Who was the first b3tan you ever met?
I met spikeypickle after finding out we lived within about a mile of each other. I'd class him as one of my best mates now, I see him as much as possible, although that usually just leads to us getting extremely drunk, and talking shit.

Alt Q: Any b3tans you want to meet? I'm hoping to meet Rswipe & Monty at the London bash, but I'd also like to meet Roota, Darth, DiT and Kitty.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 16:43, 174 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
I first met Himjim, TGB and Rubberduck
At the first Leamington b3ta bash. It's been downhill ever since.

Alt: Hmm, I think Roota's at the top of my list. Or Madame Marlboro, in a hotel room and no-one else. And Rachelswipe too! I'm certain I owe her a drink and some HuGz.

I met you in a pub in Camden
You weren't that scary.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:01, Reply)
I met that Monty fellow a couple of months ago.
I've still not got over it.

God he's a right cunt.

(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 16:52, Reply)
You are right, he couldn't find a decent pub in Brixton.

(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 16:55, Reply)
Blame my brother.
He was the one who managed to find a pub that shut at 7:30pm. What a fucking cock.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 16:56, Reply)
I would, but he's not a B3tan.
Still, fair do's, its not every night you meet a pimp infatuated with Foghorn Leghorn.

It was a London bash, there was Funtastic Pony Magic (I think), someone called Tipasoi (I think) and Golden Fanjita. There were others, but I just can't remember them any more.

Did you get home OK on Saturday?
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:01, Reply)
I did
I don't know why I left early. It may have been because I drunk a lot and didn't want to appear too much of a tit.

It didn't work.

(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:06, Reply)

(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 16:58, Reply)
Landed in Oxford about an hour ago, wandering into town to meet Amberl for noodles in a bit.
Been to a 6,000 year old stone circle today, and a Roman villa, and a gorgeous valley near Stroud. It's been a good day.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:00, Reply)
Oh, which stone circle?
Didn't realise there was one close-ish by.

Ta! Near Chipping Norton I see, that's nor far away at all
I'll see about driving over there in the summer.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:06, Reply)
Hmm, it's 16 miles away from my house
That's nicely doable on bike, I'll cycle instead.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:12, Reply)
It's a good spot, take lunch with you to kill half an hour or so.

(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:14, Reply)
I'll need that half hour to get my breath back ;)
Looks to be entirely one road from Stratford to Long Compton, so an easy trip, so long as there are no mountains en route.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:15, Reply)
WARNING: FUCKING HILLY

(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:22, Reply)
Hmm, I know the route to Shipston's fairly flat
I should be averaging 20mph until that part at least, so I can take my time with the hills when I get close to the stones.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:25, Reply)
I think you're a mental.
don't get me wrong, you're ace, but you're a mental as well.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:28, Reply)
Haha, cheers!
If I keep the cycling up by the summer I'll be much fitter and trimmer, so that'll help. Did you enjoy the stones? 6,000 year-old stone circles kinda blow the mind a bit!
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:29, Reply)
If you want a fairly flat but interesting cycle ride
I'm planning to do this when the weather gets better, also probably taking in this as well.

Disasterprone
By virtue of the highly unlikely coincidence of the only other Forest fan in OT also living in Norwich. We had a drink a couple of months back and I must say he's an absolutely crackin' chap who it is my pleasure to call a friend. And not just because he can vouch for the existence of my girlfriend.

Alt Q - plenty. Notably Berk, Bobby, Amberl, Bella, Kitty, Vipros, Labs, Noel, BGB, Aber, RSwipe, Crowsephine, Poppet and your good self. And other people I'm sure I've forgotten. Suggestions welcome.

Haha, nice recovery.
Are you coming to the London bash in July, then?
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:00, Reply)
Is that the one that's the first weekend in July?
If so, no. You'll never guess why. Clue: same reason I can't come to Amberl's February bash.

