Which is a shame, because I'm sure Hall had some interesting things to say given the chance.

Had the pleasure of working with him on a gig at the club where I introduced him to saffia. I rember a crazy fan who met him once in 79 was hammering on my office door demanding an audience.

I'd never really got why people used to compare them to Belle and Sebastian, but focussing on the music rather than Lawrence's vocals made it quite obvious.

This is quite a different mix as suits the timeframe, less of the religious and novelty Christmas and more of both the melancholy and the celebratory. Also features the best-selling single of all time (you know which one)

(I also made Christmas mixes for 1902-1924 and 1926-1938, not sure if I posted them up here before, but there you go, three hours of not-the-usual Christmas music for you!)

it funny how it's often the opposite of cultural personas. Brasil's quite a machismo male culture, but the top search is trannies. America has all these trump "all lives matter", but their top search is ebony. China hate the japs, but it's their top porn search. Millennials seem to have driven Hentai to the top. Not surprising, as in my kids primary school anime is massive, so it's a short walk to cosplay and themed porn. And I like that among my jaded Gen Xs, dystopian hardcore is prevalent. Fisting, bukake, creampies. We just want to feel something, dammit. Why isn't donkey midget porn bringing more search results?

Should get really mental when the sex robots improve and yiffers start having absurd sex with bizarre imaginary animals in bus stations. Disembodied living genitals grown from stem cells for sale in the chilled aisles, disposable escorts with celebrity faces, chocolate flavoured prostitutes.
Or so I've heard.

Even knowing that this is highly unlikely to appear in the actual film. It's beautifully done.

Don’t recall actually watching it through to the end.
I’m sure the sequel will be equally missable.

Of all the issues with it, character design is an odd one to pick.
The writing was abysmal. I couldn't name a single character in the film they were all so forgettable. Sigourney Weaver was seemingly only in it so you could say "Oh look, there's Sigourney Weaver". I couldn't even tell you who played either of the lead roles.
The plot was incredibly simplistic. Army bad, trees good.
The world design was incredible... to anyone who's never played a video game.
Was there music?

But what you say doesn't make me want to rush out and see either. Barbie, on the other hand...

Week 2 is where the real judgement happens. If it sustains that performance then fair play. A huge amount of week 1 will have been pre-books and people who didn't get to see the reviews until the embargo ended. I'm expecting a precipitous drop-off for week 2 as the word gets around.

Moviebob? HA!
No. But seriously, I don't think there are any good ones on youtube. Empire's website seems to be tolerable, but I'm not sure what differentiates it from the rest of them.

I watch two film critic teams, both comedy/semi fictitious parody stuff:
Red Letter Media and On Cinema At The Cinema (though the latter seem to have gone behind a paywall since Adult Swim dropped them).

When it was first released it didn't seem that relevant to TV in the UK, but with the ubiquity of the Internet and mobile devices the lyrics feel more relevant than ever.
