a blanket? I promise not to be any trouble.

Just had my annual appraisal
I used the word "cuntbeak" and the phrase "disconnected nouveau riche smugfuck" in it.

It went rather well!

You lot had appraisals yet?

I went to see Mastodon last night
they were astoundingly good, I am amazed that a group of people can not only be technically that good at playing, but actually know over an hours worth of very complex progressive metal off by heart.

My car has also been returned to it's usual state of noisiness by the nice garage round the corner, the new hard drive for my laptop arrived and was installed without any problems and I've managed to get adobe acrobat working properly on my desktop again.

So all in all, things are going pretty well for me at the moment, and I don't want to tempt fate, but last week I wasn't very happy at all as lots of things had the potential to go very wrong.

Why are you feeling generally pretty good about life?

no depressing shit about being an alcoholic or anything please, it's your own fault if you can't stop drinking, don't try and make it my problem.

As an extension of BGB's thread,
I'm listening to my new CDs today, and I keep hearing some lyrics that made me think of a number of you lot.

"I am the stranger staring
At you and what you're wearing.
May I undress you with my eyes?"

What lyrics remind you of B3tans?
(, Thu 25 Feb 2010, 12:32, 72 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
Hey kids! it's rhyme time. Make a rhyme about a B3tan.
I'll start.

There was a young scouse girl called Roota
Who liked to chat away on her puter
She'd mention her nan
Of which she was a big fan
And her work at the deli which did suit her.

Sorry but couldn't find anything rude to rhyme with Roota.

Morning all
I'm in quite a lot of pain today, had to walk to work. It's about 2 1/2 miles, mostly uphill, and my foot is still sore. It's now even better because it's got a huge motherfucking blister on it, which also hurts like hell. Also, due to walking funny, my knee and hip are both sore. Basically, I'm a bit of a twat.

Ah well, payday tomorrow!

Come on /OT, tell me what's bad and what's good in your life at the moment?
(, Thu 25 Feb 2010, 9:36, 90 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
Oooooooooohhhhh, boy. Oh boy oh boy oh boy.
I'm eating a Maltesers Bunny at the moment and it's awesome, like Galaxy chocolate with a malteser center.

They're AWESOME, seriously, awesome.

Tomorrow should be an interesting day.
I am being interviewed by the local newspaper for an article on the transition from illegal alien to legal alien and the difference in attitude towards me (white & English) as opposed to those illegals of the Hispanic population.

So it should be interesting to see the comments that are made in the online edition.

So, what you lot up to tomorrow (by that, I mean Thursday).

Not trying to push down BGB's thread but I have a technical query
I finally have a phone that works online, but I've found it to be terribly slow. I remember I downloaded another browser to my last phone but I can't remember what it was now. Can anyone help please?

Listened to Bigelf on youtube.
Enjoyable, but the kind of stuff I was listening to twenty years ago.

What else has made you feel old recently.

MORE GEEKERY ! _and_ delivery* news.
I bought a "copposite av cable" for my iPhone. In my bedroom, I have a telly, but I couldn't watch anything like Freeview on there, because of the shit reception.

Now, I can stream movies from my Laptop, watch iPlayer, 4od (via YouTube), Movies I've actually downloaded to my iphone, music and radio.... all through the TV !... Plus it charges at the same time.

I no longer have to take my laptop to bed with me to do the same job, which I'm trying my best not to do any more as I get distracted and find it hard to get back to sleep. The cable was a lot cheaper than getting any other kind of Media Streamer thing, and a lot more conveniant, as I can put it in my bag when I go somewhere, like my mums, and want to watch something on the big telly there that I've downloaded.

Plus I finally bit the bullet and got Windows 7, as my version runs out in a few days.

OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY ! GEEK WIN !

* What was wrong with the last thread? Nothing, I just missed it and wanted ATTENCHUN !

BFF
Can I get a list of these BFF pairs please, I missed that meeting and want to know if there's anybody good still left? I'm also being nosy.

Or if you're outside of all this cliquey crap, who wants to go see Hot Chip with me on Saturday in That London?

My friend Beth Delbridge is missing :(
Beth has been missing since around 6.30am on Monday. She was in her British racing green Volkswagen Golf (Registration N678 HCV) and is believed to be missing in the Helston/Falmouth area - although she could be elsewhere in the country by now. I know its a lot to ask but can you just keep an eye out and if you see a British racing green Golf check the number or maybe stick up a poster or two for me? www.coolstf.com/beth/Beth1wthfixPDF.pdf