Not dancing - visiting Ms Foxtrot's sister in Bristol. Although I was asked to dance at the Pink Jukebox that weekend. Try to guess what that is
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:11, Reply)
Poor effort
I must admit, 'dancing at the Pink Jukebox' sounds suspiciously similar to 'playing the pink oboe'.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:16, Reply)
It's an all-male Ballroom competition
The only defence I have is that I was asked to lead
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:19, Reply)
That really isn't a defence at all
giving but not receiving, so to speak.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:22, Reply)
The one thing that annoys me about the gay stereotypes surrounding Ballroom Dancing
Is the suggestion that there's nothing masculine about it. The Ballroom discipline involves dignity, grace, power, elegance and being pressed up against a beautiful woman (unless you're Natalie Lowe's partner) throughout. It's not even slightly gay, leading is absolutely masculine. Although I will concede that this is less the case when you replace that beautiful woman with a bumder.

LATIN Ballroom is gay as tits, however.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:27, Reply)
it's the gay outfits and the fake tan that does it chief

(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:56, Reply)
That's Latin, genius
Not that I've ever indulged in either. To dance Ballroom you should look like you're on your way to a costume ball at the Ritz, dressed as Gene Kelly's more sophisticated (and much younger) brother
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 18:00, Reply)
So, gay then.

I would imagine it would be something along the lines of:
"Welcome to this little corner of the internet you overtly heterosexual man with a superb taste in hobbies"
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:21, Reply)
It was actually
"You are punching well above your weight with your missus". Factually accurate, but the subsequent "Ugly cunt" meme got old really quickly.

I think you're a lovely bloke now though.

Not counting people I knew in real life before they joined b3ta:
Monty. Having been invited to a curry house in Whitechapel out of the blue, I turned up at Tayyab's not really knowing who or what to look for in this densely crowded restaurant. Then, amidst the crowd, I saw a chap with long hair and a Hawkwind T-shirt and realised that must be the bloke I was looking for.

Alt Q: I can think of several I don't want to meet...

Can we list the b3tans we wish we'd never met?
First b3tan was Himjim, followed by lab and rubberduck a couple weeks later, then I went to Manchester and met loads of people including Fetid Mimsy who still has my favourite b3ta username

No b3tans yet
As I have an uncanny knack for being at the opposite end of the country when someone hosts a bash. I do know one lurker, but I knew him for years before I found b3ta, so he doesn't count. Should be meeting a few this year though. I'm going to capn' Hood-Butter's birthday thing and I'm hoping to get to London for the July bash too.

Captain Hood-Butter
is responsible for the most pathetic post I have ever seen on B3ta, and his missus looks like a rough old prossie.

The most pathetic post on B3ta?
That's quite a claim. Got a link?

Yes, it was basically
'you lot on QOTW make loads of stuff up - but I don't have to.

Here's why:

1. I'm in a Pink Flyd tribute band and we have a piss-small shitty festival every year in our inbred backwater
2. I'm really fit and healthy and good at swimming
3. I have loads of sex with a REALLY HOT CHICK WHO USED TO BE A MODEL - pics of whom seemed to confirm that she used to be a model train. Who drank turps.
4. I work in the music industry (one of the shittest industries in the land, well done)
5. I think there may have been SUPER SPECIAL CARS involved
6. Loads of other shit.

So feel free to milk it for all it's worth.

I've not been to Forest since the Amici wine-bar incident.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:44, Reply)
Yeah that was scary
My sister lived about 5 minutes away from the bar in question at the time.

I actually reckon a draw is on the cards, we always get complacent after a big win. Frankly after doing the double over the sheepshaggers the rest of this season is massively irrelevant.

I'd be happy with a point.
I can't see it myself though. City have got huge injury problems, and Maynard is still a long way off being fit.

I can say with some confidence that you won't win
Our unbeaten home record has got into the players' heads now so that even if they haven't turned up for the first 70 minutes they'll spark up as soon as they realise the record is in danger. Obviously that doesn't mean we'll see our way to putting any past you

fuck off I'm an Arsenal fan
I only support Rovers due to the family connection (my grandad was club Doctor and on the board for a while)

well it was a toss up between you and Darth and that just eludes to nastiness!
Had my first day proper teaching today. I loved it!
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:38, Reply)
yay! You are now doomed for life
how old are the kids you're teaching?
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:39, Reply)
I have year 1 for the next 6 weeks. They are brilliant and our topic is dinosaurs
so it's ideal really.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:41, Reply)
ah, so you have to wipe noses
and play with crayons.

