It could get really tacky really fast. I think the idea below about opening up the raccoon icon for all icon owners, and renaming it Jessie would be a more fitting tribute.

Unless the donation mechanism can be subverted for a whip-round for some flowers to the funeral, and a charitable donation on Jessie's behalf, rewarding with the Racoon.

a whip round and something from b3ta as a whole.

an adopted b3ta raccoon maybe?
/see my comment below about perhaps giving it a little while before proceeding though, just a thought

Edit: charity donations and flowers might be premature but surely nobody could be offended by us adopting a raccoon in her memory?

but I think a little patience might be prudent.
just my opinion only, mind :)

but I can't do it technically - the money all goes to someone elses account and I have no control over it.

It's meaningful enough for those people who knew her, and un-obtrusive for those who didn't and won't really understand what it's all about.
It's a bloody odd / awful feeling when you realise you're talking about someone in the "past" tense.

I hate the past tense. I hate the birds outside my window, they're being too cheerful. I hate everything.

Bad plan. She was picking dandelions and buttercups, the sun was shining and the birds were singing their hearts out. I came home angrier than when I left.
I don't often swear as many of you may have noticed, but FUCK :(

I think it's a good idea. There is obviously a very strong feeling here, from those that knew her.
The problem is that like real life, after such an awful thing, life has to get back to normal.
Having a place for people to say their bit does absolutely no harm, and it allows the board to get back to normal without anyone feeling bad about it.
As for tackiness / B3taness . . well, I'm sure some of her close friends can go through the collection of pictures, and collect the nice ones onto a CD. Then at some time in the future, give it to whoever will appreciate it.

It may needed to have been said by someone with a bit more weight.
;)
I'm sure the donation could be setup for an appropriate charity, I know that was mentioned before.

You should have seen some of the stuff suggested on /talk when JPG's thread was still active and many of us here still hadn't heard the news. Some of it spilled over to /board and that was bad enough.

A lasting monument that won't fade into the archives.
I like TGA's idea of the adopted raccoon too. Or a donation in her name to some charity.
Who wants to arrange something?

to organise everything, then a discreet word to someone the prof. is in contact with from here to enquire if a charity has been nominated by the Prof. and Nina's family.
I think anyone organising anything here so soon might be a little premature

My bet is that prof or nina's family will set up a charity donation or something anyway, so we can all give to that in time. Right now, they're probably far too devastated to even think about this sort of thing.

I mean at the end of last night the board looked like this, I think that everyone deserves better than becoming some horrible Jade Goody memorial.