To be fair, that's pretty much the same as 6th form.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:45, Reply)
I reckon Bob is the Ralph Wiggum of the teaching community.

(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:46, Reply)
I made plasticine dinosaurs today and taught a 6 year old to powerslide his scooter.

I played with a lamb's heart and pretended it
was the still beating heart of a student who handed work in late. Then ran down the corridor with it to scare the textiles teacher.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:52, Reply)
Ha that is brilliant. We put a load of disected frogs in a girls bag plus a lambs kidney I think.
This was when I was in secondary school but still funny.

Oh, those elusive allusions.

I simultaneously met Kaol, Clendrix, Spakka and Ancrenne
that was excellent.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:51, Reply)
I simultaneously met your mums vagina, anus and mouth
that was excellent.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 17:57, Reply)
also, strangely similar to my experience

That's what your mum said

Technically it was Legless.
Although I knew nothing of b3ta at the time. Even more technically, it was the missus. Bash wise, it was either James Tiger Woods or B3tamax.

There are still quite a few I'd like to meet.

I'm going to meet Roota.
She doesn't know it yet but I have an idea where she live. *grins*

I'm impressed that Bob has heard of Panorama.

MC Quirkafleeg, Kamikaze Stoat, jim_bob (long before he became a regular) and some other lad whose name escapes me, in Sheffield back in January 2006.

apart from djtp
who I met when I was six. I remember him being a noisy, squirmy, screaming baby.

The only other b3tan I've met is Roota. She came to my wedding and was lovely. She wasn't even put off by my drunken family.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 19:34, Reply)
The drunken family aren't getting an invite to mine
Our drunken family that is.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 19:50, Reply)
I'll come and pretend to be your nan if you like.

(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 19:51, Reply)
Oi! ^^^^
First b3tan was Resident Loon as he was the first person I met at my first bash. First person I had a proper conversation with was ancrenne. She's awesome and should be round more often.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 19:42, Reply)
She's busy being superwoman.

(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 19:45, Reply)
Is she still wearing her pants over her trousers?
It's advertising I suppose.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 19:47, Reply)
What trousers?
She just wears pants.

I think ancrenne is the first one I met too.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 19:50, Reply)
Giggity :D

(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 19:50, Reply)
this thread makes me vomit
There are ten AT MOST b3tans I would happily see of my own free will any time any where. The rest of you can all fuck off (obviously you're in the 10 blousie)
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 19:55, Reply)
Haha!
I know hon!
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 19:57, Reply)
Am I in as well?

(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 20:13, Reply)
I hope I'm one
Otherwise you're sleeping in the fucking shed.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 20:49, Reply)
You were the first one I met at a bash

(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 19:54, Reply)
Was I?
Was that the bash that Aber came too?
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 19:56, Reply)
Yep!

(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 20:17, Reply)
It was Pooflake!
I didn't know he was a B3tan, we were both into guitars and it wasn't until we'd both been on B3ta for a while that we realised we liked each other's posts (insert gay joke here).
There's loads more I'd like to meet - if I can get work to be less cuntish I might even make it to a bash this year. Unfortunately I'd probably have to bring Pooflake too *sads*.
(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 20:48, Reply)
Blousie's house bash!

(, Mon 24 Jan 2011, 20:49, Reply)
That may well be a possibility
However, I'm waiting for a date for surgery* and the recovery time is between 4 & 6 weeks during which time I'll not be allowed to drive.

* 4 or 5 level posterior cervical foraminotomy - there's a great youtube video of one that I REEEEEAAAALLLLY wish I hadn't watched

Just realised I've posted this in an inappropriate place - fuck it, I'm drunk
